Hey Mamas! Welcome back to the so you had a baby podcast Expert Edition! I am your host Krista and this is episode 51! This week I am so excited to be welcoming back Dr. Angela Potter! Dr. Angela joined me in Episode 41 to share her motherhood journey. If you haven't heard it yet, pause this and go listen to that episode first. It's such a great episode! But in that episode, we talked briefly about hormones and how they affect women during pre and postpartum and we decided that the topic of hormones really needed its own episode. So, today we will be talking all about Hormones in motherhood: how they affect you, what they are and how to be your own best advocate for your physical and emotional health during a phase in your life when your body is constantly changing. If you need to, grab a notebook and take some notes, because she is a wealth of knowledge! But don't worry if you can't, just make sure to take a look at the show notes or on my website after the episode. I have provided links to all of her shared resources because I know you're busy, and you're probably multitasking right now! Alright, enough of me, let's jump into the episode!

Hey Mamas! Welcome back to the So You Had A Baby Podcast, I am your host Krista and this is episode 50! First of all, can you believe I am 50 episodes in and have been doing this podcast for almost 2 ½ years?! Honestly, I am so grateful for the opportunity to talk to so many amazing women who inspire me and help me grow! And I am grateful for all of you, my amazing listeners who are along for the ride and support me and take the time to listen! Doing this podcast brings me so much joy! And truly hope you are as empowered in your motherhood journey as I have been!
Ok with that being said, this week's guest is a wonderful woman and friend who I have been so excited to have on!
This week I am joined by Tracey Biebel. Tracey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in Portland, OR. For the past 20 something years, she has been helping individuals, couples, and families find more joy and connection in the lives they are living. She lives with her partner, and their combined 4 kids ages (6, 12, 15, 18), 2 dogs, 4 chickens, and 2 rabbits. Prior to COVID, she often left the house to lift heavy things at the gym, perform improv comedy on various stages about town, go on long unmasked walks with friends, and simply be alone. She is funny, real, and a wealth of knowledge. Her story had me in tears (of laughter and sadness) and is not a story that you hear as often, as she shared both her biological and adoptive postpartum stories. I enjoyed talking with her so much and I know you will as well, so enough of me, let's get into it!Be sure to check out Tracey's website for amazing family and parenting resources!

As we all know breastfeeding is not an easy journey for every mama and truth be told a lot of women struggle in the beginning and sometimes longer. I have to say when I first found out about Rachel’s business Tiny Earth Toys, I was so excited about the concept of what she’s doing, that I realized I had to have her on. As a mom myself, the idea of being able to have toys that are sustainable, educational, and fun for my daughter was so exciting, but even more exciting was the idea that I would be able to send the toys back once they were no longer beneficial for her age group. Rachel and her team are doing incredible things and she is just so interesting and so much fun to talk to you. I’m so excited for you to learn about her incredible business and hear her story!

Hey Mamas! Welcome back to the So You Had A Baby podcast episode. 41. This week I am thrilled to be joined by Dr. Angela Potter. Dr. Potter is a leading holistic doctor supporting mothers in their healing process after birth. After the birth of her first baby, she came face-to-face with the hardships mothers frequently experience after giving birth. She was amazed at how much pressure is put on mothers and how little support is given for whole-body wellness in this very unique time in a woman’s life. From there she developed her Postpartum Wellness Protocol that she uses with mothers nationally.
Dr. Potter has been interviewed for Healthline.com for postpartum-specific articles. She is a nutritionist as well as a doctor. Her office is located in Portland, Oregon where she lives with her husband and two toddlers.
Her passion for serving women throughout pregnancy and postpartum are so evident in our conversation. Not to mention she was a wealth of knowledge and so much fun to talk with. Unfortunately, I know first hand that most mamas, both new and experienced, aren't given the tools we need to thrive in motherhood but I can confidently say that after this episode you will definitely feel more prepared and able to thrive, I know I did! Enjoy and stay tuned!Be sure to follow Dr. Angela Potter on all of her social accounts!

Nikki: Exactly, we understand that it’s a sensitive topic for some but still necessary to talk about. So, in this episode, we break down what we did and what worked and what didn’t work for us around sleep.___

Krista: Hey mamas welcome back to the So You Had a Baby Podcast, episode 38! Today we’re finishing off our body changes series with a very important and underserved topic, the vagina and pelvic floor. There’s so many changes that happen in the woman’s body and for many of us, the most impactful changes that we experience we don’t always talk about, for example, the changes that take place in our pelvic floor and the vagina. So we thought it would be great to have an expert come on and help educate us.
Nikki: Dr. Lisa Jewell is a Chiropractor and soon-to-be mama located in Portland, OR. She holds specialties in Webster, Craniosacral, Pelvic Floor Rehab, Diastasis Recti Rehab, Active Release, and Instrument Assisted Myofascial Release in conjunction with Chiropractic Adjustments, and likes to give her patients the tools to take charge of their own health.

