Open up social media and all you'll see are fitness influencers doing these "effective workouts" for engagement. Backflip deadlifts is a show to showcase the intesnity of the fitness level one has. This is not necessary to achieve the body you want. Just because someone on Instagram has an 8 pack, doesn't mean to follow there ab workouts so you can have one too. There are many other varibles to an 8 pack than doing 1,000 crunches with summer salts. Pay attention to was is in reality for you and can be done everyday to puruse your goals.

Yes there are three different types of body types that deal with fat loss and muscle growth differently but each one still needs effort. Just because someone is a mesomorph does not mean building muscle isn't hard work. Just because someone is naturally skinny doesnt mean it's going to be easy to look more "fit" becasue they're already low in BF. Comparing and assunming things will not get you far towards your goals. Instead of asking these questions and blaming "genetics" how about work hard for the next 3, 6, or even 12 months, and then see what kind of damage you can do with dedication, no excuses, patience, and discipline.

Life can be very stressful right? Having to deal with kids, work, school, business, life, friends, drama, etc, and then also juggle all that with meal prepping, training, cardio, recovery, etc. I understand how overwhelming this can all be. After training hundreds of different people, I've seen a very common recurrence in all of them. After even there first workout, they go home and sleep better. Wake up sore, but happy. Go throughout their day with better mental awareness and emotional stability. Training also applies a stress to your body but a stress that will train you to function with stress of the world.

Nutrition for progress requires a few things but one is the most important, and that's consistency. Without consistency, your nutrition will only be as good as that one meal. The more nutritional valuable meals you consume in a day, then in a week, then in a month, will allow your body to make changes with what you're giving it (shredding fat, getting healthier, building muscle, etc). This does not happen without consistency. Being consistent with your calories, proteins, carbs, and fats are important, but in my opinion, there is another aspect that's more important, and that's micronutrients. Micronutrients are made up of all your vitamins and minerals that create the strong structure you have (your health) to enhance your performance in this life. Have you ever seen a fancy "7g of protein' label on the front of a specific product (mainly a high processed one). Do you see it and think that that product then is a valuable source of protein? I use to always think this, and every label had me fooled. After learning more about nutrition and talking to nutrition experts I began to learn about "Macro Dominent Foods". This is when a specific macro has more grams than any other one in that specific product. Like I mention within the episode, a lot of foods have great nutritional value, but when it comes down to losing weight, dropping body fat, you need to pay attention to macros and calories. If there is a label saying "7g of protien" then that product wants your attention because they know for sure, it's not a protein dominent product.

One thing that really bugs me in the "fitness influencer world" is when someone puts on their feed, "Do these 5 exercises to get a 6 pack by summer". So you're telling me, if I did these 5 exercises, I would have a 6 pack by summer? I don't need to be in a caloric deficit, or do any cardio? I've said it before and I'll always say it this way, training creates the opportunity for progress. Nutrition and recovery create that progress. This is the same with building muscle. One thing that I found very quickly inside of training was there is nothing else that will ever make you better as a person than challenge. What is the primary aspect of training, it's to challenge you to improve who you currently are to transform you into someone better. Whenever you are training for a new personal record you have no idea what's going to happen when you attempt that personal record. All you know is that you've been putting your heart and soul into training to achieve that personal record. What happens if you fail at it? What happens if you hurt yourself pulling it? What happens if no one's there to see it? These are the same things that will happen in life. You will work so hard to achieve things in your life that you might not even know you will achieve. You don't know all the unknown mysteries that are going to push you off the rails towards striving for that goal. You will work and grind every single day to achieve small milestones that no one is seeing but you.

I don't want you to think of something physical, I want you to think about something psychological. For example, is it fear that is holding you back from taking that first step to making a change in your job, career, relationship, school, business, or family? Is it fear that is making you second-guess yourself within every single decision that you make? This is a psychological counterproductive emotion that is holding you back from the success that you want within your health, business, career, Etc. Just like everything else, fear has a Kryptonite. Fear's worst enemy is confidence. Confidence is built whenever you challenge yourself in a situation that is uncomfortable and come out on the other side with an achievement of doing it anyways.

