Adam Said - Dad loved the Whitsunday Islands and spent the best years of his life working on a beautiful old charter boat called the Elizabeth.E, which was based in Mackay. I wanted to write this song for many years since dad's passing, but it was still too raw and emotional. This song is very personal to me, and I knew Graeme Connors, who is based in Mackay, would be the perfect writing partner to help me capture the emotion I wanted to convey in the song. Graeme is an incredible songwriter, and it was a real pleasure to tell this story with him. I have to say, of all the songs I have written, this one is my favourite." The video was produced by multiple award winner Duncan Toombs from The Filmery. The pair travelled to Mackay and spent several days filming around the township, and on the very same boat, with Les' old work mates. Harvey says "This song documents the important moments in my father’s life, and I knew Duncan Toombs was the right man to capture the emotion I wanted to convey in the video clip. He has done an incredible job painting the perfect picture to go with my lyrics. I still get emotional when I watch the video." With a career spanning over twenty years, half a million album sales, gold and platinum albums, and eight Golden Guitar awards, Adam Harvey is one of Australia’s most popular and enduring recording artists. Harvey was presented with the CMA Global Country Artist Award in 2007 and has been awarded a Centenary Medal for his charity work. Harvey is also an Ambassador for the Fred Hollows Foundation, and the McGrath Foundation. Harvey is currently writing a book titled "Tales from the Road", which is a collection of stories from Adam and his country music mates chronicling some of the funny, inspiring and downright scary things that have happened on tour over the years. Following the outstanding success of his latest album Songs From Highway One, which hit #1 on the ARIA Top 40 Country Albums and #10 on the ARIA Albums (all genres), Harvey spent most of 2021 performing to sell-out crowds across Australia

Fri, 28 May 2021 - 19min - 84 - Josh Oreo - From the Atlas
Josh Oreo is an Adelaide Singer Songwriter , He Joined john on his Radio Show ( 2BACR 90s to Now ) He spoke about his Great New Release From the Atlas ., A great chat and Music - www.joshoreo.com
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At a glance, Josh Oreo is a rejuvenator of 90’s era Brit-rock and of literary merit, he is a rarity apprenticed to England’s Morrissey, and is somewhat a traditionalist; being dedicated to balancing a musical landscape heavy with homogeneous cookie-cutter albums and the ethics behind them, Josh Oreo cites Kristeen Young’s bold artistry, Smoking Popes unflinching vulnerability and Liam Gallagher’s self-assurance as his influences. Having battled and beaten both two brain surgeries and anorexia, the themes of Josh Oreo are survival, despair and indignation. Such themes validating the distorted guitars and indomitable drums. With his eye on assembling the players for some live shows in 2020 /21 and further recording, Josh Oreo is raring to make his mark.

Tue, 27 Apr 2021 - 29min - 82 - Noon Shift - Worth Its cost in time EP chat
Nick Joined John on the Phone to Talk all Thing "Noon Shift" and listen to songs from "Worth its Cost in Time "
Led by singer Nicholas Lowe, joined by William Abbott (Drums), Michael Sramek (Bass) and Thomas Rusin (Guitar), Noon Shift are an emerging band from Sydney’s Western suburbs. Showcasing a raw display of rock and roll, Noon Shift take influence from the likes of Foo Fighters, Gang of Youths and Chris Cornell.
It all started in school when three little year sevens met in junior guitar ensemble. After a little bit of mingling and jamming, Nick, Will and Michael decided it would be fun to start the band that would later become Noon Shift. Over the years the boys spent time jamming out in the garage and even more time skating, playing with sticks and buying kebabs.
In the later years of high school, the boys (having finally decided on the name Noon Shift) recorded their debut EP “Fuse”. With the success of their leading single “Save Me”, which to date has gathered upwards of 160,000 streams, Noon Shift hunkered down in Nick’s bedroom studio to record the rest of the EP. After going through the relaxed motions of recording at home, Noon Shift released Fuse to the world. Since then, they joined forces with local guitarist Tom and have had their recorded music and live performances catch the attention of x-factor winners, VIA Music Group and Harbour Agency.
With the recent release Noon Shift’s second EP ‘Worth Its Cost in Time’ the boys will be embarking on their first ever mini tour of New South Wales, visiting Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra and Newcastle.

Tue, 16 Feb 2021 - 20min - 80 - Mako Brun - Mirror Mirror EP and Something Always
Mako Bron joined John on the Phone to discuss his new single "Something Always and upcoming EP Launch "Mirror Mirror "
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mako Bron doesn’t believe the world can be interpreted in a literal sense and his music weaves its way between supernatural themes, neo-tech philosophy and the churning realities of mental illness, damaged relationships and the frightening state of a warming, unstable world.
Mako has a long history playing, recording and touring with Sydney bands under a different identity.
He’s been compared to Billy Idol, Bloc Party and Digitalism but cites his most significant influences as Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure and The Smiths. With more than a touch of DIY synth-wave style nostalgia, Mako pieces together guitars, synths, beats and occasional live drums to blend the synthetic with organic, the robot with the human and the past with the future.
His catchy melodies subvert the darkness of his lyrics. Drawing from authors such as Haruki Murakami, David Mitchel and Stephen King, Mako touches on narratives of magical realism and fantasy as a vehicle for the human experience. In a world where everything is a story, Mako wonders, do we even exist or are we just part of an elaborate futuristic simulation run by robots?
Tue, 09 Feb 2021 - 07min - 79 - Indigo - WA Band - "Everybody Knows""
Raurke from the Band Indigo Joined me on the Phone to discuss the band and their New Song ""Everybody Knows"
www.facebook.com/indigomusicperth
Beginning life as a duo back in 2012, Indigo have been on a path defined by artistic growth and evolution. This is only set to continue. Having already well-earned a reputation as one of Perth's most promising acts, they are a band on a mission. 2020 has certainly been the most unusual year on record, but Indigo have made the most of it. With Everybody Knows under their belt, the band are looking forward to the New Year with optimism and ambition. It's time to get back to work. Back on stage and back on the road.
“This would be the quickest I've ever written a song,” says singer/guitarist Christopher Kinna of Indigo's latest single, Everybody Knows. Exploring themes of mental health and spirituality, Everybody Knows is as much a social commentary as it is a feel good summer anthem – complete with sweet pop melodies and an irresistible breezy swagger. Lyrically touching on the sentiment that ultimately nobody knows what they are doing, Everybody Knows is playful yet poignant... a song that gives you something to think about, or dance to, in equal measure.
