TAP is a Navy veteran, who has accomplished many great feats of strength and conditioning not only of himself but of some Major League friends of his. Pretty much he makes people awesome. He now works at Fort Johnson and tries to make US Army Soldiers as awesome as US Navy Sailors. He's finding it challenging.

T.I. is still active duty, serving as the voice of History and Heritage Command. Or, it might be all print work, not sure. At any rate, he's getting old and would like to retire soon. But, the O4 paycheck keeps showing up so he keeps showing up for muster.

Josh is once again joined by his wife Nikki and long time friends Virginia and Gary. Virginia being a friend of 18 years, since Josh's High School days. Alex Puskarich a long time friend of the show. He served one tour in the early 2000s and left after completing his initial enlistment. Having always looked at the military as a job and stepping stone to more, he executed a very fruitful transition into being a civilian. Through sacrifice and blazing his own path, today he's a successful dad and strength and conditioning coach for a private facility in Las Vegas.

Recent shop talk about who has a bigger influence on crew morale led to a heavy bias of junior Sailors putting all their eggs in the CO basket. Even more so, was the underlying question of, "What's the point of the CMC and what is the MCPON even there for?" Josh pulls up an article from 5 years ago celebrating the 50th anniversary of the MCPON office, and breaks down some of the feelings highlighted in it. He the addresses how some of those feelings trickle down and leave that sour taste in Sailors mouths as to why the CMC position even exists.

Benny Juarez is old school. Joined in 1988 he was raised by a generation of old school Navy not known to many today. From Corpsman drop, to busted down boatswain mate, SWCC Boat guy, to BM2 then wrapping up a stellar career as NC1, there are few stones left to be turned over by him.

In this episode we ask the question about about how the sayings "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" and how that's similar good or bad to "what happens in the mess, stays in the mess." It's the duty of parents to keep their families safe. There comes a time when the double standard of treating our son different than our daughters peeks their head into the discussion. When organizations (Military) ask employee's (Troops) to talk about diversity (in uniform) you generally get some watered down, measured for safety responses. This wasn't that place or setting. Career long friend T.I. joins us in the studio! A Naval Aviator, no longer flying and now putting out press releases, or something like that. We sit down to talk about his hellish PCS move that has lasted almost 6months. 

Eddie is a 15yr Petty Officer First Class, who's been up for Chief 5 times. This is the first year actually being board eligible. Through adversity, both provided through the Navy and his own decisions, he's still trying to make the best of the cards he's been dealt. Will this be the year that he puts the past behind, and steps through the door? 

Mike visits us in the studio asking some questions and sharing with myself and brother-in-law Jerome, about the upcoming CPO Season and how he's feeling going into these final couple weeks before results come out. For those that don't know or unaware, U.S. Navy Chiefs are selected once a year by a board of Master Chiefs (E9) and high ranking Officers through a highly competitive and "secretive" board. Members sitting the board are not known until after the results are released. Being selected to Chief Petty Officer can be considered the culmination on ones enlisted career. Stay tuned for more about the CPO season as trying begins in the next week. 

In this episode I sit down with a U.S. Navy Commander (O5) and get his perspective on things happening in and around the Navy. What path he took in joining the military, how the global war on terrorism shaped and molded him into the officer he is now. We talked about the responsibility of being a Captain of a ship. Why Capt Crozier and LtCol Scheller were wrong in there actions, and how they are polar opposites. Nikki sits down in the studio to share her side of the story about switching college majors, and eventually how it led her to joining the Navy. A saying that is permeated throughout the CPO initiation season, "Once A Chief, Always A Chief"....though when asked, many would give a varying degree of what that means. Partly because it means something different to each Chief, and maybe no one truly knows? The most familiar would be the Chiefs that decide to turn in their Anchors for Bars, and join the Wardroom as Limited Duty Officers. In this episode I have two friends, both former Chiefs, who made that choice. We talk about what what it means to them when they hear, "Once A Chief, Always A Chief". 

Nick joins me in the studio to discuss how parents approach raising children through sports. Specifically we talk AAU basketball. What he's experienced through his time coaching his son, and things he sees as a spectator in the crowd watching other teams and families. How the game is played, and how he's approaching it. The pressure parents feel or apply to their kids. Then we dive into the parallels of "the struggle" we teach kids to overcome through sports, compared to the struggle of raising Sailors in the Navy. 

Leadership, is one of my least favorite topics to talk about, because I am not an expert and dislike being thought as such. There are many flaws within the military and it's building of leaders, the expectations of leaders, and what senior "leaders" feel they need to do to connect or be successful with the next generation. Let's explore some of these thoughts. 

I sit down with my wife Nikki and her older brother Jerome to talk about what it was like for them growing up as military children while their dad served in the Navy. We talk about valued lessons, fond memories and the trials and tribulations of a their childhood. Then how they now as serving parents are trying to make our children's lives better.
