At the Farm, Heath is otherwise known as “Kathleen’s husband.” He is the guy that floats around on the weekends lugging toolboxes, skill saw, sprinkler fittings, and plumbing implements – fixing this and that and trying to stay out of the boss-lady’s way. Heath grew up in the Colorado mountains, living the rural life. He worked with horses from an early age.
A big kid for his age, Heath spent the summer between 6th and 7th grade on a logging crew high up in the San Juan Mountains. His job was to section the felled logs into 8 ft lengths, and then run a team of gigantic draft horses to drag the logs out of the deep forest. He nicknamed the drafts Heckle and Jeckle due to their often caustic sense of humor.
At age 13, he spent the summer working at a Colorado dude ranch, wrangling horses (and people). He learned how to drink coffee during those 4:30 am mornings. Herding 30 horses out of a 100-acre pasture every morning required caffeine and patience. Heath moved to South Dakota at age 14. With his mom’s help, he his first business. He purchased 4 two-year-old colts, broke and trained them, and then sold them. The company was a bust, however, because he lost a quarter of his profits after falling in love and keeping “Good ol’ Sackett” (who was a not a so “good” Arabian roan) Sackett was a runner. If you gave him his head, he would bolt, ears back, eyes white and manic. Heath truly had to cowboy up to get him under control. Quickly he devised a plan to only let Sackett “run” when he was headed uphill. It had to be a big hill, though, because if Sackett wasn’t blown by the time he reached the top – the downhill white-eyed run was terrifying.
Heath left home at 17 and moved to Aspen, Colorado. There he met a photographer while busing tables. The woman asked him to sit for some fashion photos. They weren’t very good, but the experience began a new twisting trail in Heath’s life. He moved to Los Angeles, did some modeling while also training horses in Malibu for a Hollywood film mogul, and within a few months, he was invited to model in Paris. He stayed in Europe for a year. (Where, incidentally, he was struck by lightning during a solo camping trek up Mont Blanc, but that’s another story.)
Back in LA, Heath quickly moved from modeling to acting. He worked with top celebrities and directors in the industry with stints in Wyatt Earp, Doctor Quinn Medicine Woman, and eventually as a series regular on The Young And the Restless. After 20 years, he transitioned again, from acting to writing, penning two novels and a memoir, and countless film and television scripts.
Finally, he met Kathleen. Except for the western movies he performed in, Heath had been away from his equine roots for most of his time in Hollywood, and he could notbelieve his luck when he found a “horsewoman” in the middle of LA!
In 2010,as he watched Kathleen working on her first variations of No Thrush powder and then saw how her colleagues kept begging her to make some more of her “Thrush Stuff,” Heath finally suggested,
“This is clearly something
that works, and people seem to want it. We should make a big batch and see if it will sell.”
That was the beginning. The husband and wife team worked in the garage into the late hours making powder and working out the logistics. There was a lot to learn! Internet sales went crazy right away, and they were up until midnight every night packing boxes. Soon No Thrush was in the local stores and then spreading outward in a ripple effect. Within a year, the product was sold nationally and had jumped the pond into the EU, Japan, AU, NZ, etc.
Heath now runs the Four Oaks Products production facility. Just as he does on the weekends at the farm, he wears many hats and carries many toolboxes.

A career changing moment for Justin Biltonen, Us And The Night was the first major release he both wrote and played on in-studio.
Having earned the courage and credentials, Justin began indulging his longtime love of country music and officially announced his solo project with the singles “Use You” and “How A Man’s Made.” Biltonen marked his terrestrial radio debut with the follow-up single “She’s Got the Highway”, which he credits with solidifying his stance as a member of the country music community.
From playing bars and basements to global tours and the Presidential Inauguration, the North Carolina native owes his success to nothing more than his sincere, unwavering respect for music.

David Sharp was born and raised in Log Cabin, Louisiana and now resides in Brock, Texas, where he runs a training program for young horses. The majority of his program is starting two-year-olds that will go on to be rope horses.
However, he also raises head horses that he competes with and shows for himself and his clients. His training program focuses on building a solid foundation with extensive groundwork, lots of outside miles, and giving the colts small tasks to do along the way to prepare them for their future.

It was an honor to have Chief Deputy Thomas on the Podcast. Matt has dedicated his life to serve and protect and has done so with the utmost professionalism and dignity.
Matthew Thomas is an Arizona native, who has lived in Pinal County since 1987 and has been employed with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office since 1993. Matt started his career with PCSO in Detention, moving into a Deputy position in 1994, and has promoted through the ranks to the position of Chief Deputy.
Chief Thomas’ assignments have included being a Deputy assigned to Patrol, the Traffic Unit and as a Detective in the Narcotics unit. In 2001, Chief Thomas was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and as a Sergeant he supervised patrol squads, and held assignments as the Training Sergeant, Narcotics Task Force Sergeant, and Traffic Unit Sergeant. In 2009, Chief Thomas became the first Motor Sergeant for the first Motor squad in PCSO history. In December 2010, Chief Thomas promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and as a Lieutenant, Chief Thomas has held command of the Pinal Regional SWAT Team, the West Desert Task Force, Property Crimes, Persons Crimes, the Crime Scene Technicians, the Pinal County Narcotics Task Force, Pinal County Anti-Smuggling Unit, and as the Regional Commander for the San Tan Valley region, which is the highest populated and unincorporated area of Pinal County with approximately 95,000 residents. Chief Thomas was also member of the Pinal Regional SWAT Team from 1997 to 2014 and 2016 until his promotion to Chief Deputy.
In addition to his normal duties, Chief Thomas has been an adjunct instructor and acted as a Recruit Training Officer at the Regional Police Academy in Pinal County, and was also assigned as Interim Director of this same Police Academy in 2005/2006. Chief Thomas was a member of the AZPOST Ethics Committee, holds numerous Instructor Certifications for Law Enforcement courses, is a graduate of the Leadership In Police Organizations developed by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy 261st session. Additionally, Chief Thomas was the Eastern Regional Director for the Arizona Tactical Officer's Association from 2011 to 2013, and the Vice-President from 2013 to 2017. Chief Thomas has instructed law enforcement around the U.S. in the area of border related issues and Mexican cartels, speaking and teaching on these subjects for organizations such as the National Rifle Association and the National Tactical Officer’s Association.
As Chief Deputy for PCSO, Thomas is 2nd in command of the Sheriff’s Office consisting of 233 sworn staff, 207 Detention staff, and 234 civilian support staff and volunteers in a county that is 5,400 square miles with a population of approximately 500,000. Chief Thomas manages an overall budget for the Sheriff’s Office of $47.1 million dollars, oversees all PCSO operations for sworn Deputies, Detention and Civilian staff and acts as the Sheriff’s Senior Executive Officer.

Nick was raised in a military medicine household. His father was an Independent Duty Corpsman for the US Submarine Force. As a child, he saw the positive impact his father had on the crew.
Driven to change his circumstances and move to Miami, he applied to the University of Miami Accelerated BSN program and was awarded a full scholarship and worked at the University of Miami Hospital for four years as a bedside nurse.
During his MSN training he completed clinical rotations at: Jackson Memorial Hospital ER, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Pediatric Surgery, University of Miami Hospital: Neurosurgery, University of Miami Hospital: Endocrinology, and the University of Miami Diabetes Research Institute. He completed his Maternal Health Field Clinical training in Thomonde, Haiti through Project Medishare.
Nick enjoys music and songwriting, culinary, resistance training, and has recently rediscovered bicycling, logging over 1,000 miles in 2020.
As a FNP, his scope of practice is primary care for individuals of all ages.
FNP Archer completed his Post Graduate Specialty Certificate in Endocrinology at Duke University with a 4.0 GPA.
Nick awaits the day a certifying exam will be created for Endocrinology Nurse Practioners so he can become dual-certified.

Six years ago Josh, with his adventurous spirit, convinced me, Erica the school teacher, to put on my cowgirl boots and move from Denver to the town of Wellington—Colorado’s beautiful northern gateway. It’s here, on this land, the three of us found our roots. Together, we built 33-acres of land into Ciardullo Ranch—a grass-fed, pasture-raised sustainable and regenerative Black Angus operation, complete with chickens, sheep and livestock dogs Marv, Mosey and Osmond. Recently we expanded our stewardship into a 500-acre paradise named Sylvan Dale Ranch a few miles south of Ciardullo Ranch.
More than simply ranching, we strive to be stewards of the land God gave us. Beyond the minimum of raising our angus humanely and on grass-pastures, our goal is to raise our animals as if it were 10,000 years ago—instead of working against nature, we strive to mimic what would take place in our absence. We aren't trying to keep up with the swings of the cattle market and stress over the buy-low-sell-high mentality. We want our animals to breed and calve in sync with their large herbivore neighbors, like the elk and deer that roam free in our backyard, the Rocky Mountains.