Nkiru: Hi everyone, Welcome back to the So You Had a Baby podcast episode 26! Before we get started with today’s episode, we wanted to share a sweet review from one of our listeners, jordandiane26. She says, “Listening to this podcast has been so helpful for me as I prepare for my journey into motherhood. I have found each episode to be so helpful in offering many perspectives on the postpartum period. I also very much appreciate the focus on positivity and giving yourself grace! I would recommend anyone who is pregnant, wanting to become pregnant, and especially those who already have kids to take a listen!”
Krista: Shoutout to jordandiane26 and thank you for taking the time to review our podcast, If you are listening and like what you hear, drop us a review. And if you want to know when a new episode airs, click the subscribe button. Now, let’s jump into today’s episode. ---
Nkiru: Lauren Woodworth and Chandler Lettin were introduced by a mutual friend in 2015 when they were living parallel lives, both pregnant and in the throes of enormous home remodeling projects. After having their babies and the dust had settled, literally, Lauren and Chandler began seriously discussing what it would take to start a company together. Fast forward three years later in March 2019, the two ladies officially launched AVYN, an athletic nursing bra company. The way they put it is, “Together they are tackling this business venture the way they tackle motherhood- figuring it out as they go, making mistakes, and having fun in the process.”
Krista:We had so much fun talking to Lauren and Chandler today. Their postpartum journeys were so different and they both shared such wonderful perspective and advise that I know all mamas listening will find value in. Also, I personally loved their mom hacks and can't wait for you to hear them! As if that wasn't enough, they created such an amazing product that you definitely need and we know you will love. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did!

---Nkiru: Lauren Woodworth and Chandler Lettin were introduced by a mutual friend in 2015 when they were living parallel lives, both pregnant and in the throes of enormous home remodeling projects.
We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did!---

Nkiru & KristaMon, 18 Mar 2019 - 36min - 9 - Ep. 08 | Growth in Motherhood with Megan Caldwell, Owner of Fit4Mom Cedar Mill
Nikki:Hey guys! Welcome to the So You Had a Baby Podcast, Ep. 08. In today’s episode, we will be interviewing Megan Caldwell. Megan Caldwell is mom to three busy kiddos (Connor 8, Cameron 5.5 and Charley Jeanne age 3.) She is wife to Bo and owns and operates FIT4MOM Cedar Mill in NW & NE Portland, offering pre & post natal fitness classes, as well as community events and support for moms in ALL stages of motherhood. As a collegiate athlete with a background in education, leading FIT4MOM programs and helping moms find strength in motherhood combines three of her biggest passions - educating others, staying active and spending time with her children. When she not busy in her business, Megan enjoys running, coffee dates (or wine dates!) with girlfriends, and spending time outside with her family.
Krista:You guys, we just loved this episode for so many reasons. Megan and Fit4Mom were such a huge blessing in both of our postpartum and it meant so much that we got to hear her story and we cant wait for you to hear it as well.

Nkiru & KristaMon, 04 Mar 2019 - 40min - 7 - Ep. 06 | Self-Care & Self-Confidence with Jennifer Davidson, Owner of Tumble NW
Hey Mamas welcome back to So You Had a Baby! We could not be more excited to introduce today's guest! We are interviewing Jennifer Davidson, the Owner of Tumble NW!
Jennifer Davidson is a native Oregonian and local entrepreneur. She previously worked as a business consultant and has recently opened Tumble, a boutique gymnastics studio for kids in the Northwest area of Portland, OR. Gymnastics has been a lifelong passion of hers, and Portland has been a perfect place to raise her two daughters.
As a mama with two girls under the age of six, finding time to balance it all has been a lifelong journey in learning to accept the present moment for exactly what it is.
Y’all, Jen is amazing! It was so nice speaking with her and hearing her postpartum story. She is such a real and honest person, who has a story that is so relatable and I’m sure many mamas can identify with. There were several moments where Krista and I gasped and laughed, we just really enjoyed speaking with her. We cannot wait for you to hear this episode and hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Also, don't forget to check out our show notes below to learn more about Jen and Tumble NW!

Tue, 12 Feb 2019 - 33min - 4 - Ep. 03 | Breastfeeding: Our Experiences, Tips, & What We Wish We Knew
Hey ladies, Happy Monday & Welcome back!
Today we are discussing a slightly loaded topic - breastfeeding! I say loaded because there is so much to cover and a lot of personal decision that go into it. So, Before we get into the topic of breastfeeding we want to acknowledge that this can be a very controversial topic and the decision to or not to breastfeed is a very personal decision for a woman and her partner to make. There is no right or wrong and we believe only you as the mother knows what is best for you and your baby. Whoever you are and wherever you are, please know that we fully support your decisions. Today, we are sharing our personal experiences around breastfeeding, and as always, we hope that our experiences help someone in their personal journey.
