On the 22nd of January 2021, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) came into force. It is the first international agreement prohibiting States Parties from the use of nuclear weapons. It crucially illustrates a framework for the elimination of these weapons and provides assistance to the victims of their use and testing.
