Pete and Penelope

This is a podcast for storytellers. Each episode @adam_bush interviews a storyteller in the industries of television, film or literature. Why is it called The Pete and Penelope Podcast? A couple of years ago, Adam and his pal Stephen began creating a television show for preschoolers called Pete and Penelope. To coincide with the creation of the show, they started a blog to let other people passionate about storytelling enjoy the journey with them. The Pete and Penelope Podcast is just another way for Adam and Stephen to give back to those who have been such a support. [ About Pete and Penelope ] Pete and Penelope is an educational, puppet, television series for preschoolers starring our two favorite siblings who love to have fun! These crazy kids spend their days in the ultimate treehouse, complete with rope swings, secret passage ways, trap doors and so much more. To add to the fun, every time they step inside, the treehouse comes alive with a host of unlikely, wonderful characters. While there are great educational shows that focus on kids' IQ, this series focuses on their EQ, or emotional quotient, helping kids develop their emotions and social skills. Pete and Penelope is currently being prepared to pitch to networks and producers. Visit PeteAndPenelope.tv to stay up to date, or visit Facebook, Instagram & Twitter @PeteAndPenelope.

  • 7 - Eisley's Sherri Dupree-Bemis | Episode 06: Pete and Penelope Podcast

Eisley was formed in 1997 in their bedroom after youngest sibling, Stacy, wrote their first song at age 8. They performed first show in Spring '98, grew in local coffee house/rock venue, played 100's of shows as unsigned indie for 4 years ('98 - '02) in Texas, found and audience in Dallas’s Deep Ellum crowd about the time Sunny Day Real Estate released their 4th record. With a hand full of inspiring songs, new management and great press from music critics in the burgeoning Dallas scene, the young indie-pop group released their debut ep on Record Collection (Mike Mogis produced), signed w/ Warners, jumped on Coldplay’s Rush of Blood tour and began carving out a National following. The band's undaunted commitment to their own unique, visually imaginative brand of song-crafting has both nurtured their base and shielded them from mass homogenization. Indifferent to industry boundaries/conventions, Eisley continues to expand - focused on who they are, writing what they feel/experience as they remain devoted to song-crafting, relational marketing, touring. In this episode, @adam_bush talks to lead singer Sherri Dupree-Bemis about songwriting, living the touring-family life and how to write songs in the closet.