Like all good songs, Everybody Knows seemed to write itself. “It literally came to me within seconds,” Kinna reveals. “It’s basically a satirical statement about looking inward, and how people can have the answer to someone else's problems but not their own,” he says. But the existential heaviness of Everybody Knows is nicely balanced by the lightness of the melodies that surround it. For all its contemplation, it is a carefree, happy song. All up, it is an interesting new addition to the band's growing list of catchy singles, following on from 2019's fan favourite La Luna.
But where La Luna was darker in tone, more melancholic and driven by gloriously '80s-sounding synths, Everybody Knows is decidedly more stripped-back and organic than its retro-futuristic predecessor. It is indie rock at its finest. Every member of the band's skillful personnel is giving it their all. Supporting Kinna's role as frontman is the band's guitarists, Dylan Keirnan and Raurke George. Behind them, bassist David Williams and drummer Joshua Beaumont provide the song's lifeblood: its effortlessly smooth dance floor rhythm.
Tue, 26 Jan 2021 - 10min - 78 - Catherine Britt - "Home Truths" Album - "Me" Single
Catherine Joined John on the show, - We spoke about the New Album Release "home Truths" and the Current singe "Me"
It’s the singer and the song that makes for truly distinctive and enduring artists. Lots of great songs and some mighty fine singing. Catherine Britt has a voice that instantly gets your attention … but unlike others, it is the craftsmanship of this singer/songwriter who unashamedly boasts a worthy story to tell that truly keeps her audience enthralled. Catherine’s new album is entitled Home Truths. They’re the best truths – direct, personal, and from the heart. Just the way Catherine sings. And after 20 years of being a major label artist this album is also a new beginning. This is Catherine’s first release as a completely independent Australia artist. It’s a decision based on Catherine wanting complete control of her career – and having ownership of her own recording masters and copyrights. That’s something that – now as a parent of two young children – she believes is important – and something to pass on to them. This independence was possibly largely due to the loyalty and passion of Catherine’s fans who have been with her on this ongoing journey of music and song. A crowd funding campaign more than exceeded expectations and was a massive statement of the belief Catherine’s fans have in her, her songs and music
Home Truths is significant also in that it was produced by Catherine – and performed by her all dancing, all singing, super talented, and beyond versatile Australian band of smoulderingly good players. It was mixed by Ted Howard and mastered in the USA by Jim DeMain. Also very importantly all the songs on Home Truths were written or co-written by Catherine. That’s the way it is with home truths – they need to come directly from the heart of the person doing the telling. She has lived a life in the world of entertainment most will never experience or dream of. The archetypal Aussie girl from the coal works of Newcastle uprooted herself at 17 years old and moved for six years to Nashville TN (USA) where she gained a deep knowledge of country/roots/folk history as well as touring extensively and releasing top 40 Billboard hits. How did this happen you may well ask. Not every 17-year-old moves from Newcastle to Nashville to pursue their musical dreams. Well, the story is that a certain Elton John (yes, THAT Elton John – not to be mistaken for . . .) heard Catherine during one of his Australian tours in the early 2000s. So impressed with Catherine was Elton that he took her albums back to America with him and helped get a deal with RCA Records. Catherine’s recording career commenced in 1999 when, at the age of 14, she released her first EP followed in 2001 by her debut album release. Since then she has released six more studio albums as well as a Best Of album. Awards? You want awards. Over the course of her career Catherine has collected a host of accolades, a legion of fans and a mantel of awards including the country industry’s highest honours, 2009 CMAA Female Artist of the Year Award, 2012 CMAA Single of the Year, 2013 CMAA Female Artist of the Year Award, 2016 Female Artist of the Year, 2017 Vocal Collaboration of The Year for her celebrated single “F U Cancer”
Tue, 12 Jan 2021 - 12min - 77 - King Canyon - Long Distance - Interview
Jimmy joined John on the Phone to discuss the band and Music , that he writes with James.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Melbourne guitarist James Ryan and singer Jimmy Cupples formed King Canyon in March 2020, just as the world began to shut down.
Ironically, the project would never has existed if not for the crazy events of this year.
With minimal discussion or prompting, the pair trialled an online collaboration and
King Canyon was born.
You might say we're a Rock Band.
We like to think of King Canyon as the soul of the 60's, blended with the Blues Rock invasion of the 70's.
So how did James and Jimmy connect and what was the motivating force to create their new project King Canyon? – Ryan explains; “When the worldwide quarantine kicked in and the live scene came to sudden halt, I decided to use the time to finally pursue a band project I had wanted to do for so long”.
James’ was on the lookout for a vocalist that would complete the sound he had in his head.
Enter Jimmy Cupples; “When Jimmy’s name came up, I thought he could be perfect.
We decided to collaborate on a new song idea to see what would happen. After a few emails and voice messages, the sparks began to fly and the track “Yellow Fever” was born, which became an immediate favourite.
I guess this is what you call chemistry!
James is a well-respected guitarist, who has toured with industry heavyweights Ross Wilson, Russell Morris, Kate Ceberano, Tina Arena and even Men At Work in their heyday.
His guitar-centric YouTube channel "ilovenoise" has over 15k subscribers and more than 6 million views.
Jimmy Cupples is well known for his incredible vocal prowess and effortless stage craft.
He has been an active part of the Melbourne music scene most of his life, following in the footsteps of his cousin Peter, who was the voice behind the popular 70’s Australian band Stylus.
One of his original songs “Sunset Hills” was featured in the Australian movie Rise
“One of the things we are enjoying the most is how easy the process has been and how much fun we are having. We can embrace our influences and instinctively go with the sounds that we love without question."
Tue, 01 Dec 2020 - 15min - 76 - Aaron Jurd - Changed - Interview
Aaron Joined John on the phone to chat his Music and the New Release EP " Changed " -
FROM opening the Tamworth Country Music Festival and being announced for other major festival appearances, to writing with award-winning artists and releasing charting singles to radio, Aaron Jurd has achieved it all in a few short years.
The Lake Macquarie singer-songwriter releases his third single, Changed, on August 2, charting at No. 8 on iTunes, following on from Hard To Breathe, which hit the top 20 of iTunes celebrating all those feelings of new love. His debut single, Set Me On Fire, reached the top 5 of the iTunes Country Song Charts and tells of the emotional struggles that come with reaching the lowest point in your life, but knowing there is a way out, although you haven’t found it yet.