Dave Duquette has been a loud and clear voice of reason for agriculture and rural rights in the United States. With a passion for rural American causes, Western Justice founder Dave Duquette has experience fighting some of the toughest battles in Agriculture.
Dave’s career as an animal welfare and agriculture advocate started over 2 decades ago. A Marine, Dave has built several businesses including his own horse training facility in Northeast Oregon. During his career as a horse trainer, he began seeing the unjust policies inflicted on rural America, and believed they needed someone who would stand up for them, their families, beliefs, and their way of life, he wanted to be that person.
After seeing Dave discuss industry issues with Bret Baier on Fox News, Forrest Lucas, founder of the pro-agriculture education Protect The Harvest, recruited Dave as the nonprofit's National Strategic Planner and Spokesman. There, he built a robust team of SME writers and digital media specialists, catapulting the organization's online presence and messaging, transforming it into one of the most coveted agricultural advocacy groups.
In 2020 He started his own consulting business, Duquette Strategies, to continue advocating at a new level. His years at PTH were parallel to earning a PHD in politics. Working in Washington D.C, enabled him to form invaluable relationships and gave him the knowledge and the tactics needed to navigate government departments.
In 2020 with his consulting business off and running, Dave was approached by a rightly concerned group of knowledgeable horse people about the increasing influence animal extremist groups are having on the industry and wanted to know what could be done to stop the unjust legislation, these groups push in all levels of government.
Dave recognized the importance of uniting individuals and industry groups under one umbrella to advocate legislatively for the western lifestyle, livelihoods, and industry events. He saw the value of a membership-based organization and believes the strength and longevity of an organization must come from the people it represents. In 2020 Dave founded Western Justice, a non-profit 501(c)(4) membership-based organization.
His team of experts possesses a broad range of knowledge in areas such as policy, public relations, marketing, advertising, research, and writing, and most importantly, they are all integrally involved in the western lifestyle, including multigenerational ranchers, veterinarians, competitors, and trainers and/or breeders.
Western Justice’s most recent and influential initiative is the Western Sports Industry Coalition, consisting of 50+ organizations, uniting to stop the Los Angeles City Council’s proposed ordinance to ban western sports events.
Known to government officials and agencies as the “Cowboy with a voice” Dave is looking forward to continuing his work and strives to make Western Justice a legacy that protects the western heritage for future generations.

Born in Los Angeles in 1988. Grew up riding horses and helping dad run his vineyard business and Appaloosa program. Mom was Chicago born and pushed me academically, which led to my acceptance into Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo under the major of Wine and Viticulture. Dad passed away unexpectedly during my first quarter of college and so I juggled the vineyard business while obtaining my degree. After that I worked production and tasting room management in Paso Robles while continuing vineyard work in Los Angeles.
Eventually, I created the umbrella company Wine Boss LLC which titles my own winery license and tasting room. Using a great deal of persistence, I was able to make a private label wine for my favorite reggae rock band, Pepper, and several other bands within that genre of music. With business being as time consuming as it was, I was about to move on from vineyards when I received a call about replacing vines at a very familiar address. It was a vineyard my father and I installed 17 years prior so I took the job out of sentimental value.
However, dad had given me the account of a lifetime.. I came to find out that Kevin Hart was the new owner of the property. Divine (no pun intented) intervention - (haha had to steal that Dan ;) I've been working with Kev and his wines for 3 years now, hoping this leads to something huge for my brand.

Amy Smith Bio:Southern California born, Alaskan raised. My childhood was definitely not anything of Modern society, we lived off the grid without running water and electricity for most of my childhood. I joined the Navy at 17, left for boot camp 4 days after high school graduation. I remember watching all the news during desert storm and thought I’m going to be apart of our military someday and it had to be aviation. So I did!
Made 1 deployment and spent my 4 years on a sea going command to say I’ve seen the world is understatement.
I’ve been In Southern Calif since 2003, worked in the real estate industry since 2005. I absolutely love my Career in the Title Insurance field as an outside sales rep. My partner Joe and I have been extremely blessed with our success to say I love my Ticor Title Family would be an understatement.
I’ve raised my 2 boys who are now 14 and 19.My oldest is now Active duty Navy and is on his 1st deployment. I couldn’t be more proud! My youngest has aspirations to join the Army to be a dog handler!
I’m a co-owner at PhytoSana CBD with one of my amazing friends, we make products for pets and their people. We are going on 4 years now and it’s been a blast! It’s crazy when god opens doors for you and you have a little faith! CBD has so many amazing health benefits and we get to educate and share that with other horse and small pet owners it’s such an incredible journey.
I’ve been an AZ resident the last few years and have been blessed with being able to spend my winters in AZ with my best friend doing what we love! Riding horses, jack potting and making memories.
This summer god set us on a path to buy 4 short term rentals. Our short term rentals were Uniquely inspired by Taylor Sheridans Hit Television series, Yellowstone! Us 3 gals have had a blast! It’s been a lot work, laughter, frustration but we’re not quite done yet.
Our next adventure has inspired a podcast, stay tuned for Grit, Coffee & Cowgirls. Our goal is to inspire others and let others inspire us

It was an honor to have Jason Paletta on the podcast, a true patriot putting his money where his mouth is to save California and America. I have so much respect for this man who is not afraid and willing to get in the fight.
Growing up in this great state, Jason was active in the Future Farmers of America at Colusa High School and worked in rice fields or moving water irrigation pipes in walnut orchards. After graduating from Colusa High school, Jason joined the U.S. Army where he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division as an Airborne Infantryman. He was honorably discharged and returned back to California where he attended the police academy in 1998.
It’s time to send a peace officer to the California State Assembly! Jason Paletta is a twenty-three-year law enforcement veteran and former SWAT officer. He currently is with the California Department of Justice, where he works as a Special Agent on the Violent Crimes Team. The lifelong Northern California resident is a husband and father of three.
Besides his regular law enforcement duties, Jason has served in various security roles for our country. From 2011 to 2013, Paletta worked with the U.S. Department of State as part of the High Threat Diplomatic Protection corps. From January 2011 to May 2012, Jason was assigned to the U.S. Ambassador’s Protection Detail, Counter Assault Team, and the Downed Aircraft Recovery Team in Iraq, conducting numerous missions in the Red Zone. From June 2012 to October 2013, he worked as a firearms instructor and was assigned to the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) in Herat and Mazar-E-Sharif, Afghanistan.
Jason Paletta is also a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 3/504 Parachute Infantry Regiment with the 82nd Airborne.
As a former SWAT officer, gang detective, field training officer, recruitment officer, member of the Federal Safe Streets Task Force, and president of the Police Officer Association, Jason has seen first-hand how pro-criminal policies like Prop. 47, AB 109, and related legislation have made California’s communities and families less safe.
That is why Jason is now running for State Assembly. His perspective and background as a law enforcement officer, military veteran, husband, and father can help restore California. From the mismanagement of our education system and parental rights to out of control homelessness, lack of quality treatment for our veterans, and high criminal activity due to the system failing to hold criminals accountable, Californians need a strong voice with the experience and commitment to put people first—not the politicians or the special interests.
Jason Paletta holds a Masters Degree in Homeland Security and was born and raised in Colusa County. He and his family reside in Rocklin, California.

At COWI, we are a mindset brand. Bringing you clothes to match your persevering self. We’re a brand that is not limited to one demographic of a person or thing. The “Come On With It” mindset is simply, just that. The hustle, grind, and self motivated mentality is who we are.
The phrase “Come On With It” started out as a greeting to one another. A saying you’d yell to your buddies from across the room and they would know who it was. Something you’d say when you needed a little motivation, that inner voice. It was also used to compliment and congratulate one another. Quite a few of our “day1s” would use it to end their social media post (i.e “can’t wait to go to the lake this weekend…COME ON WITH IT!” or “just finished my first marathon today…COWI” and so forth. Adrian Brannan is a Billboard chart-topping singer-songwriter who is equally at home in the branding pen, onstage, or on a bucking horse. Brannan encourages women around the world through her weekly #DearCowgirl letters and through her recently released book, Dear Cowgirl: Letters to Women. Hailing from an off-grid cabin in the mountains, Brannan splits her time between touring, writing, performing, chopping wood, and taking care of her own small bunch of cows.
Growing up in a “gypsy family,” Adrian was exposed to the raw beauty of the Scottish highlands and the Nevada sagebrush, the harsh reality of life in a post-iron curtain Ukraine and the adventures of learning French in Switzerland before returning to life in America and falling in love with the west. “I lived in a 14 ft tipi through middle and high school” Adrian reflects, “I was a wild child with un-brushed hair and out of control riding bareback and wishing I had been born a mountain man from the fur trade era. My family not only tolerated, but encouraged my unruly behavior and cultivated my love of the wild places and freedom.”
Hard work, books, trapping, opera (another tale in and of itself) and barefoot adventures into the hills filled Adrian’s childhood, and although her family was not always cowboying for a living or based on huge ranches-the love of working horseback learned from her father always stayed with her. “My dad and sister were the cowboys. My mom and I were the free spirit-cowboys” Adrian says with a smile. “I refused to do things like everyone else. I didn’t care if I was weird or the odd man out, I loved the old school – the different – the roads less traveled.”
When Adrian was 14, her life changed forever with the chance to record an album. An open mic, two newly written songs and a little girl who had been playing a pawn-shop guitar for two weeks suddenly realized her life’s purpose. With the help of an incredible couple (Mike and Liz Vanderhoof) from Utah who saw the clear potential, Adrian picked up the guitar and welded pen and paper like weapons, moving head-on into the career she knows she was meant to pursue to this day. “I realized that I had things to say, a [cowboy] culture I longed to protect, and a spirit that had to wander. It was stumbling into perfection, into meaning and into something I’ve never regretted for a minute. It was like coming home.”

