Here, we look at some of the Nigerian languages and the type of language they speak. In this episode the greeting style of the languages were discussed. More episodes will have a broader perspective.

This episode is purely a self explanatory one as it enlightens the Igbo people on the need to know their leaders. With this lecture, the thrust of the instructor in getting the people informed is achieved.

Subject Object Switching (SOS): This is a concept developed and initiated by the late Prof. Angela Uwalaka, DDL. This seems to be passivisation which goes with only experiential and process verbs. Scholars over the years have tried to support or refute the precense of the phenomenon in Igbo language.

Cliticization as a concept in the Igbo Language explains how some words are dependent on their neighbiurs as bound morphemes. Clitics can also be said to be the smallest meaningful grammatical elements just as affixes. The functions and different types of clitics are also discussed.

Tone in Igbo describes the different types of tone and a basic knowledge to understanding how tone as a feature of African Languages function. A step further was made to talk about the functions of tone too. The lecture was given by an astute academic, Ebele Uba (Ph.D) who specialises on Phonology.

As the name implies, this episode talks about the divison of the consonants of the Igbo Language into two groups based on voicing. Illustrations were also drawn from Maduka Durunze (1996).

This episode is based on vowel harmony which describes the division of the Igbo vowels into two; using the advancement of the tongue root feature out of the four phonetic qualities for division of these vowels. Illustrations were also outlined using simple words. Also, the issue of /a/ as an opaque vowel was discussed and a further research by Nwaozuzu (2005) was highlighted as she proposed root control and the extension of vowel harmony to complex words.

This episode on the Igbo alphabets is structured and designed for a better understanding of the Igbo Language by the Second Language (L2) Learners. After going through, it will be observed that there are peculiarities in the alphabet system. Edith Nwubu who is an Igbo Language enthusiast and an academic delivered the Lecture.

This episode describes the Igbo People with regards to their history of descent, political leadership, occupational history and religious leadership. Simply put, this episode tries to look at ndi Igbo in the wider space. There are cases of codeswitching for a better understanding. The guest speaker for this episode is Dr. Adaobi Okoye, a Senior Lecturer of the Linguistics Department at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