His new single, Changed, on the other hand, is the next chapter from Set Me On Fire, and celebrates the silver lining after the storm.
The talented artist has spent years playing gigs in cover bands and duos, but is now performing his originals with his band, The Banned, and this year, so far, they’ve played the Bluewater Country Music Festival and Off to Country Festival with the Deni Ute Muster.
Aaron graduated from the 2018 CMAA Academy of Country Music in January 2018 and, with his fellow graduates, performed at the Official Opening Concert of the Tamworth Country Music Festival and was selected to perform at the 2018 Golden Guitar Awards with O’Shea. During his time at The Academy, he worked with Amber Lawrence, Fanny Lumsden, Kasey Chambers, and Kevin Bennett. Aaron also co-wrote a song with seven-time Golden Guitar winner Allan Caswell.
“I have spent years writing my own music,” he said.
“But, I’m such a perfectionist that none of my songs were ever heard because I was scared of the reception they would get. Releasing Set Me On Fire and people’s reaction to it, had me in a state of euphoria. I have been listening to talented artists releasing their own material for so long and I need to pinch myself to believe that my song is being played on the same radio stations as the artists I look up to.”
With his strong vocal abilities, 2013 and 2014 saw Aaron named a finalist in Today’s Country 94one Brand New Star Competition. His success in 2014 meant he was selected to join 10 other artists for a song workshop with country music artist Gina Jeffreys where he co-wrote a song with the star.Aaron’s influences weren’t always country music – he grew up in a small town in the Hunter Valley and soon found music to be an avenue to escape family struggles. Although largely influenced by his parents’ taste in popular rock music up until the age of 16, it was when he heard Brad Paisley’s Welcome to the Future, on CMC that his future musical path was set. Aaron realised he had found his niche and wanted to pursue a career in the country music industry. Since then he has broadened his influences to a range of American and Australian country music artists including Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and The McClymonts.
“Since I heard that first song, I have felt drawn to country music,” he said.
“It remains faithful to what music is supposed to be about: the storytelling, emotion, and real-life issues are all expressed and relatable in country music and it captures them in a way that very few other genres can.”
With the release of three consecutive top 20 charting singles, Aaron is making his mark on the Australian country music industry with plans to release more original material to further cement his place in the genre.
Tue, 24 Nov 2020 - 15min - 75 - Thomas - Limerence
Thomas ( Tom Costello ) is a 22 year old Gold Coast Musician, he Joined me on the Phone to discuss his 1st release "limerence". ( Tom has allowed his Music to be left in the Podcast )
Thomas’ story of growing from repressed commerce student to self-determined, self-taught pop prodigy is proof that we’ve all a story to tell or a song to sing. His full length debut Limerence is full of elegantly simple motifs and sonic variety. Limerence tracks Thomas’ journey that started as a frustrated, unmusical commerce student. His desire to break free was catalysed by set of DJ decks, his curiosity in spinning others tracks cracked open into teaching himself music theory and production on Youtube, dropping out of the commerce degree and enrolling into an Audio Engineering degree. Along the way his taste in music expanded significantly, taking cues from The Beatles through to Gorillaz, his eight songs revealing his keen sensibility for composing earnest distillations of youthful desire set to melodies as sweet as Vance Joy and the cross-pollinated power-pop of BROCKHAMPTON. “This album was written in the worst of times, but they were also the best of times” - Thomas Instrument by instrument, experience by experience Thomas’ path to achieving this album was filled with many trials and many errors. His lyrical expression is one of great vulnerability and immediate association, retracing how his determination to be better, to be self-reliant and to connect authentically informed the dismantling of codependence in focus song 2 Be, the breezy gratitude of Good Times, and the self-medicating escapism of 151. His personal life influencing the vital sentiments that makes his songs vibrant and real. ‘Limerence is an easy-listening pop masterpiece. The debut album by Thomas works as a great listen for any mood. Tracks like “good times” and “151” standing out as excellent foundation, creating excitement for what is to come from Thomas.’ - Lewis Main, The Spotlight Podcast. 7 weeks prior to the completion of his audio engineering degree, Thomas was ready, he had developed the personal and creative skills to realise his album. Writing, performing, recording, mixing, and mastering 8 honest songs informed by every good and bad choice made since his lowest point in that commerce lecture. His greatest transaction is now the gift of song.

Gavin Joined John on the Show we spoke about his career and his upcoming Album to released later in 2020 , we heard 3 his songs “Apartmentality” , "Th e Daily Grind" and His latest Single "This Years Modern
Blue Mountains based troubadour Gavin Bowles has made a name for himself over the past decade as an accomplished songwriter and performer - including several national tours, considerable community radio play across the country, a number of residencies and as a singer/guitarist for various artists and projects.
In the last couple of years, Bowles has established an exciting solo career. 2018 saw the release of his debut solo EP "King of Nothing"(described by Haze Mag as "...seamlessly walking into strut-worthy blues guitars.....his lyrics convey the sophistication of a modern day hybrid of Paul Kelly and Elvis Costello”). Following in 2019 was the release of single "Slave", with it’s blend of rockabilly swagger and indie-rock/pop sensibilities. 2020 began with the release of follow up single “The Daily Grind” (with accompanying “messy” film clip); an anecdote for the young, modern ne'er-do-well, bursting with frenetic energy and exhibiting the talents of backing band The Distractions. Mid 2020 saw the release of the Isolation-appropriate single “Apartmentality”; painting a picture of the boredom and frustrations of being stuck in a small space - set to a slinky guitar riff and chilled groove.
Over the past 3 years Gavin has lived in the heart of North Melbourne, Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains – soaking in the atmospheres, sights, smells and sounds of differing urban and suburban living and music scenes. With over a decade of touring and recording under his belt in various groups and solo, Gavin (and backing band “The Distractions”) exhibits a refined live show, toting songs of personal triumphs and tribulations and an idiosyncratic view on modern life, always with a guitar lick and smirk in tow.