Kayla’s Story of Pro Rodeo Dreams
I would like to begin with my story and it all starts on June 16, 1994. This day is the day I was born. On this day I was born I came out weighing just 1 lb. 16 oz. and started fighting for my life as a child that was immediately put through a lot in just the first days I was born and it has continued through my life. I was put into the NICU right away since I was so small and lived there for 3 months which put me at coming home right around the time I was originally supposed to come into this world around September 30. I came home with oxygen and very little lung capacity living on monitors for quite awhile. As a child I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy which has really only affected my legs putting me in a wheelchair and the right side is my weaker side. I was put through many surgeries and therapy to try and help the condition and to help me maintain a normal life living with this condition. Even though I was diagnosed with this condition I grew up on a ranch south of my hometown 15 miles and we were ranchers so it was without a doubt that I was going to be horseback starting at just the young age of 3 years old I was put on a horse with someone because I didn’t have the muscles or strength to know how to hold on. The physical therapists even said it was great therapy for me so I continued and currently I’m waiting for my next horse to be ready for me to ride. Now lets go to the age of 7 years old where I was able to receive intensive therapy in Poland for one month. This trip was definitely a culture shock to me at such a young age but it was one that was truly life changing. To summarize this intensive therapy it was physical therapy that children were put through some rigorous therapy sessions that were 8 hours a day, 6 days a week with only Sundays off. In this therapy children are given many therapy sessions but the most intensive part of this therapy is when the children are put into what is called an Adeli Suit otherwise known as a space suit that the astronauts used in Russia to go into space. With this suit that children are put into its all connected with bungee cords that are able to be moved in different places to help the brain and body be able to communicate with what the legs and limbs are really supposed to do to be able to walk. It not only helps with the physical aspect but also helps the mental aspect. When we first arrived my first day of therapy we had shipped by current walker that I had been using at the time for physical therapy. The first thing one of the therapists told us was why do you have this? You aren’t going to need this when you are done with your therapy here and we will not be using that here in your therapy sessions at all you might as well get rid of it. Well by the time I left there at the end of the one month session I came home walking with arm crutches first time ever that I was able to walk with no help from anyone while walking. I could have went back for a second round which could have put me in the next phase of the therapy which is walking with canes and the third part of it is walking with no assistive devices at all. Unfortunately this is around the time that the war broke out and we didn’t go back again. I believe this is truly where I gained the mental confidence of you can do anything that you put your mind to. My parents even videoed the stuff that I did while on therapy there for guidance for the physical therapists back home and we tried to do as much as we could, even though I was going to school and still trying to live a normal life but nothing compared to that intensive therapy that I got while there. Fast forward to my middle school years I had a surgery done to lengthen my hamstring tendons which we thought at the time it would work well after the surgery I had a complete 180 turn around backwards. The surgery was a little bit successful for me but only temporarily which caused me to lose the muscle and strength I had built up while in Poland. Then fast forward to high school and I was able to live life what I have always known as normal just like any other kid. Let’s just say that I was able to get my drivers license and able to get an accessible car to live life just like everyone else. Then graduated high school and it was onto college. I was still living with my parents and don’t worry I still enjoyed the college life and I even completed my business degree in my hometown college in just three years. Then the real world started and I got a real job. Then I was able to move into accessible apartments in my hometown, so I no longer live at the ranch south of town full time. I live a normal life and do everything else does, and I’m still not used to the whole neighbors close to you. Let’s fast forward to now, I am still working a full time job and pay my own bills but I have recently developed and interest and drive to try to go rope with the pros. Like I have dealt with all my life there’s a curve in this part it’s that I’m left handed and most people rope right handed, which means that even though my brother and dad are team ropers and they can’t rope left handed. So I decided one day to buy me a dummy and just start watching what the pros do and videoing like I have heard on many podcasts as well as watching You Tube videos to develop a better skill level because I would get frustrated with my brother and dad trying to teach me how to rope at a young age because the rope wasn’t left handed. So here I sit with a big dream of taking the steps of achieving my dream of wanting to go to the NFR and attend The American. My dream truly took off when I was able to see our family friend achieve her dreams of running her own horses at the NFR as a barrel racer Kathy Grimes. Watching her achieve her dreams pushed me even more to achieve my goals and one of them is going with the professionals and living that life on the road. I know it will include many challenges even more so with my circumstances of being in a wheelchair but I know that it’s just like anything else I have done in my life which is I can do it but it might be a little different to get there and I might have to do things in a different way to get there but I will get there I don’t care how long it takes. I suppose you could say that’s another reason why I love horses and rodeo and everything about it is because it’s the chance that I get to look at it as everyone is all doing the same thing and I’m not doing anything different than anyone else. So here’s a short version of my beginning road of becoming a professional and I can’t wait to come back to my home town and be known as an NFR qualifier beings that I live in such a small town of Montana called Havre which is 40 miles to Canada and has been known to be one of the coldest places on earth in the winter. I just completed my Master’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of Phoenix in September 2021. During this pandemic has helped me want to pursue this dream that I have. I’m ready to physically as well to chase my dreams of going to the NFR and bringing back that Gold Buckle and nothing is going to stop me. I know I have the support of my family and friends to do it because they have supported me in everything I have done. So a huge Thank You goes out to my parents, brother, and his family and all of my extended family and friends! One day some people will be getting reserved seating at all the rodeos and NFR! I would also like to thank the Heckman family for the honorary buckle that I received in August of 2021 it was truly an honor to receive that buckle in honor of in honor of a man like Rocky Heckman to this day I still try to live my life like rocky but some days can be tougher than others especially since things have drastically changed in this world. That’s when I really have to remember what I have and the characteristics that Rocky lived by in his short time on earth and to live my life through perseverance hope character and faith. Before I received This award back in may 2021 um our hometown decided to have an extreme broncs and bulls event. At this event I didn’t even know but um Hannah’s husband sterling came and Casey field was here and so was Tim O’Connell and I had the opportunity to talk to Tim O’Connell at the event and meet him and got inside on to what'd you you know champions do um and what his life is like it was nice to also meet Hanna’s husband because I actually went to college with Hanna and little did I know just a couple months later I would be selected to receive Rockys award. My brother and his wife knew long before I did or the rest of my family before I did and I really was surprised when my sister in law said we have to go meet these people just like the video on the news showed. Thank you to all my family and friends for the support without them I’m not sure where I would be. But it is kinda fun knowing that people like Dustin Bird have made it to the NFR as well. Roping does keep me mentally sane when I put that rope in my hand I’m a better person knowing I have a chance just like everyone else to bring home all the money and prizes! So yes I still have a goal of going to The American either by invite or even better qualifying for the American and going to the NFR!

Lee Patterson was born and raised on a small ranch outside of Whitefish Mt. His father Bob Patterson was rodeo Calf roper ,and his grandfather ,Fred was was a cowboy who worked on many of the old Montana ranches. Patterson’s son RJ is a cowboy and Patterson takes pride in watching his grandsons Colt and Jett continue the family tradition for the fifth generation. “ That’s the thing that holds the network of family together is riding and horses ,” Patterson said. Our deal is cows and horses and rodeo.
Patterson was recently inducted into the Montana Pro Rodeo Hall of Frame. He was one of the several individuals who where awarded for their contributions to Rodeo and the western way of life in Montana. “ It has been really rewarding to me to be a cowboy .” He said. Patterson still lives on his family ranch in Whitefish Mt. He recalls as a child driving all night with the family so his father could get to a rodeo, and the young age at which he and his siblings began to ride and help on the ranch. My Grandfather was a famous cowboy following World War I , “ Patterson said. He would give railroad workers rides to town on his horses. He raised and sold horses to the Army. Patterson himself has spent years competing in rodeos in the northwest where he roped calves and team roped. Patterson has a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Gold Card, a lifetime membership in the PRCA. After high school Patterson worked on a ranch in Arizona, while attending the University of Arizona part-time. When working on the ranch we had 125 head of horses something was always breaking ,Patterson said. The head Wrangler taught me how to repair and maintain the saddles. That is where I got my start on building saddles, then later went back to Montana and opened a Western store with a saddle shop in back. After selling the store I spent full time building saddles, for many years I built 50 t 52 saddles each year. Now it is a much slower pace my designs are more refined and I enjoy working on new tooling patterns and trying new ideas. In 2019 I won first place in saddles carved division
At the World Leather Debut. This is a contest that has been taking place for 20 years in Sheridan WY. It is the largest contest for saddle makers that I know of, and it was a true honor to win . Many of the great past and current saddle makers have won this contest like Don King, Don Butler and Keith Seidel and for me it is a highlight of more than 40 years of building saddles. Now I build saddles for ranchers and , team ropers most of my saddles get used hard but some just go into the living room to look at. I am so blessed to have the family and friends I do and get to get up each day knowing that I get to do something I love to do.

