Can you believe that? This is the first time that we talk about "tea culture" at TeaTime Chinese. 4,000 years ago, Shennong was poisoned whilst he was tasting different herbs. After accidentally eating tea leaves, he recovered from poisoning. From then on, people started drinking tea. In China, "Tu" and "Cha" are interchangeable, and are pronounced differently in different regions. Since the Tang Dynasty, drinking tea has become a daily habit for the Chinese people. Later on, tea went to other Asian countries, before it went to Europe. In Europe, people saw tea as a precious beverage. Today, young Chinese people have a preference for coffee. Tea remains in young people's lives in the form of milk tea.

Sun Wukong (a.k.a. the Monkey King), a monkey with 72 powers, is one of the most important mythological figures. His "Havoc in Heaven" story is known to all. Living peacefully in his earthly paradise, his life is disturbed by the Jade Emperor from Heaven, who attempts to control him by making him work. The Monkey King wants nothing but freedom. In this episode, we keep studying the life of Puyi. At the age of 28, he was already the emperor of Manchukuo. The first thing he did was to travel to Japan to express his gratitude. Manchukuo provided the Japanese army with hundreds of tons of resources all used in wars. In 1945, when the war ended, just when Puyi was about to flee to Japan, he was arrested by Soviet soldiers. Then, he lived 5 years in the Soviet Union, during which he attended the Tokyo Trial. After the civil war in China, Puyi returned, facing 10 years of prison. After that, he became a normal man. On June 18th, 2023, Titan, a submersible manufactured by OceanGate carried 5 people deep into the ocean for a visit to the debris of Titanic. The Emperor of Qin is one of the most important historical figures in Chinese history. The word "China" derives from the dynasty that he built, the Qin Dynasty. We will use 2 episodes to tell the story of Ying Zheng, which is his former name. In today's episode, we will turn our focus on his life before the establishment of the Qin Dynasty. During the Warring States Period, all 7 states were constantly attempting to conquer each other. Ying Zheng became king at the age of 13, launched his military operations when he was 30, eventually eliminating all 6 states within 9 years of time. However, it wasn't always easy unifying the 6 states. "Jing Ke's assassination of the Emperor of Qin" is passed on till this day, which tells the story of a warrior named Jing Ke, and his attempt to kill Ying Zheng.