Tue, 20 Oct 2020 - 10min - 71 - C J Stranger - Hello Stranger
"C J Stranger "- Cam Joined me in the studio with Guitar in hand to Play Some of his amazing tracks from his Just release Album "Hello Stranger" , Cam Played -Strange One , Outlaw and Fools Gold and we heard the latest Single White Lines .( Cam has allowed the tracks to used in the Podcast ) CJ Stranger hones a unique sound and spirit for his new album, Hey Stranger. Describing first single Strange One as a “stream-of-consciousness ramble of a day living in the inner-west,” CJ carves out contemporary Australian music akin to present day greats like Courtney Barnett, filled with occurrences like electric shocks, technology failing, having a tunnel dug under your house, and tryin' to pay rent. “After a strong coffee,” he notes, “things feel better.” Following on from the galloping country of the triple j spun Outlaw and highly satisfying Fool's Gold, new single and album opener White Lines is yet another brilliant example of how CJ perfectly matches gently simmering music with the raw honesty of reflective coming-of-age lyrics. Channeling an amalgamation of Paul Kelly, Kurt Vile and The Church, White Lines is about new beginnings and unexpected challenges in life, lyrically set against the backdrop of the Australian landscape. Slinging a small-but-powerful arsenal of instruments, CJ Stranger crafts his distinctive sound using an old weathered resonator, a weird vintage organ, and his beloved purple guitar Frankenstein-ed out of discarded bits and pieces. This array of repurposed musical antiques allows CJ Stranger to sculpt a vivid and honest landscape for his musings. These days based in the Blue Mountains while regularly Sydney-side, CJ's 2016 debut album established his prowess as a singer, songwriter and guitar player, but it was a different kind of animal. CJ Stranger is an exaggerated and more nuanced side of Henderson, brought forth by exploring this new artistic persona. A singer-songwriter through and through, CJ Stranger's captivating voice, tell-all lyrics and natural feel for finger-picking walk together in perfect synchrony. Creative and honest, Hey Stranger is a rewarding listen that feels comfortingly familiar, yet new and exciting

Tue, 22 Sep 2020 - 14min - 69 - Dave Power - lost with you / Waiting on life - Interview
Dave joined John as a bonus Artist , we spoke about his new songs ‘Waiting for life’ and ‘lost with you’ http://davepowermusic.com Best known for tender ballads that touch on love, loss and family, Brisbane’s Dave Power has a deep and colourful songbook. His music – typically heartfelt country and blues – looks at the world from every different angle. Incorporating a rich tapestry of elements (not to mention some absolutely killer musicians) Dave’s latest release, Steinman Carrera & the New Suit of Blues, captures him at his barnstorming best – finding the perfect balance between his trademark emotional slow-burners and his burgeoning love for lively bar room blues. Dave’s body of work is an impressive chronology of an ever-evolving artist. His 2009 debut Addiction made grand music out of simple elements; showcasing Dave as a thoughtful and talented songwriter. His 2013 follow-up Looking Life In The Eye was bigger, bolder, yet drenched in the same authentic emotion. Two years later, Dave released the beautiful Handful Of Feathers – steering him in the more polished direction that would eventually lead to Steinman Carrera & the New Suit of Blues, his greatest work to date. Hunkered down in his own Sundown Lounge Studios with renowned guitarist Michael Fix, Dave has thrown his heart and soul into Steinman Carrera & the New Suit of Blues. Led by its emotional first single Close Behind, Steinman Carrera & the New Suit of Blues delivers the goods – showcasing the breathtaking highs and lows Dave can create as a songwriter. From the poignancy of new single I Don’t Care That You’re Gone, to the lighter vibes of I’m Sorry World, Steinman Carrera & the New Suit of Blues wears Dave Power’s mark of sincerity. No less important than the unfeigned numbers though, some songs on Steinman Carrera & the New Suit of Blues exist purely in the name of fun. From the perfect downbeat boogie blues of Sweet Lovin’ to the up-tempo swagger of Feeling The Blues, these are the songs that make you want to dance. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. Through every note he plays and sings, an obvious truth emerges: Dave Power loves music. In the studio or on the stage, he is where he is meant to be. On Steinman Carrera & the New Suit of Blues, Dave shows the true passion and dedication that has been the secret to his longevity as an artist. The peculiar title of the record reflects Dave’s further entrenchment in the blues, which has been a natural progression born of endless hours on the road, jamming and recording. Always one to throw himself into his work, Dave has once again created something truly honest and expressive in Steinman Carrera & the New Suit of Blues.

Tony’s brand of emotive power pop-rock is brilliantly brought to life in this heartfelt genre-defying song that features a dynamic vocal performance and rich and luscious layers of sensory beauty. Yet the track has an irresistible driving rhythm and a stirring edge to it too. With a lyric that reflects a deeply personal moment in Tony’s life, Go expounds on the theme of intense love to create a soaring blend of country-tinged pop. As Tony says of the track:‘Once you realize you are not promised another day, you quickly begin to appreciate the days you are given’. Go is about escapism and commitment and unbridled dedication and a whole lot more. Originally from Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. Tony landed his first job as an On-Air Personality at the age of 15. Working as a student at CIGO, he would soon find the stage with his first band, ‘Kilt.’ From performing at a Raptors game in the Air Canada Center to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, Tony and his ability to connect has allowed him to take the stage in many different settings. Starting out in smoke-filled bars, soon it was festivals, and international tours performing over 200 shows a year. Yes, radio play, music videos, and television appearances would follow, along with 5 East Coast Music Award Nominations, including Entertainer of the Year in 2000. The quick rise would result in a much-needed break from the entertainment industry, and love would bring Tony to Australia, where he is releasing his first solo album, ‘GO.’ Growing up with a wide range of influences might explain his genre-defying approach to music. Grounded in Pop with Country and Rock tinged elements. What stands out is his emotive vocals and the ability he possesses to connect through his songs. Tony has focused on music again, and the results will speak for themselves.