Charles Bisset grew up off grid in the Valhalla mountains of British Columbia, Canada for the first 17 years of his life. His father was raised on a dude ranch which inspired him to raise his family off grid. Both of his parents were opera teachers and his mother homeschooled both Charles and his sister.
He started thai boxing when he was 11 years old because he wanted to get into involved in sports and the boxing gym was the only thing available in that area.
He had his first fight when he was 15 years old in a nightclub and by the time he was 16 he was the number 4th amateur in canada. At 17 he decided to move away and pursue his dream of being a professional cowboy on big ranches. He cowboyed in four different provences in Canada, including the famous half a million acre Douglas Lake Ranch Cattle Company and then moved to Califorina to continue cowboying at Fort Baker Ranch. He fulfilled his dream of being a cowboy for 6 years and decided to continue fighting and pursue acting. Since then hes gone on to win the CMTA National Title, NAMTF North American Title, Thilands Suwit Sadium Title, WKA World Title, United States WBC title, 2x IKKC International Champion, Titans of Muay Thai Champion and WBL World Champion. Charles has also appeared in 10 national commercials, a few indie films and appeared along side Chris Kristofferson.

Charly Crawford Bio Born and raised in Canby, Oregon Charly Crawford grew up with his dad who was a bareback rider and the self-proclaimed biggest team roping fan on earth. Charly’s father, Chuck always had good horses and was one of the reasons the crossfire rule was implemented. Growing up in the Northwest, the summers were always fun because guys like Mike Beers, Allan Back, Jake Barnes, Clay Cooper, and Leo Camarillo would come rope at their house. Due to the average rainfall being so significant, they could only rope about 4 months of the year outdoors. Chuck had a roping club where there were weekly practices and monthly jackpots. Charly always got to rope with guys that gave him no choice but to rope the best he could. He made the amateur finals before he made the high school finals. He and his dad would jackpot together, and Charly even did his first roping school at the age of 12. It took winning for Charly to take roping seriously and once he was accustomed to winning, he never looked back. “I paid my fees for the Dummy Ropings by picking up beer cans around the arena” Before moving to Arizona to attend college at Central Arizona in Casa Grande, Charly took home a state championship and made the National High School Rodeo finals three times. College was a challenge because he suffered from a learning disability, and it was always more enticing to make money. He tended to business long enough to take some teaching courses, make the college finals three times, and work on his farrier skills but never graduated. Charly bought his PRCA permit in 1997 and filled it at the first rodeo he entered in Tacoma, WA. He was roping with Shane Crossley. In 1998 he won PRCA Resistol Rookie of the Year. The years leading into 2001 were inconsistent, but Charly was focused on gathering up some good horses and making his herd valuable. There are a lot of influences in our sport, but one piece of advice always stuck with Charly: “It’s not how much you can win on your horses by how much your horses can keep you from winning” This led to the purchase of “Armadillo” which Charly acquired because of a bet. This horse proved himself by being named Horse of the BFI in 2001 and was Reserve Horse of the Year in 2005. You should know that through the roller coaster of life and the ups and downs on the rodeo trail that Charly always had an inkling to ride saddle broncs. His curiosity wasn’t fueled by trying to do what his dad did, but because he rode a lot of outside horses and if they’d fart, he fell off. In 2003, Charly was on the kick that he wanted to ride broncs when he got a call from Bucky Campbell to rope. He told Bucky what he had on his mind and all Bucky could say is “Don’t do it!” so, they roped for a while and Charly was back to having those thoughts about bronc riding again when he had the opportunity to roe with Tyler Magnus. Tyler also told Charly “Don’t do it!” “When one door closes, another door opens” Pretty soon, Charly was back in the Northwest and Matt Funk called looking for a partner. By this time, Charly was strongly evaluating the option to ride broncs and had decided to back his goals down and get back to basics. He told Matt that he wanted to win the amateur circuit, make the circuit finals, and practice with a purpose. Together they won both amateur association finals and made the circuit finals, but Matt decided to go back to heading so Charly was thinking about bronc riding again. He’d started hanging out behind the chutes, learning the lingo, getting familiar with the equipment and how it all worked. Now its 2004 and Mike Beers calls, he also says “Don’t do it!” so Charly is back to team roping and learns how to make money. Mike retires and Charly starts roping with Richard Durham. They have a great year and win Houston, Reno, Cheyenne and go into their first NFR in the tope 5. Richard never told Charly “Don’t do it” and so while 2005 was going so well Charly finally rode in and won a bronc snubbing event. He got is buckle and called it good. “I made my first NFR and was in my mid 20’s. It went by so fast. My first run was a complete blur and it felt like we were in the 7th round in a blink. “ In 2006 Charly started out roping with Allan Bach. He taught him how to practice all day every day. He taught him the value of having practice horses. Allan had the opportunity to rope with Chad Masters that year and they ended up winning the world. Charly finished out 2006 and 2007 with Cody Hentz. In 2007, Charly had to live through being n the bubble and squeaked into the NFR in 15th place. In 2008 Charly roped with Tyler Magnus and Jhett Johnson. He and Jhett laughed a lot but could never get in sync. Russel Cardoza and Charly roped in 2009 and 2010 making the NFR both years. In 2011 all of his horses were hurt, and he sat out until making the finals with Jim Ross Cooper in 2012, Ryan Motes in 2013, and Shay Carroll in 2014. In 2014 Charly lost his good horse Patron and had to revamp his horse herd, yet again. 2015 was good year, winning Houston and the USTRC Finals. 2016 was the year of the ERA. Though it wasn’t profitable Charly enjoyed getting to work closely with the other members of the association and making new friends. In 2017 Charly purchased his great horse “Nastee” and Joseph Harrison wanted to experience the NFR so they went on to make it in 2017. The sport had evolved so much since 2005 and Charly found himself struggling to stay relevant and be competitive in the new formats. He spent most of 2018 working with Speed Williams reteaching himself how to swing, be relevant, and stay competitive. Rodeoing with Patrick Smith in 2019, there was still confidence that needed to be found. Charly found it when he and Logan Medlin started roping late in 2019. Early in 2020, they were in the 3’s several times, the practice was good, the winter was good, and he was mounted. Charly feels like 2020 was the best year of his career. He got his fifth first-time heeler to the NFR, He was 3 at the NFR for a go-around win, and he caught all 10 steers. Charly feels he got the most out of his career. There is no denying that everyone’s dream is to win a gold buckle, but it wasn’t the hand he was dealt. Charly will continue to rope, and rodeo when he can but his focus is on his family and growing his clientele for private lessons and schools.

John Cofer had always loved the history, appearance of and story behind the western hat. Which led to the desire and curiosity to want to create his own authentic western hat. At this time, John was living in a tiny Airstream trailer in the middle of a horse pasture in Southwest Montana. The will to learn and curiosity took the reins and the research began. A work bench and a handful of hat blocks took over where a small futon once sat. Soon thereafter, the very first western hats were created. Hat making quickly turned from hobby to passion which is where Cofer Hat Company was born. Now located in the hills overlooking Livingston, Montana, a tiny hat shop stays busy handcrafting unique, one of a kind hats for our friends near and far. Doug's Story,
As I moved on to college and focused on the sport of rodeo at the collegiate and professional level, my passion for fitness grew much deeper! I knew that in order to be successful at these levels of competition I would need to be in the best physical shape possible! I worked out 4-5 times per week in a regular gym and then moved on to a local CrossFit gym that I absolutely fell in love with! I went on to become a Level Certified Trainer in 2014 and then added a Strength & Conditioning CrossFit Football certification in 2016 While competing in rodeo, I was involved in a pretty bad wreck when a horse rolled into a fence with me, fracturing my collar bone, ribs and my spine (L4,L5 &S1). I ended up having a spinal fusion and was completely debilitated for two months before I began the long road to rehabilitation.With my knowledge from coaching, I was able to do my own rehab without a physical therapist, slowly putting myself back together and eventually I looked up and saw that I was better than I had ever been - even before the accident. I began competing in CrossFit about a year after I began my rehabilitation, and worked my way up to the top 2% of the world in Competitive CrossFit physical fitness in 2017. This is one of the accomplishments I'm most proud of, and I believe it makes me a better coach because I had to learn first-hand that through consistency, patience, proper nutrition, goal setting, and the right individualized fitness programs that anything is possible when it comes to improving your health and overall wellness! I feel that my wide range of knowledge and experience allows me to adapt/use many creative methods to achieve each client's individualized goals, whether you want to be an elite level athlete in your sport or want to be a badass at everyday life we are here for you and can help!

I announced my first real event for $100 at a bull futurity deal and then went and quit my job to announce full time. It’s been a passion of mine ever since high school.
I’ve been blessed to announce for the MBR at the PBR finals fan zone and watch kids turn into top 10 athletes. I’ve got my PRCA card bought and will hopefully get the green light for 2022.
Ransom Notes was something that happened accidentally, I made a post on FB late at night and then it exploded! It has since grown to 8,500 IG followers and brought more blessings then I could have imagined.

They ride horses, rope calves, buck broncs, ride and fight bulls and they even wrestle steers. They are black cowboys, and the spirit of their pursuits intersected with America’s struggle for racial equality, human rights and social justice.
“I think your notion of the skills it takes, the horsemanship … you’re countering the notion that enslaved people had no skills,” said Lonnie Bunch III, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institute and Founding Director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, “and, see, that’s an important part of the story.”
Beginning at the turn of the 20th century, Black Cowboys of Rodeo is a collection of 100 years-worth of cowboy stories set against the backdrop of segregation, the Civil Rights Movement and eventually the integration of a racially divided country; and told by the unsung heroes whose accomplishments and rightful place in history have been disregarded and all but forgotten.
This collection is not a final document. Or a definitive story.
It is a work in progress.
For many readers, Black Cowboys of Rodeo, which at its core are traditional cowboy stories, is an introduction to a whole new universe of possibilities and an unvarnished, firsthand look at a seldom documented segment of the African American experience.
“In the ‘50s and ‘60s, there was a drive among black folks … to excel and overcome all sorts of barriers in order to achieve what they wanted to achieve,” said Rev. James Lawson, leading nonviolence advocate during the Civil Rights Movement. “I’m not surprised at all that a sizable number of black cowboys, who’ve been misrepresented and not represented in our history books and films, were among those who did that.”