The leading causes of death in the US are self conflicted diseases! Self conflicted as in "we do this to ourselves"! The biggest thing that will always keep me on my toes is right now you could be creating a tumor or cancer cells within your body all due from a bad lifestyle in nutrition, hydration, sleep, and fitness. One thing for sure is aside from cancer and other major health diseases, there are other major health scares such as: High cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
These three diseases are all self conflicted from lifestyle. To even make things worse, out of these three self conflicted diseases, high cholesterol doesn't have any symptoms and will cause a heart attack or stroke without warning. Now to imagine that these diseases are seriously self conflicted still blows my mind, and still people will rely on medication when the ACTUAL CURE is improved lifestyle. Society now a days has painted this picture of how we should look. For females it's, Thin waist, skinny body, thing legs, broad shoulders, and flat tummy. For men it's, big biceps, 6 pack abs, 6% BF year round, ect. Are these realistic for everyone? Are these standards we should live by? Better yet, is this the definition of perfection? The definition of perfect is: having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.
"As good as it is possible to be". So not even the definition can say perfect means flawless or without imperfections. Your body, health, and life is YOURS. No one knows it, no one has your body, no one struggles like you do, no one is you but YOU! With this being said. strive for progress not perfection. Majority of people quit because the pain is to much to handle. Our nervous system is a beautiful thing. It let's us know what to stay away from. It lets us know when we feel uncomfortable and it's time to get somewhere a little more comfortable. One thing for sure is when the body feels pain, the body wants to try and find a way to stop it immediately no matter what is causing the pain.
Now you as the person in control of your body can decide what pain is good pain. When it comes down to specifically training, fitness, exercise, sports, ect, when we push our bodies to its limits we tend to let pain define our limits. Pain should never be a limit while on the other side lies progress. Things that are hard in life or within your health & fitness journey, will be the things that make you greater for tomorrow and that much closer to your goals. Majority of the time we get so focused on our goals (losing 10lbs, losing 20lbs, gaining muscle, getting faster, ect) that we lose sight of who we are and why we even began in the first place. On top of that, we strive to accomplish these goals over night or even in our first month, but in reality this won't happen (well at least in a healthy way). Doing to many changes or going drastic over night will cause a backlash effect that might push you further than where you are now. So how do we consistently move forward towards our progress?
We create small progress to fulfill drastic change towards your goals! In this episode I will explain how you can do this within your nutrition lifestyle, training, and mindset. Little moves can make a huge play, and this is how you must look at your journey. When you have a goal to shred 20lbs of fat and in 2 months all you lose is 5, don't put yourself down. Embrace your small progress and create the drastic change that you want!

The thought of getting "toned" doesn't exist within cardio. Cardio only burns the calories during the actual workout session and then your body will regulate back to square one. The human body is an incredible creation when it comes to how great we are able to adapt. With cardio your body will adapt to the amount of challenge it brings your body. For example, a 5 mile run at a 9 minute pace won't be hard in 2 months like it might be on day 1. This is also called, conditioning.
Conditioning is the goal when it comes down to cardiovascular training, but where in there does it say "cardio will help with fat loss and muscle growth"? It doesn't because cardio does makes no change in your resting metabolic rate. Your resting metabolic rate is the amount of calories you burn at rest. The way you can improve this is by STOPPING the cardio and begin the muscle growth (lift the weights). Everything needed to sustain & create fat loss to get "toned" isn't applied during cardio. Today we are in year 2020. let's take the next decade and say every year all you gain is 5lbs. In 12 months all you gain is 5lbs, not bad right? A lot of people can lose 5lbs overnight, so gaining 5lbs a year sounds like it wouldn't be to bad. Let's also say you're 25 right now and for next 10 years all you gain per year is 5lbs. By the time you're 35 you will have gained a total of 50lbs. 50 extra pounds on your joints, 50 extra pounds for your heart to pump blood through, 50 extra pounds that will press against your lungs making it hard to breathe.
This simple story happens millions of times to millions of people. This never made sense to me until the great, Tyler Christensen shared his story. His story is truly eye opening. He simplifies the facts of weight gain and weight loss. He talks about how fitness and movement improve brain functions, how you can save more money by buying healthier foods, and how making a change today can change your entire life.
The most amazing thing about Tyler's story is how he struggled in the beginning. How he lost weight then gained weight and ended up gaining more weight than with what he started with. This part of his story is amazing because he didn't quit. This part is amazing because this shows even with how great his success is with his body, it didn't start off all sunshine and rainbows. I've heard to many people say, "I just don't like veggies. I've tried it before and I just can't do it". Vegetables are a essential nutrient to life and give the body strong minerals and vitamins that keep us strong internally. Not only that, but I've heard people basically say, "I just can't eat healthy, I love to eat to much". Well isn't "healthy food" also food. Isn't it something that people eat. Why do you think people enjoy crap food? Because that's all they're TRAINING THEIR BODY TO KNOW.
So whenever you begin to introduce healthy foods into your body, yes their will be a time where your body will want to reject these amazing foods, but guess what. All you're gonna have to do is continue to introduce these foods into your lifestyle to train your body to enjoy them. There is no quick easy route, there is only hard work and effort. The body is a beautiful creation and not liking healthy foods is only a state of mind that we need to train differently in thinking.