Whilst their original songs have an alt country flavour with rich Cowboy guitar sounds reminiscent of another century the guitar tones also reach into the realms of 60’s surf instrumentals. The Mezcaltones perform a range of songs from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez films as well plus pay homage to some of their favourites such as Waylon Jennins and Los Lobos. To truly understand “what it is” with The Mezcaltones you have to see a live performance. Just before show time there is an atmosphere… a vibration that runs through the audience… an anticipation of something special to come… and it does. The Mezcaltones mount the stage to the thunderous theme from ‘The Magnificent Seven’ and the show begins. And it is a show… slick, edgy, almost dangerous with a talented and well-rehearsed band guiding you through Mimi and Cols antics. Col comes armed with a bag full of one liners and a voice lined with tequila. And Mimi… Mimi is contagious energy, exotic dance moves and a bag of tricks which include percussion, masks, scarves, belts, ribbons and more. Neil Finn) was recorded in NZ at Roundhead Studios a few years prior as part of an experience offered by Medicine Mondiale. Upon returning from that experience and release, Michael finished the Roundhead songs back in Australia working with old pals Gideon & Daniel Frankle who helped shape the track with extra instrumentation, lap steel by Ed Bates, Mixed by Tony Buchen (Courtney Barnett, Tim Finn) and Mastered by Steve Smart ( Vance Joy, Midnight Oil). In the past couple of years Michael had been co-writing with Grammy-award winning artist Frank Myers ( All 4 One, Lonestar, Alabama). This songwriting resulted in an EP recorded at Ocean Way studios in Nashville. Produced by Frank Myers and Jimmy Nichols ( Faith hill, Reba McIntyre) the songs were recorded and mixed by Steve Marcantonio (John Lennon, J. Geils, George Strait, Alabama and recently Thomas Rhett, Taylor Swift and Steven Tyler) The songs became Michael’s new EP ‘Turn This Love Around’. Please Don't Cry re-recorded for the US market with a distinct Nashville tone was the first single released and In September 2018, Burrows released his second single "Turn This Love Around." The single's success carried over to his following single "Brightest Star," which peaked on the same chart at No. 25. Both singles became part of Burrows' debut EP Turn This Love Around, which was released in June. Both Billboard tracks have also received significant radio play within the US in 2019 appearing on shows like 'The Jim Brickman show ( syndicated to 200's of stations), NPR's WLRN ( Folk & Acoustic Music Show) , Voice Of America (measured weekly audience of more than 275.2 million people around the world), Acoustic Cafe ( RDR Radio, LLC) and hundreds of other commercial stations across the AC and AAA radio format. The vibe in the place was just electric, and I spent the night writing the song. I finished the lyric in New York after having breakfast in the West Side Avenue diner Miss America. The waitress in the diner very much inspired the lyric. I hope she forgives my never getting to ask her name. The experience was incredibly powerful." Tue, 16 Jun 2020 - 12min - 53 - Vauus - Boy Interview
Vauus in a solo project of Mark Day , he Joined John as a Bonus Aussie Artist on the show , we talked about his Music and how he produces his Music. Also heard " Deep " and his Latest " Boy" Boy is the new single by the upcoming indie-dance artist Vauus. The song is a youthful anthem celebrating love and the yearning felt by questioning millennials with neon synths, 80s guitars and a bouncing groove that keeps you dancing all the way till the end. The song was recorded and produced by Vauus in his bedroom and mixed and mastered by Malcolm Besley of Northeast Party House giving it that signature punch needed for a dancefloor. Of the song's context, Vauus says "Boy is about a time when I was going out a lot to this Melbourne club, Revolver, and when a girl I was in love with came home from overseas and we shared a crazy weekend together. It's about being young and in love and overthinking everything. It was a time where I was filled with a lot of self doubt, but also a lot of love."Steph Hughes of national broadcaster TripleJ reviewed Vauus' first single Deep by saying, 'Loving/needing this glitzy introspective moment.' Deep is just the beginning of the journey Vauus has planned for 2020 with Boy being the next of many releases to come. Vauus draws inspiration from the late 2000s indie rock Brisbane scene to the pounding deep house/techno clubs of Melbourne. His new brand of self-produced bedroom music was written for those lonely glass-ofwine nights at home and for a ruckus neon drenched dance floor. Vauus "Boy"' At 17, Vauus moved to Melbourne attending the Victorian College of the Arts to study film while playing in a band until he turned 20. After the band broke up, Vauus turned back to his roots, self producing music on Ableton. For the past 5 years, Vauus has put his main focus towards making films, with a short film of his, The Suburbs Go On Forever, a feature film The Age of Imitation and a web series Everything's Going To Be Fine playing at a total of over 23 festivals around the world. Music has always been an important component to film making for Vauus, as he scored most of the music in The Age of Imitation and Everything's Going To Be Fine totalling in over 70 compositions. As a filmmaker, Vauus directed his own video, creating a shimmering neon collage of being young, reckless and in love. With this love of so many genres of music, Vauus started writing what would become a 17 track album, written as the soundtrack for his new television series, Somewhere Else, currently in development. Until then, Boy is the the shining sound of a young man on the rise
Wed, 27 May 2020 - 07min - 52 - The English Rain - My Town Interview
Steve from the band Joined John on the show , to discuss the band and the latest single " My Town" , The English Rain is a Brisbane based band, co-founded by Steve Boom and Neil Steward. Their influences of bands like The Beatles, The Jam and Tom Petty distilled into a sound similar to indie pop bands like The Shins, DMA's and Astral Drive. The goal has always been to try to write songs with strong melodies and hooks and we love jangly guitar driven pop songs The band was named after Steve's favourite Beatles song, and that the rain in England could be both depressing and joyous, which covered the feeling of the songs. During 2019 the pair decided to finally record their forthcoming debut album Echoes of You and start the project with the first single My Town. 'The idea was to invite people we respected and were fans of, to form a collective that could evolve and morph depending on the song' said Steve. For My Town they asked Alister Bell of speedstar to provide vocals, and the results were so good, he is going to handle quite a few songs on the album. Jason Millhouse from the Sean Sennett/ Rob Hirst band plays multiple instruments on the track as well as producing the single and album The first single My Town is both a tribute to the city of Brisbane as well as to the memory of Grant McLennan of The Go-Betweens. Steve said "I was lucky enough to work with, and get to know Grant during my time at EMI, until his sad passing in 2006. I received a call the morning after, and instinctively picked up the guitar and started writing the song. The band will be back in the studio mid year to finish the album. 'We have the luxury of having a catalogue of about 140 songs so the first album track listing is mostly settled. I have had the demos in a playlist of the album for awhile now and originally concerned with the different styles of songs on the record' said Steve. ' My fear was that would going from a jangly pop song into a trip hop song then to a rock song be too much for the people, but ultimately they all sound like The English Rain, so that gives it a consistency. Whilst the debut single is a breezy jangle pop song, The English Rain play a variety of styles including guitar pop, rock, country and electronica.