Marty and his wife Kelly have a daughter and son-in law and on March 1 became a Grandparents. (She is an embryo adoption child). Embryo was frozen for four years and adopted and placed in Tate, our daughter. Now we have Sawyer Raye… )
Grew up in Sikeston, Missouri. Small town in Southeast Missouri. Agricultural town also known as being one of the most northern places to grow Cotton in the United States.
Father owned a residential construction business and mother was an accountant. One brother, who is a school administrator.
Anderson University, Anderson, Indiana. Played football (punter – they are part of the team). Obtained degrees in Economics and Criminal Justice.
After college went to work for a bank.
Father raised quarter horses. Family roped. Cousin’s rodeo’d. Thought I was a bulldogger for a few years. Started team roping after one of my cousins moved back to Missouri from Texas. Mostly jackpots, US Roping’s.
Became interested in the FBI after Timothy McVeigh blew up the federal building in Oklahoma City. April 19, 1995.
After entering the FBI and completing training at Quantico, Virginia I served in Indianapolis IN, Springfield IL and St. Louis MO Divisions. Served overseas assignments in Iraq, Pakistan, Romania and Israel.
Prior to 9-11 – served as a criminal agent investigating, drugs and violent crimes.
Post 9-11 – served as a National Security Agent investigating International and Domestic Terrorism matters.
After 9-11 went to New York as part of the evidence recovery efforts. Largest Crime Scene in the history of the FBI.
Other significant cases:
1. Serial Murder case – Robert Eugene Brashers
2. Violent Felons – Chadrick Fulks and Brandon Basham (broke out of jail and went on a 17 day violent crime spree. Murdered 2 ladies, Alice Donovan, Conway, South Carolina and Marshall University student, Samantha Burns.
3. Violent Child Predator – William C. Davis. Captured after being profiled on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah awarded the tipsters $100,000 for turning Davis in. Tipsters ended up suing each other over the money.

Born and raised on a century farm in Canby, Oregon, Olivia Harms grew up knowing hard work was a way of life. So was music. Olivia’s mom is Joni Harms – singer/songwriter and Western Hall of Fame inductee. Music and hard work went hand in hand for Olivia. She joined her mom on the road playing music before she could walk. You might even say Olivia was born into it, “My first time on stage was when I was 2 days old – my mom, in true Joni style, had labor induced to make her show. From then on I was pretty much on stage by her side and becoming more and more addicted to the adventure of the music business.”
At age 6, Santa Claus brought Olivia her first guitar, a baby Taylor. She learned to play and soon started writing her own songs. At 16, Olivia had written enough music to go back to Nashville and record her debut album. She admits that the songs and the writing style was what can be expected from a 16 year old girl. “One of the first songs I ever wrote was about my hometown Canby, Oregon. I had big dreams of sharing a little piece of our family farm and my upbringing with folks by singing the song on the road. Not much rhymes with Canby so I had to get creative. I used the phrase ‘can be’ and strung every fact I could think of . Before I knew it I had a song about my little town and the 150 year old farm I grew up on. When I played it for my mom she said she wished she had thought of it first.” For more than a decade Olivia has included her song Canby in concerts across the US, even France, New Zealand and Australia.
After graduating high school in Canby, Olivia continued to play music as she started college at Oregon State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in agriculture business management, “a back up plan in case music doesn’t work out” she joked. But music continued to fire her soul and after college Olivia started commuting to Nashville to write and record demos. She continues to base herself out of Oregon but spends about half her year in Nashville.
In 2019 Olivia decided it was time to start planning for her second album. She shopped around for a producer and narrowed down her song choices. Once again mother, Joni Harms, offered some valuable advice by suggesting Olivia reach out to D. Scott Miller, a former songwriter and friend of Joni’s when she was signed to Capital Records in the late eighties. It was obvious that D. Scott understood the sound and direction Olivia was aiming for. Together they chose 10 songs from Olivia's catalog to record and set a recording date in 2020.
Covid19 postponed recording twice, but Olivia wasn’t going to let a pandemic kill her dream. “I figured that no one knew how long this would last, and no one gets anywhere by putting their dreams on hold. So we went ahead with the recording in May of 2020. My mom accompanied me to Nashville and we had a blast making the project!”
Olivia has released 2 singles from her upcoming album “Rhinestone Cowgirl”. The singles “Hey There Cowboy” and “Gypsy” each gained over 15k views within the first weekend of being released. Olivia says “seeing the numbers climb was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever felt. I poured my heart and soul into the songs and the project. So to see them do so well as an independent project right off the bat was amazing!”
Olivia looks forward to getting back on the road again and playing her new music live. “I’ve opened for acts like Dan+Shay, Old Dominion, Mark Chesnutt, Jerrod Niemann, and Diamond Rio. It’s wonderful to see my name next to these greats, but it’s interacting with people, seeing them smile and hearing their stories that I miss the most. Kirk & I had a great time on the Podcast.... so much so he forgot to mention during recording he competed in a show "Extreme Cowboy Backcountry Invitational" in which he won the Grand Champion & the Top Colt buckle.
As Kirk tells it..."I was born and raised in the interior of BC, near the widely known Shuswap lakes. I hail from a large ranching and blue collar background. Our family is large, but we are quite close knit. I was raised along-side cousins who are more like siblings and we all share common interests in horses, ranching, hunting and sports. Having family that ranched in BC and AB meant that we were on the road, between the two, often. After high-school, I migrated to AB (GOD’s COUNTRY) because it’s always felt like home to me. It’s where I wanted to be. I live on a ranch, near Okotoks, AB and still spend a great deal of my time on the highway, living my best life. I love all sports but I have to admit that Skijor season is a HUGE highlight for me! When I can mix my best friends, horses, snow and speed, it doesn’t get much better! Towing a skier/snowboarder down a track, at mock-chicken speed, is a thrill beyond measure! It’s even better when we toss someone on a lounge and team-up two horses to rip them down the runway, in front of thousands of screaming fans! I teach Grade 2 and Gym, at a Catholic school, by day and it truly lights up my life. Each day is a new adventure and the energy we share is inspiring and life-giving! Our family has encountered a great deal of loss, both young and old. From losing my youngest brother, cousins, several uncles and my grandparents, that loss, either natural in progression or sudden has both deepened my faith and our family unity. We can look at loss and be saddened, which is OK, but we can also use it to celebrate the time we did share together and use those memories/experiences to better the lives of others, knowing that would make them smile. I live life in the fast lane and have faced several injuries along the way. I’ve broken many bones and lived through several fairly traumatic accidents both in vehicles and with livestock. I’ve had a major skull fracture and roughly 15 concussions. I’ve experienced struggles with permanent headaches, speech deficits and memory inconsistency but I also refuse to let any of these minor side-affects slow me down. I’ve aptly earned the nickname “Gongshow” and it’s a bit of a handle that outlines who I am… Life is meant to be lived and I plan on sliding into my pine-box yelling – NOW THAT WAS A RIDE! At this point in my life, I don’t rodeo but it’s always been and continues to be a huge part of our family and who we are.
I love the sport and many of my friends are part of that community. Given my time constraints, I prefer to ride on the ranch, move cows with family/friends, explore the backcountry that surrounds us and find cool spots for unique images… I focus on conditioning and establishing quality horses that can compete in multiple disciplines. I’ve won several invitational “cowboy challenges” for top-colt and all-around titles.
To me, the “West” is a way of life. It’s a culture that embodies hard-work and community. The West is rich in history and grounded in traditions that have been carried forward for generations. Authenticity and integrity are two of the most important aspects of the Western way of life, to me. In my images, I aim to share authentic experiences and those who have a story to share. Above all, I aim to portray our western way of life in an appealing and reputable manner."

Originally from New Mexico, Katie now resides in Ryan, Oklahoma, and works alongside her husband and father on the family’s cattle ranch.