Looking at that number on the scale and noticing it hasn't gone down, but you're doing everything you can to lose weight, change your lifestyle, and achieve your goals, can be very depressing. Not only that, but this will also create a self doubt that can be so toxic inside your mind that you will begin to doubt yourself with everything else in life.
I'm sure you've heard of the saying, "muscle weighs more than fat". Do you believe this is true? Is 1lb of muscle heavier than 1lb of fat? NO, IT IS NOT! The weight is neutral, the only thing that is different is the volume of the mass in 1lb of fat compared to the volume of mass in 1lb of muscle. Once you listen to this episode entirely, you will have better understanding of why you see body composition change before you see the number on the scale go down.

Have you ever been to the gym and just been happy you were there? You weren't worrying about how you looked, how much weight you're lifting, how good you look compared to that other person in the gym with 6 pack abs or nice legs & glutes? I am going to be honest, I only ever felt that way when I took 2 weeks off do to going to the field in the Army. I never felt that way with every session. You know the saying, "you don't know how great you have it, until it's gone"? Well when it comes to our health & body, this saying is accurate.
Our amazing guest speaker today, Christina Luna, always thought this way. When she became a mother, she began viewing her time working out as a gift. Every time she was able to workout, she cherished that time and worked on herself to better herself because she knew she is worth it. This is the mindset shift we must all make.
As you go through your transformation you will hit road blocks and set backs, but when you're going through a transformation journey because you love yourself enough to take care of the ONE body and ONE health you have, the fulfillment is 10x better. She has had 2 kids, lives with hypothyroid, left her corporate job, opened up her own business, and is currently kicking lupus's ass. One thing that Andrea says in this episode is even when she was big Andrea, she loved herself. She loved her body and still felt beautiful, but only disliked her body when she looked at pictures of herself.
Andrea has an amazing story and passion for what she does for others, her family, and her business. Yes you can find motivation & guidance/help, but what's going to keep you from quitting? What's going to stop you from taking that first step and starting NOW!!
You are going to be the one to do that. You have to be the one to start now! In this episode I cover 5 things you can do TODAY to start NOW! Starting now isn't as crazy as you might think, it's actually very simple and when you do one of these five things you will then open a door to great things to come.

The speed of your metabolism can be moved by genetics, bad lifestyle habits, and a long lasting time of being in a caloric deficit. I don't know if you knew this though but no matter what the case may be, YOU CAN CONTROL THE SPEED OF YOUR METABOLISM if you follow the 4 ways I will mention in this episode. Metabolic adaptation to a caloric deficit is common, and a lot of people are currently doing it right now without even knowing it. Getting a nice lean body is always great, but is that really the main focus? One of my biggest fears is not being in control of my body & health and after years of abuse to my body, I am creating an illness for myself that will damage my life in the next 10 - 15 years. We never know if tomorrow will come, but what we can do is plan for tomorrow to come by dominating today. The longevity purpose to health & fitness is to continue to stay strong, healthy, and functional in your 70s, 80s, even 90s.
You get one shot at making the best out of your health. You get one lifetime to make an impact on your family line, on your friends, business, ect. We are wanting to take the fast routes to a better body but in the long run, what are you learning? This path to optimal health, physique, and performance is a marathon not a sprint. During sprints you get gassed very fast and aren't able to hold that speed for a long time. same with taking these fast routes. You can't hold a deficit forever, You can't hold dehydrating yourself forever. What you can do is take the time to learn about your body, gain power about yourself, and take everyday into your hands!