Wed, 27 May 2020 - 15min - 51 - Max C Bud - Human Things - interview
Max C Bud is a Sydney musician , he joined John on the phone to discuss his new EP " Human Things" . Max C Bud has settled into a songwriting temperament of integrity and open-eyed appreciation, the Sydney-based writer has crafted a body of work that places his thoughtful approach to storytelling amongst gentle country tones and soft rock reveries. This EP, Human Things, has a compassionate embrace of the self and community. Max's first two releases Temptress and Relevance garnered promising reviews via bloggers AAA Backstage and Happy Mag as well as both tracks being added to the mood media playlist. Both tracks can currently be heard in stores such as Myer, Woolworths, Harris Farm, Levi's to name a few. The film clip for Relevance was also aired on MTV's Upload program in June 2019. After the success of his previous releases Max was ready to jump back in the studio. This time working alongside young producer Ben Saler. Their first release working together Straight from the Heart was an early glimpse into the direction of Max C Bud's maturing sound, moving further away from the Indie acoustic pop towards a larger band dynamic reminiscent of the classic folk rock sound made popular by bands such as Australian favourites Paul Kelly, Boy and Bear as well as UK juggernauts Mumford and Sons. Human Things is the debut EP release for Max C Bud. In his own words "It's my most accomplished work to date and one that I truly feel proud of". With a reoccurring theme throughout Human Things explores the realities of living in a world where mental health issues have never been more prevalent than it is today. Lead single Jaded documents that first step in becoming the best version of yourself and facing the challenges that have hindered your personal growth up till now. Sung with an extra sense of angst not yet heard in Max's repertoire, his honest and earnest approach to song writing is once again at the forefront of this powerful and uplifting folk-rock tune. Moody guitars accompanied by a pulsating backline create an energy that is reminiscent of a pop Springsteen vibe. The recording process was an accumulation of numerous weekend recording sessions out of the Viking Lounge in Ultimo Sydney followed by some late night and often emotional vocal takes in the confines of Max's workshop. Mastered by Paul Stefanidis out of The Viking Lounge Mastering. Having taken the songs on the road and trialled them in front of crowds at Tamworth Country Music Festival, Max has found that his song's resonate widely. His stories of struggle and love vibrate intensely with a homeland rock connection and an experienced spirit.
Tue, 19 May 2020 - 17min - 50 - Man City Sirens - Interview
Walter from the Band joined me for. chat and to enjoy some of the bands music, the band has allowed the racks to stay as part of the interview MAN CITY SIRENS are not your typical Australian indie rock!band.! Here's the thing...Man City Sirens, the 4-piece Melbourne indie rock band, is like 90s/2000s Brit rock meets 17th/18th century Italian arias... Question is: how do they bridge that duality? Why 60s lyric pop, of course! Who'd have thought, right? It's a real point of difference. And there's the rub for the mainstream. Where to do with it? We say: "Let 'em listen to it!" It's not folk, electronica, dance, rap, blues, pop, jazz, not rock, soft or hard. My God, it's none of that! That's right... maybe it's just bold, new & fresh. It does its own thing. It's got artistry but not conceit, looking at the ordinary extraordinariness of life, confounded by horrors but celebrating wonders. Like all good art, it embraces the times it's born into, reflecting them and simultaneously rebelling against them with all the sonorous emotionality of a child: the child in everyone. Thus, musically and melodically, it's full of human highs and lows, drawing to it not a specific demographic but audiences of all ages, when they're allowed to attend. Walter has to prima donna sing his stories as if it's all about him; Davide shreds his poor guitar like a gym junkie on steroids, because it is all about him; man mountain Rick would never slap a bass - cruelty does not become him - but still dictates firmly like a director on song/in songs and behind the cinematic camera while Mauro is the sly Casanova of the group who makes love to the skins, keeping rhythm and tempo just right: "Don't overcomplicate it, mate..." The band has released two EPs, in the last three years: "Avalanche of debutantes", 2016/17 and "Exodus of Dreams", 2019/2020, both released through Areasoinca Records, an Italian boutique label based in Bologna. It is currently preparing its first full album. Walter Musolino (vox, guitar, keys) Davide Musolino (vox, guitar, keys) Rick Vaveliuk (bass) Mauro Trentin (drums, percussion, harmonica).

Wed, 29 Apr 2020 - 13min - 46 - Ben Ransom - Night After Night - Interview
Ben Joined John to chat about his Music , Including his latest track " Night After Night" "Powerful vocals and infectious melodies, BEN RANSOM has all the hallmarks of a classic artist and performer" "He is a powerhouse of entertainment with wild stage antics and immensely enjoyable songs that transcend the Country genre...he continuously delivers a smoking hot and energetic live show!" From the back streets of Toongabbie to the world stage, Sydney based Artist Ben Ransom has travelled, toured and performed all over the globe including a two and a half year stint in Europe with a style that is a blend of country, blues and pub-rock. Since 2001, he has worked with and supported top Australian & International recording artists, along with appearances at just about every major music festival around the country! After an upbringing that was littered with as many hard knocks as it was musical staples, Ben first picked up the guitar and started singing at age 15, which proved to be the catalyst for this outstanding Artists' musical journey. From playing in various bands, to holding down three jobs at once to travel and put himself through University, Ben's musical odyssey has been as diverse as it has been defining. Working full time, after completing his Uni degree, became a creatively stifling black hole and with his life slowly spiralling in to suburban oblivion, he packed up and moved to Europe. This proved to be a musical renaissance and, within a couple of short months in the UK, he had secured a residency performing in the heart of London's West end (where it was said constantly, that he brought the spirit of a B&S Ball to the heart of London!). This is where Ben credits himself 'cutting his teeth'. After two and a half years, he returned to Australia with stints between Melbourne and Sydney. He trod the pub circuit, regularly playing five nights a week until a chance meeting with Matt O'Connor (former A&R Warner) which led to him going in to the studio to record some of the songs he had been working on over the years. Ben's first commercial success came in 2010 with the runaway hit 'Bourbon & Sunsets' which preceded his debut album 'SLOW BURN' in 2013 (produced by industry heavyweight Matt Fell). He soon became a radio favourite with songs like 'Truck Stop Honey' and 'Big Country Sky'. The following year, he was picked up by international hit maker Rob EG (Robbie Porter, Wizard Records - Rick Springfield, Air Supply, Daddy Cool, Hush, Tommy Emmanuel) after he was suitably impressed with his live stage show. They joined for a collaboration which was released through Wizard Records and began work on his sophomore album '101', the latter of which was adopted by the start up label 'Country Rocks Records'. During this time, Ben continued to release several singles from a 'live' recording which cemented his name in the country industry. Crowd favourites like 'One More Beer' and 'Dry Town' made him a hit at Festivals and the like. The '101' album was a long time in the making which saw Ben expanding and developing his song writing skills. Incorporating modern influences while honouring his country and rock sensibilities, the recording was also an opportunity to work alongside national icons Sharon O'Neill and the late Phil Emmanuel. The album was a success, receiving national commercial radio airplay and producing a string of hits. Over 2 studio albums and one 'live' recording, Ben has notched up three National #1's and multiple Top 10 charting singles along with a swag of award nominations. This is testament to his broad appeal, talent and down to Earth personality. 2020 will mark the release of his third studio album 'ALL IN ALL'. Recorded between Nashville and Sydney, it features all new self penned songs and finest...