As the ranch manager at her family’s Oklahoma cattle operation, Jennifer Hudgins knows how she likes things done and expects only the best from her staff. Working side-by-side with her father — an old school cowboy, she’s thankful for all the insight he’s bestowed upon her. Ryan’s personal story is like no other artist in country music today. Growing up with a family of eleven in a small town in Floral City, Florida, he joined the Army right after high school. After several years of working as a Military Intelligence Analyst, Ryan followed in the footsteps of his two older brothers, Steve and Aaron, by attending Warrant Officer Candidate School and flight school. He graduated top of his class in flight school, becoming a Black Hawk Aviator. In April 2003, he deployed to Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. Shortly after, one of his brothers, Aaron, was deployed just west of him in Fallujah.
On January 8, 2004, Aaron was killed in action when the Medivac helicopter he was a passenger in was shot down by enemy fire. Ryan certainly understood mortality and the risks of combat… After all, Aaron had survived the bloody 1993 battle in Mogadishu, Somalia – the same battle that became the basis for the movie, Black Hawk Down. When Aaron died, however, something changed for Ryan. He returned from combat, taking a new position training the next generation of Army aviators and officers at Fort Rucker, Alabama and has not piloted a Black Hawk since that fateful day.
On December 17, 2013 Ryan’s brother-in-law, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Randy Billings, was killed in action in Afghanistan when the Black Hawk helicopter he was piloting was shot down by an enemy ground-detonated explosive device. This second heartbreaking loss made the Weaver family a two-time Gold Star family. Both of his brothers’ ultimate sacrifices continue to fuel Ryan’s fire to accomplish his dreams in music.
In late 2016, Ryan released the music video for his single “Burn,”featuring Kris “Tanto” Paranto and John “Tig” Tiegen from the movie 13 Hours: Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. “Burn” aired nationwide on The Country Network and Heartland, and internationally at over 5,000 retailers, restaurants, and entertainment venues throughout the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017. Ryan’s first music video “Crank It”played nationally on ZUUS Country TVand TNN/Heartland Networkand spent 8 weeks on their Top 10 Video Countdown – a network record.
In 2017, Ryan was named the Patriotic Voice of the PBR(Professional Bull Riders) for theirCelebrate AmericaCampaign. The World Finals is the biggest global stage in professional bull riding – a booming sport now seen in more than 400 million homes worldwide. The Celebrate AmericaCampaignis a season-long initiative that honors America’s heroes, inspires youth, and brings communities together. Weaver made his debut in the primetime performance slot, which was previously held by Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler in 2016. At that time, the PBR officially launched Ryan as a PBR artist and debuted his new EP entitled Celebrate America. Ryan worked closely with hit songwriter Wynn Varble on the Celebrate AmericaEP, co-writing three of the four songs. He has toured the U.S. and internationally to Australia with the PBR in 2018 and 2019, performing his songs and singing the “National Anthem” at US events. He has several performances scheduled in Australia this year.
Ryan performed on the first single from the West Point Military Academy’s Benny Havens Band’s debut album Songs That Save Our Lives. The song was short-listed for GRAMMY Award consideration in the American Roots category. The album also featured Charlie Daniels.
Ryan released two singles in 2019 titled “ARRIVAL” and “Time Like This.” He is currently working on a human trafficking awareness short film and collateral music video for ARRIVAL, set to release in the fall of 2020. He is also conducting multiple motivational speaking engagements while promoting his partnerships with Nine Line Apparel, Lane Boots, Soledier Socks, Liberty Home Concealment and Forj’d America.

Prior to entrepreneurship Luke gained experience in the Professional Coaching industry with the Flippen Group in from 2013-2015 after spending 2 years in the oil sector with Chesapeake Energy, a US leading producer of oil and natural gas. Luke spent time throughout Oklahoma and Texas as a project manager, site supervisor, and operations analyst improving rig move efficiencies and operational drilling practices as part of Chesapeake’s Northern Division Drilling Department. Prior to his time in the oil industry Luke spent 5 years in the United States Army as a platoon leader, fire direction officer, fire support officer and finally as a battalion operations officer. His time in the military was spent in several different organizations and leadership cultures including units within the 101st Airborne Division and Division West First Army. He spent the last two years of his military time working with senior military leaders across the country in US Army Reserve Commands and multiple National Guard units developing unique deployment plans and training programs to fit the US Army’s rapidly evolving missions around the world. He left active duty as a Captain in early 2012.
It is Luke’s personal mission to spend everyday making a positive, purposeful, impact on all the relationships and interactions in his sphere of influence.

Funerals & Memorials As many of you know, Pete passed away early in the morning on Friday, January 8th. Pete suffered a heart attack the previous weekend and underwent surgery, but sadly experienced a second heart attack that he was not able to recover from. He was comforted in the hospital by his daughter, Alysa, inhis last few days.
Pete faced many obstacles throughout his life. He was diagnosed with diabetes during his childhood, periodically suffered blindness in one eye, paralysis in certain body parts, survived ventricular reconstruction, along with right ventricle, kidney, liver and pancreas transplants, rendered paraplegic and the amputation of his left leg. However, in spite of all the physical obstacles he faced, he continued to persevere. Always with positivity and kindness to others.
Those that knew Pete, knew he had two loves. First his daughter, Alysa, who was his world. She was a miracle baby, who defied all odds, as doctors didn't believe Pete would be able to have children. Second, his love for everything country music, especially as a singer and songwriter. Pete was a genuine man and a true cowboy, both at heart and in real life. If you were fortunate enough to hear him sing, which many of us were, I'd like to imagine he left an imprint on your heart, as he did mine.
Pete was born August 10, 1971 in Omaha, NE. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Wagner and his mother, Sharon Bonacci. Survived by brother, Ross Lorello; sister Tamara Taylor; and daughter, Alysa Wagner.
Let's continue to celebrate Pete's life together. Please share your memories, pictures, and videos, so we can all remember and cherish the person he was.
If you knew Pete, you couldn't dispute how much he touched the lives of everyone around him. Now, it's our turn to give back and help Alysa as she deals with the loss of her father. Ben Longwell owns and operates True West Horsemanship, based most of the year in New Zealand.
Ben grew up on the Western Slope of Colorado, riding horses and working cattle. After finishing school, he spent much of his time doing day work for different ranches in the area, learning from the experience of the ranchers. He also spent a year working as assistant trainer at a Quarter Horse breeder in Colorado, learning the basics of colt starting and true horsemanship.
Much of the next six years was spent in the colt starting & horse training business and his knowledge and experience continued to expand. During this time Ben worked on a 300,000 acre cattle & horse ranch in Wyoming, where he was also involved in conducting horsemanship clinics and demonstrations.
Adding to a lifetime of practical equine experience, he is influenced by the methods of such horsemen as Tom & Bill Dorrance, Ray Hunt, and Buck Brannaman and has ridden with Richard Caldwell, Jeff Sanders, Martin Black and Dave Weaver.
In 2011, Ben and his wife Natalie moved to her native country of New Zealand and took the opportunity to build a horse training and clinic business.
Since then, Ben has been privileged to be a returning Clinician at NZ’s national horse expo seven different years.
In 2014 Ben was invited to participate in New Zealand’s first Kaimanawa Stallion Challenge – where trainers were randomly given a Kaimanawa Stallion straight from the wild and competed in 2 stages of competition.
Ben has appeared in and written for a number of Equine Magazines, both in New Zealand and internationally, as well as appearing in an episode of Masterclass on Country TV. He also has an Online Video Library that contains a wide range of instructional videos for advancing students’ skills and horsemanship regardless of discipline or breed.

Garan Buller is from central Oregon just outside of Prineville. He trains barrel horses and futurity horses as my part time job and lifestyle and also plans large charity barrel races his my families non profit.
He is a full time student in a theology and business program through Grand Canyon University. Horses have been a center piece in his life from a young age and he got more into barrel racing and training through high school. Horses were the thing that pushed me to keep going throughout all of my medical problems growing up, and states "I would Literally try to get back on the horse." This was a gift and passion he believes God gave him. Garan loves helping people and folds Gods love into everything he does whether its training horses, raising money for his Families emergency medical fund for rural families, making Tik Tok videos or starting a small western clothing company.

As an actor, he has the distinction of being an original cast member of the longest running medical drama in television history, Grey’s Anatomy. Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, he began his acting career at Cleveland’s Karamu House, the oldest African-American theater in the United States. Born and raised in southern Michigan on a small farm. Married my high school sweetheart Harriet while in college. We have a son, two daughters, six grand children and 6 great grandchildren. Graduated from Michigan State University in 1964 with a BS in Agricultural
Engineering and a commission in the U.S. Army. Served approximately 2 years active duty in the Corps of Engineers including 13 months in Vietnam; discharged as a 1 st Lieutenant.
Started work at Caterpillar Tractor Co. as a research engineer in 1964. Worked innumerous jobs over 33 years in assignments involving research, new product development and testing, manufacturing, quality improvement and human resource development. Retired in 1997. With the military experience and work at Caterpillar I have lived in 6 states and 2 foreign countries.
I have always loved horses and bought my first, a Welsh pony, when I was five. My love of the cowboy life and ways has been lifelong. My father was born in Adams Co.
North Dakota where my Grandfather and Great Grandfather had homesteaded. I believe this is the seed for my western roots. Riding and developing ranch and roping horses is still still provides great pleasure.
I always wanted to learn to rope… for as far back as I can remember, and always fooled around with one at home. In 1993 I had the opportunity to partner on some Corriente cattle and still enjoy raising them; we have a herd registered with the North American Corriente Assn. In 1995 I had the opportunity to attend my first roping clinic. It was fantastic. Since then I have been able to profit from help from so many generous professionals.
Beyond my family, horses, roping and Corriente cattle have been the focus of my retirement. Since 1997 we have been able to spend a good portion of every winter in Wickenburg, Arizona. My wife loves the desert, exploring and walking daily, and I have all the great opportunities to rope there and ride on the desert.
My struggle associated with learning to rope, coupled with my experience in quality improvement led me to write “Rope Your Dream”. This experience has led me to so many wonderful people and so much satisfaction in my retirement. Through this all my wife and family have provided wonderful support and encouragement; and God has blessed me with the health and resources for this incredible enjoyment.

I have worked with clients from all walks of life. From individual puppy parents to large families. As well as professional athletes to pioneer and icons in the beauty industry. But I have come to realize that my clients all seem to have a few things In common: they share a deep love, commitment and passion to create a relationship with their dog that they have always dreamt of having. Together we can turn those dreams into reality .