Tue, 17 Mar 2020 - 14min - 41 - Katanak - Astronomy / Life INTERVIEW
Dylan joined join to talk his project Katanak , plus we spoke about 2 released tracks - Astronomy / Life ############################### 'Life' is not always so black and white. The world has grown smaller and it's only natural that people from other countries will come into contact with each other and want to have a life together. This song is about a French girl who is now my fiancée, she happened to stumble into a bar I was playing at one night and then didn't leave. C'est la vie. We all know about the VISA situation, well it's real and it makes life challenging. She's over here with me now and we're about to go through the Visa process soon. This song was written when she was back in France and I was here and we were trying to work out how we could be together. It's about the hoops that you have to jump through to be with someone and it's not just a straight forward 'boy meets girl' scenario. ----------------------------- Astronomy' started out life as a song that was about to get swept under the rug because I couldn't figure out lyrics or a melody. I'd written the music, played all the instruments and produced this song in my home studio. While recording 'Life', my mix engineer Ben McCarthy, was listening to my work, including what is now 'Astronomy'. He instantly forwarded the beds to Keir Nuttall (Australian composer) so that we could collab. Kier was so excited with the song that within 24 hours he had the lyrics and melody completed and we had a finished product.

Michael Burrows Joined John on the Phone , we spoke about Michael as a Musician , and His Music , Including his latest " Please Don't Cry with Neil Finn backing Vocals . when Australian singer, songwriter Michael Burrows saw the opportunity of working with his songwriting hero Neil Finn, he did everything in his power to make it happen. Burrows explains; "A few years ago, after a tip off from a friend, I donated some money to the wonderful charity Medicine Mondiale" Along with its main ambassador Neil Finn, they offered the chance to the biggest donor to record at Neil's world class Roundhead Studios in Auckland New Zealand. "When I received the phone call to inform me I had won, the experience that followed changed my life forever! "I had saved some money especially for my music career, so investing in this opportunity to work with Neil and his charity, seemed like the best step I could make for my music". Burrows soon began to communicate with Finn via email and sent him demos of his songs. Neil instantly connected to a couple of them, especially "Please Don't Cry", which he felt was ready to bring to life. Burrows further comments; "I would have been happy just chatting with Neil about music and the art of songwriting". "But what happened next was beyond my wildest expectations". " Towards the end of the second night, Neil jumped into the vocal booth, and when he laid down the harmonies to my song, I was ready to die right there in that New Zealand chair!" "I remember sitting next to the engineer Jordan Stone, and asked him if Neil does this all the time? He shook is head and mouthed the word 'no'. This was really happening!" Finn arranged for a local band of players to add some colour, including members of New Zealand band Pluto - a band Burrows admired from a way back. Michael and the band immediately gelled together and the songs quickly took shape. "Neil was so generous with his time and advice and was involved with every aspect of the project. Including contributing vocal harmonies, playing the Wurlitzer piano, coming up with arrangement ideas and producing the rhythm tracks" says Burrows. He recalls; "A surreal moment for me was hearing Neil in my headphones, giving directions and doodling along trying new sounds on his guitar while we were tracking. As a producer, Neil was patient and encouraged us to take risks" They tried "Please Don't Cry" in different forms, from punk to Johnny Cash. Neil instinctively kept returning to the slower, late night, almost drunken apologetic feel as the best version. "I knew in my heart that he was completely right. It was also in a place that felt more age appropriate. It was a great lesson in honouring the song and doing what was right for the song" Michael Burrows left New Zealand with two songs that had drums, bass, Wurlitzer, main vocals and harmonies with all the confidence and validation needed to finish the tracks. When Burrows returned to Melbourne, he enlisted old friends Gideon and Daniel Frankle who run Dare Studios in Melbourne and finished the additional production elements including extra key parts, electric guitar and lap steel. Tony Buchen (Tim Finn, Bob Evans) mixed the tracks and Steve Smart from Studios 301 Sydney mastered them to completion. Burrows sat on the tracks for a while as a few other amazing opportunities occurred; including recording an EP in Nashville (which included a re-recording of "Please Don't Cry" for US release) while subsequent promotion and release of this EP spanned a further year. Burrows was always looking for the right time to release the original recording of "Please Don't Cry". " "I have played this track to death over the past couple of years and feel privileged that I have heard an unreleased version of my song featuring my favourite...

Josh from the band Joined John on the Phone , we talked about there current track 'Uilohi" and some of the bands previous releases Little King are a mish-mash of musical genres, unapologetically staying outside the box, this crafty act mould haunting vocals, cheeky riffs, dope rhythms and a collection of effects to create something a little bit interesting. Their tunes are completely accessible but at the same time, for want of a better word, still unique. Based on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Little King members Joshua McGovern & Chris Boaz have played together under various guises for the best part of 9 years and teamed up to create some unique pseudo-pop-electro-soul vibes. With influences that include Chet Faker, Jordan Rakei, Fat Freddy's Drop, and Drake to name a few, Little King combines their hybrid pop-electro-funk-soul sound with clever melodies and catchy hooks creating a cocktail of musical tastiness. Their foray into the live music scene started in 2015, having been successful in an original song competition, they were selected support Donavon Frankenreiter on one of his east coast shows prior to his appearance at the Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival. Their debut self-titled EP was produced by Alex Gooden, who has previously worked with Evermore, Bluejuice and Megan Washington, at Myrtle Street Studios in Sydney, and released in June on the North Coast, followed by a brief East Coast tour and a two week tour of New Zealand's South Island, where their music was extremely well received. Between the back-and-forth of touring the East Coast, promoting their EP, of which they are receiving airplay all over the country, surfing and skating, Little King continue to spend their days tucked away in the Hinterland of the Coffs Coast, writing, rehearsing and performing.

Wed, 15 Jan 2020 - 07min - 30 - Mr Blue - Fever/Mr Blue and still love you Interview
Rob from the Band Joined John, to discuss the band and music. - Fever , Mr Blue and still love you - on all Digital services Allison Mark - lead vocals, piano, backing vocals LJ 'Pope' Poposki - bass Rob Jaworski - guitar The truth is, nobody really knows who Mr Blue is. No one has ever seen him, not even us. He rings us, out of the (yes you guessed it) - blue - to give us instructions about our next gig. "You're playing at such and such, on such and such day. Tune up and don't be late!" Raspy voice, impatient tone. In fact, he sounds like a bit of an ars... well, you get the drift. Sometimes he sends a new song he's written. Or tells us to play somebody else's song. "But make it sound good!" he often writes in his cryptic emails. When it's time to pay us, he leaves the hotel room before we get there. All we ever find is his dark blue hat hanging on a chair, a lit cigar, half-full (or half-empty?) glass of whisky and a silver money clip. Always the same amount. Always 13 dollars. We keep asking him, but he never answers the question "Why"? Every now and then we meet someone, who claims they've met Mr Blue. But no one has ever proven it, no photos or videos, just rumors and hear-say. We're keen to find out who our mysterious boss is. Can you help? Have you seen or heard Mr Blue? If you have, please let us know. The Band.
Tue, 07 Jan 2020 - 09min - 29 - Clear - Always / Somnium - Interview
Clear ( Cassie Lear) Joined John on the Phone to chat about her singles from 2019 - Always / Somnium . Always is the new expansive single by CLEAR, a soaring romantic ballad with sweeping synths and an emotional depth portraying a sudden yet certain steadfastness in love. The track celebrates the journey of coming to terms with finding and forming a deep romantic connection strong enough to become endgame for two people in love. CLEAR is carving a place for herself on the Fraser Coast performing at her local in Hervey Bay. In early 2019 she debuted on Triple J Unearthed with the simple and stripped back For You, releasing Somnium next in mid July, which gained radio attention on Australian major independent stations s well as overseas on Belter Radio in the UK and internationally syndicated radio show Lopsided World Of L. Somnium also spent a combined total of fifty five days in Spotify's editorial playlists Pop Right Now and Chilled Pop Hits. Always is a song of realisation; an acknowledgement of a love that is the real deal and a relationship that has proven itself to be, spoken or unspoken, the inner romantic's dream come true. It exudes a sense of fulfilment and contentment; a bond forged between lovers in a world of fleeting romance and collective fears of abandonment, that speaks about a mutual decision to be vulnerable and to commit to a life shared with another who truly does have your best interests at heart. The track was self recorded by CLEAR in early July of this year. 'Always was one of those songs that happen on their own... it took 10 minutes at most to have all the lyrics down and know how the composition was going to be... which ultimately wasn't too surprising, when the subject matter is about a love that came suddenly and quickly and fell into place with ease. Essentially the story of how the song came about matches the song's subject matter, which I don't believe is much of a coincidence.' - CLEAR Influenced by a variety of differing genres, CLEAR lists artists such as French electronic band M83, renowned Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi, and San Diego rock band Switchfoot as recurring sources of inspiration. She values depth and the freedom found in variation and applies both liberally to her music, nevertheless keeping emotionally authentic undertones throughout each track. It is within these contexts that Always breathes deeply in the minimalist chic and open space, all-embracing of the sentiment. Proving again that CLEAR's sensibilities position her strongly at the forefront of Pop.

Tue, 12 Nov 2019 - 04min - 26 - anseo - Wilder Shades EP - Interview
Luke from the band anseo , Joined John for a chat on his newly released EP Wilder Shades Carrying the tradition of the pioneers of popular song, anseo continue to push out from the shadows of the cover gig circuit with their evocative second EP, lead single Deadbeat is an intimate and sensual invitation. Combining a love of moody synths and airy harmonies with an understated groove, Deadbeat is, above all, an expression of our desire to truly know the people we love. We can give them warmth and compassion, but not always empathy. With the earthy approachability of Matt Corby and the ascendent charm of D'Angelo, singer and songwriter Luke James Smith's falsetto imparts the respect and trust needed on a fleeting trip through the inner workings of someone's mind. The EP as whole, with the intoxicating flow of Afterglow and the stripped back Stay, is seductive for it's blend of indie-rock vitality with R'n'B sensibilities. Deadbeat, along with the rest of the 4-track EP, was recorded at Forbes Street Studios in Sydney with engineer Dan Frizza, who has worked with the likes of King Princess, Amy Shark and Bernard Fanning. In Irish, anseo translates as here, or present. It was chosen as a reminder not to always look pensively ahead at the unknown, to live for the moment, to never forget that creating music is more about loving the ride than reaching the destination. As a solo musician, Luke James Smith had been writing, recording and performing acoustic gigs for several years. Beginning in pubs and clubs around Sydney, then eventually at venues all throughout the East coast of Australia, he was working on material and honing his craft in front of live audiences. Then in 2018, Luke brought together a live band to record anseo's debut single Save Me, Katie, which was released on Spotify and iTunes, with a 5-track EP Delusions of Grandeur coming soon after. Much like the those before him who gigged heavily before working on their original compositions, this follow up EP Wilder Shades, is strengthened by Luke's extensive experience as a performer. These four songs that explore the intrinsic value of love and loss, is due to be released on 25th October 2019. The 'Wilder Shades' EP by anseo is out now. Tracklist: 1. Deadbeat 2. 3 Wicked Years 3. Stay 4. Afterglow

TAMMA has been addicted to soul music since an early age, growing up with classics such as Etta James, Nina Simone, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Dire Straits. She's inspired by the musicians who pave their own way in the industry and make things happen for themselves, preferring to stick to being an independent artist with the freedom to experiment and explore new sounds and ideas. TAMMA has spent many years after vocal surgery, writing, learning piano, gigging and finding her confidence again, the determination and fire in her belly never left. She released her debut single 'Beat You Down' in October 2018 a song for her family after the loss of her nephew. She was overwhelmed with the response and how deeply it connected with people. TAMMA is currently writing her first ever EP and is set to complete the recording of it in October this year. Combining contemporary pop and electronic elements and the timbres of traditional and contemporary soul music TAMMA uses her voice at the center of these arrangements: lyrically and thematically communicating resilience, hustle and drive, as my songs explore the strength it takes to push through adversity and come out on top.