From the time I was able to walk, I had a deep interest and curiosity of animals in general and even more specifically Dogs .

As told by Mark: Born in Yreka California, my family moved to Running Springs in Southern California till fourth grade, and from there we moved all over the state of California because of my Fathers work with Cal Trans. I have lived in every part of the state at one time of another.
I went to five different high schools Burlingame high, Hanford high, Yreka High, Happy Camp High and Graduated from Peninsula High in San Mateo. Went on to some college at CSM but most of what I have in education has come from hard fought battles in the real world, not academia.
I have been self Employed since I was seven years old. My first business was a worm farm. I went on to other various business, paper routes, played accordion in a Italian restaurant , projectionist in a movie theater, Pool service company, Licensed Timber Harvester, along with other logging related activities. I build split rail fences and sold wood by the cord. I was also employed by various government agencies included CDF as Timber Faller, USFS Fighting Fire, US Army as a Power Diesel Generation Mechanic, and the public works Department at the City of San Mateo.
I Started a Marble and Tile Delivery Service in the Bay Area in the early 80’s where I studied Law. Yes you heard that correct while driving delivery and being in the truck most of each day, instead of listen to music , I listened to Law and Taxation courses from various colleges including Cornell and Loyola just to name a few. So while driving delivery I listened and studied under America’s Greatest Law Professors. I referred to that old 1972 Chevy truck as my university on wheels or Commute U.
Somewhere in this time frame my Son was diagnosed with cancer and I had almost a million dollars in medical expenses that I had no idea how I was going to pay. So I started a tax preparation and consulting business, while also working for and tutoring under some very experience businessmen.
I have been very lucky to have had some amazing mentors and associates. Olympic weightlifter\tax Consultant, a Tax Attorney, Professional Baseball Player, Sales experts, Data analysts, all highly trained and motivated people. The best mentors I could find in their respective fields of expertise. They all contributed to my success in many different ways. I have completed so many courses on Law and Taxation it would be redundant to list them. So I like to say I went to the University of Hard knocks and earned a Degree in Results. I have been practicing in the field of Taxation for about thirty years now specializing in small business tax strategies. I also specialize in trouble shooting any problems concerning engagements with the IRS including but not limited to audits, collection, record keeping, entity selection and implementation.
I have also been involved with, and helped set up and run several Not for profit corporations and associations. I currently host talk radio show on KCNR 1460 a local am station.

Zach was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. His love for horses started at an early age, through rodeo. He enjoys calf roping and team roping at amateur and pro rodeos, and has been an avid Cross Fit enthusiast for the last three years, competing in local competitions. It is Zach’s passion in the arena that led to his passion in equine dentistry and helping horses. Zach is a graduate of the Texas Institute of Equine Dentistry where he obtained his first certification. He has also worked under his great friend, and world renown Equine Dentist Randy Riedinger. He has worked on horses all over Oregon and California, for many renowned horsemen and horsewomen, including 3 x World Champion Heeler Jade Corkill. He has been practicing equine dentistry for 9 years now. He became certified through the IAED (International Association of Equine Dentistry) in 2017. He has devoted the last 8 years of his life to helping horse owners and their horses solve common eating and riding issues associated with the mouth. In 2018 he was appointed chairman of the IAED Government Relations Committee. Since 2014 Zach has been committed to restoring the horse owners right to choose, as well as protecting the livelihoods of all equine dentists throughout various states in the U.S.

Garrett Lacey is a Livestock Officer with the Arizona Department of Agriculture. Working in Southern Yavapai, Northern Maricopa, Northern Gila and Mohave County he has been with the Department for approximately 3.5 years. His Law Enforcement career started with Buckeye Police Department, shortly after he realized he could utilize my training to help protect the livestock industry.
Born and raised in Morristown, Arizona Garrett grew up in the family business doing pump and windmill working on many ranches throughout Arizona. He spent most of my free time helping on the family ranch outside of Wickenburg, Arizona.
At 17 he enlisted in the Army as a Military Police Officer and served as a Team Leader in the 855tMP Company for many years. He is currently in the process of re-classing to become a crew chief for the Blackhawk helicopter.
He resides in Waddell, Arizona with his beautiful wife, Allie. Together they manage a small ranch located outside of Wickenburg, Arizona. Where they are focusing on bringing the quality of meat back to the market.

“All grit and no quit.” These are the deeply rooted words that Josh Ward lives by to an absolute fault.
An anchored mindset that has led this Texas country music rising star from a drifter’s adolescence to the jeopardous game of the rodeo circuit to the punishing toil of the Texas oil fields, and on into the fickle arms of the music business. Some might argue whether it is having nine consecutive #1 hit singles in Texas under his belt that has garnered him staying power, or that he is killing it in the social media world with over 2 million views on YouTube and over 3 million streams globally on Spotify. Maybe it’s his 3 venerated album releases, or maybe because he can not only bat a full house on a 200 plus dates a year touring average, but also rope in crowds on a first time performance in an unfamiliar town. While impressive, all those distinctions can come and go in the world of music. The reason for his staying power turns out to be quite a simple one. And that is because Josh Ward is country music blood to bone, and both Josh Ward and country music are simply not going to go away.
Josh spent 2017 heavily touring off the strength of his previous album “Holding Me Together.” All six radio singles hit the #1 spot on the Texas Regional Radio Chart and Ward quickly found himself going from opening act to the headlining spot in a matter of months. But in the midst of his growing popularity, he gladly bent the knee to fellow country music artist and comrade Cody Johnson who introduced Ward to his West Coast audiences. Getting the chance to be endorsed by Cody Johnson and perform at sold out shows in brand new markets is the kind of opportunity music artists chomp at the bit to have. When Ward and his band returned to those areas a few months later all by their lonesome, he simply could not have guessed at the reception he would encounter. “When we went back to the West Coast by ourselves, it was sold out shows. I was literally blown away.” It was at that very point while far away from his familiar stomping grounds in Texas with new fans slapping him on the back that Ward knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that his music was catching on in a big way.
The culmination of his radio success and his victories out on the road can easily be attributed to the actual man behind the music. In life, sometimes a person gets dealt a lean hand and has to choose his family from strangers along the way, people who make a conscious choice to take you under their wing and help guide you through life. Ward considers himself a very lucky man despite some rough teenage years. The love and support of his extended family and his chosen family was the concrete foundation he built his life on, and his fans are a big part of that. It’s why they are drawn to him through the speakers, because he is what he sings. It’s why they are drawn to him from the stage, because he’s an old friend who’s come back to visit. He’s the animated truth of all he stands for, a self-made family man who always has a welcome smile and an open spot in the family. To his loyal fans he feels he owes everything. “Words can’t describe the emotion that gets put into these runs and the work that we do. And these people pay their hard earned money to see it every night. Thank you. Every time I step on stage, you guys remind me that I have more than I deserve.” And so his brand new album, so aptly named, is Ward’s dedication to his growing family.
“More Than I Deserve” marks Ward’s fourth full length album release and it will greet the fans on May 4, 2018. With the philosophy of “don’t fix what isn’t broken,” Ward went right back into the Rosewood studios where he recorded all his previous releases and joined producer Greg Hunt once again behind the board to create the next dimension of Josh Ward country music. The new album is 11 tracks strong featuring the signature instrumentation from guys like John Carroll (Cory Morrow) on guitar, Nate Coon (Aaron Watson) on drums, Milo Deering (The Eagles) on acoustic guitar, steel, dobro, fiddle, viola and mandolin, and Terry McBride (McBride and The Ride) on backing vocals and also writer of three of the tracks. The album is classic Josh Ward style on every front with just a little more gusto and a little more miles on it. Full bodied and emotionally fragrant, every song jumps out kicking up the kind of country music nostalgia Ward is revered for. The first single “All About Lovin’” (written by Brice Long, Terry McBride and Chris Stapleton) tells you everything you need to know about this album, a sexy tonkafied driver of a song that guarantees you’ll be lacing up your dancing shoes by the time you hit the chorus. “Home Away From Home” is country piled on top of more country, and is, as the song says, “a two steppin’ juke box heaven.” While Ward has never been afraid to sing other people’s songs due to his belief that a good song simply needs to be heard, his own savvy for the art just so happens to be represented on three of the most powerful tracks. “A Cowboy Can” is the true grit of this album and is what Ward says best describes himself. “One More Shot Of Whiskey” is a sobering tale told with 90 proof conviction, and then there is “More Than I Deserved” ringing out with its vulnerable steel and head hanging resolve. “More Than I Deserve” is country music addiction in its purest form. Josh Ward did not reinvent the wheel here, but damn, it’s polished surface sure rides smooth.
Josh and his band will be seeing a lot more of the country this year hitting a lot of new places on his never ending tour. It’s still hard for him to believe he has come this far and he doesn’t take one mile of it for granted. “I never thought I would be rolling down the road with one of the hottest bands in Texas playing shows across the United States. I’m happy to be here.”

Pitched at Fresno city and was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2011. Played for the Astros for 7 seasons in the minor leagues. WhereTheyBuck.com was founded in 2011 by professional bull rider and entrepreneur Wacey Barta. The idea for this bull riding and roughstock network had been on the drawing board for some time but just never had the time invested in it to bring it to its beginning. After severely breaking his leg in a bull riding wreck and being immobile for several months, the time was finally available and here we are today. The idea of creating this network came to Barta after becoming the “go to guy”, so to speak, around his area for people looking for bull riding and rodeo news, information, contacts and so on. After realizing that there was no legitimate source for this news and information locally as well as a lack of a complete rider, fan and contract personal network nationally, the idea to create the best bull riding and roughstock network for all aspects surrounding the sport and industry came to light and WhereTheyBuck.com was born.
Barta, a third generation bull rider, originally from Nebraska, lived in several places across the country before coming to Arizona fifteen years ago due to his father’s military career stationing his family in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Although his father, grandfather and several uncles all competed in rodeo growing up, a lack of junior rodeo events or organizations in his previous areas of residence kept him from being able to start riding bulls until moving to Arizona. A few short months after moving to Arizona, with his dad having already scoped out where to go practice and get started, Wacey began riding bulls at the age of 15. After learning the ropes and competing in Junior, High School and amateur rodeos in Arizona, Barta went to both Western Texas College in Snyder, TX and Central Arizona College in Casa Grande, AZ on a rodeo scholarship and competed in college rodeo while going to a handful of P.B.R and P.R.C.A. events on the side.
Ten years later, although competing mostly part time, Barta has qualified for the P.R.C.A. Turquoise Circuit Finals ten times as of 2011 and fortunately enough, been able to taste at least some success at all levels he has competed in. Several serious injuries have definitely plagued his bull riding career as he has suffered a shattered face with reconstructive surgery, four broken wrist with surgeries, broken and dislocated shoulder, broken collarbone and most recently, a compound fractured tibia and fibula with major surgery to repair, just to name a few.Over the years, Wacey has been fortunate enough to be involved with and gain knowledge and experience on several different levels of bull riding and rodeo from competition to judging, production, marketing, sponsor acquisition as well as administrative experience. During one of his several extended breaks due to injury, after judging at numerous events throughout the Southwest, Barta began judging for the P.B.R. at the Touring Pro level and judged P.B.R. events, A.B.B.I. events including derbies, futurities, and classic events at the Built Ford Tough series level and the Touring Pro level. Wacey has been a Turquoise Circuit bull riding director for six years as well as on the P.R.C.A. Turquoise Circuit board of directors for the last two years.
This experience, along with extensive experience with sponsor acquisition, marketing and sales and event production as well as founding and managing his own, as well as other peoples businesses outside of rodeo, have combined with his knowledge as a competitor and fan to help form the content and framework for the WhereTheyBuck.com network to build the most complete bull riding and rough stock network for fans, competitors, contractors, contract personal, advertisers and corporate partnerships that there has ever been.

Tom retired from 20 years of Active Duty in the U.S. Army in 2015 and moved to Ozark with his wife Kacey. While working his day job, Tom decided to start a garage-based LLC called TommyHawks, building custom tomahawks for the military, law-enforcement, and the general enthusiast. Drawing on an extensive background in Army Special Operations, Tom infused the TommyHawks brand with all things kick-axe, and is extremely excited to run Southwest Missouri's first indoor axe-throwing venue. Axe throwing is about as historical of a pastime as you can get. From the first waves of Northmen to the American Frontier - tomahawks, axes, and hatchets were an "EDC" (every day carry) item of those eras. Even those awe-inspiring warriors would get bored. So what do you think they did? Threw axes around for practice, competition, and yes - even FUN!
Today, we like to think of it as upholding a tradition. The tradition of warriors - Vikings, Rangers, Cheftains alike. I had a great time talking with Glenn Orms owner of "The Cow Lot" & I'm sure you will find the history behind it as amazing I as did.
In 1952, Nat Fleming, a young, North Texas Bootmaker, Rodeo Announcer, and entrepreneur, in Wichita Falls, Texas, had a dream. The Cow Lot was where essential work was done on the ranch, where cowboys worked their cattle. Nat dreamed of providing the cowboys who worked there with two must-have tools of their trade, a good hat and a pair of boots that “FIT”. That dream manifested into an all-out Western retail store, the Cow Lot. A 54-year body of work began, dedicated to Service, Quality, Honesty & Integrity…i.e. the Western Way of Life and How You Wear It.
To enter the doors of the Cow Lot was to enter Nat’s dream. The scene emulated the American West and its way of doing business. Product quality was second only to the integrity of the personalized service. Each salesperson was an actual cowboy, passionate to serve you, their guest. Whether you were the President of the bank or the bank held the mortgage on your property, you were treated like you were the King of the Cowboys, or the Queen of the Cowgirls, as the case might be. Art was created before your very eyes by one of Nat’s hired cowhands posing as a salesperson. Hats were shaped to best serve your lifestyle and personality. Boots were fitted. Fit was guaranteed. Prices were affordable. Customer satisfaction was the order of the day.
Together with his longtime friend Gene O’Brien, and later my father Dewey Orms, they built the Cow Lot into one of the finest Western Stores in North Texas, winning several awards including the Wendy Ryon Western Retailer of the Year. Nat met his life partner and wife, Tawana, at the store when she happened in for a new pair of Levis. The likes of legendary Larry McMurtry, author of Lonesome Dove, whose family ranched in the nearby town of Archer City, Texas, would stop and have a cup of coffee and visit and maybe buy a new pair of boots or a new hat. Nat was a pioneer in TV and Radio. In the early ’50s The Nat Fleming Show was one of the first on local TV providing 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. A big deal then because TV was only on 3 hours a day. He started broadcasting a weekly Saturday morning radio show from the store, The Nat Fleming Horn Honkin’ Show. When he saw a car drive by he would ask, ‘Honk your horn if you are listening .” 90% of the time the driver would honk and wave. The store grew and so did Nat’s inventory. Boot sizes ran from AAA widths to D. Fit was of utmost importance. Nat believed, ‘If you have to have a license to cut hair, you should have to have one to sell shoes.” People came from all over the United States to buy boots that “Fit”, the same was true with hats. Longtime Cow Lot general manager, JR Gahagan, shaped and fit most of the cowboys who were shooting the then popular and now famous Marlboro Man advertisements on a nearby ranch.
Growing up in the Cow Lot, I was officially hired on in my Junior year of High School, where my skills in the art of boot fitting and hat shaping were fine-tuned. Just as importantly, I advanced my education in Nat’s University of Down Home Business, majoring in Homespun Philosophy and graduated with degrees in Service, Quality, Honesty & Integrity.
After 54 years of service to his customers, Nat closed the doors to the great retail icon of North Texas and retired to work the real Cow Lot at his ranch in Byers, TX, where he was born and raised. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 96 leaving behind his wife Tawanna and his son Marty, who still run their cattle operation.
In 2013 I found myself presented with an opportunity to re-open the Cow Lot. With Nat’s blessing, I took on the Cow Lot brand and created a hybrid version….an event based retail Western Hat store, the focus being on the hand shaping of quality name brand hats. Most recently the Cow Lot has taken on Western footwear.
Nat coined the phrase, “You can tell by lookin’, it came from the Cow Lot”…And ‘You can tell by lookin’ where a cowboy is from by the shape of his hat.
The art of hand shaping hats is simply that -art. Each rodeo event, each discipline of horsemanship, each region of the country has their own unique way of wearing their hat: The art of ‘creasing’ or ‘shaping’ hats was perfected at the Cow Lot..and you could tell by lookin’.
Our audience consists of participants and spectators at major horse shows and rodeos located in, and West of, the Rocky Mountains. The ability to get a properly hand shaped hat is hard to find. Not surprising, demand and customer response to Service, Quality, Honesty & Integrity has been phenomenal.
Our mission is to continue Nat’s dream of Service, Quality, Honesty & Integrity…the Western Way of Life and How You Wear It, by providing an atmosphere of personalized customer service through the art of hand shaping cowboy hats and the fitting of Western footwear.

Randy Bloomer is one very cool Modern Cowboy. An entrepreneur he founded & built the "Bloomer Trailers" empire, survived a plane crash and hunted dangerous game in Africa. Really enjoyed talking with Randy a very down to earth and humble man.
We started Bloomer Trailers in 1998 in the middle of chemical alley on the LaMarque/Texas City line. By hiring the best and most experienced key people in the industry it allowed us to hit the ground running and start on the path of achieving the goals that have been our benchmark. Our goals were to build every trailer with the best components money could buy and build the components that we could do better than what was available. The key word we used was every component. By 2000 we had hit our stride and already had introduced many new components the horse trailer industry had never done. We have never stopped challenging ourselves to find a better or safer way to protect our customers and their livestock. That is where our slogan of the “blinders are off” came from.
When we named our newest model The Evolution it was to remind ourselves that we have yet to build the perfect trailer, so keep working on ideas.
In 2002 Bloomer Trailers started building a state of the art production facility in Central Texas to serve as a convenient location for dealers, customers and our vendors. Upon completion in 2003 Bloomer moved over forty employees and their families to Central Texas to continue the craftsmanship that was expected and desired by the Bloomer Trailers customers.
We feel to describe Bloomer Trailers is by photo collections through the years… and we would like to say to our customers, dealers and employees… you are the best!

Bloomer Trailers is the Official Trailer of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, National Reined Cowhorse Association, World Series of Team Roping, Texas High School Rodeo Association, Pendleton Roundup and Best of the Best Rodeo.
