Tue, 29 Oct 2024 - 34min - 3834 - Latest Miami Dolphins Loss A Perfect Microcosm Of Lost 2024 Season
Tua Tagovailoa returned and with him came a slew of bad habits from this team's early start to the season (and years past). The Dolphins moved the ball at will at times but suffered from self-inflicted errors that ultimately snowballed and came to a head amid an awful second-half performance from the defense. Miami falls to 2-5 on the season thanks to a walk-off field goal by Arizona, leaving this season dead in the water. Where do things go from here, besides down?
Sun, 27 Oct 2024 - 24min - 3833 - Locked On Dolphins POSTCAST: Tua Back, Dolphins Blow Late Lead to Arizona Cardinals to Fall to 2-5
Kyler Murray drove the Arizona Cardinals 71 yards on 13 plays to set up a game-winning field goal by Chad Ryland as time expired, spoiling the return of Tua Tagovailoa in a gut-wrenching 28-27 loss that dropped the Dolphins to 2-5. Tagovailoa looked good in his anxiously-awaited return from a concussion, completing 28 of 38 passes for 234 yards and leading the offense to its highest-scoring output of the season. Tagovailoa lost a fumble on the opening drive that Miami recovered, and a snap went over his head in the third quarter, resulting in a safety that led to eight unanswered points for the Cardinals that brought them right back into the game. The Dolphins fumbled four times, losing somehow losing none. Other key mistakes by Miami- including a big drop by Jaylen Waddle- allowed Arizona (4-4) to stick around and eventually get the win. Ryland’s game-winning kick at the gun was his second in a row, and it came after Murray led two scoring drives in the fourth quarter to rally the Cardinals from a nine-point deficit. Tia was designated to return on Monday after doctors cleared him to play. He also cleared the concussion protocol Friday. Miami’s opening drive ended in a 1-yard touchdown run by Raheem Mostert, who also grabbed a 6-yard TD run in the fourth. Tyreek Hill caught six passes for 72 yards in his first game with at least 70 yards receiving since Week 1. De’Von Achane rushed for 97 yards on just ten carries and added 50 yards and a receiving touchdown. Murray completed 26 of 36 passes for 307 yards, with a 6-yard touchdown to Michael Wilson and a 22-yard TD to Marvin Harrison Jr., who caught six passes for 111 yards. Trey McBride added 124 yards on nine receptions for the Cardinals. The Dolphins led 13-7 at halftime but their top-ranked pass defense could not stop Murray and Harrison in the second half. Their run defense was great for the most part, shutting down Conner and an AZ rushing attack that had been averaging 5.5 yards per carry to 2.8 ypc.

Mon, 21 Oct 2024 - 29min - 3824 - Locked On Dolphins POSTCAST: Huntley Hurt, Dolphins Shut Out in 2nd Half in 16-10 Loss to Colts LIVE
The Miami Dolphins came off their bye week feeling great about the changes they had made heading into today’s game against the Colts at Indianapolis. For the first 29:44 of the first half, things were looking real good. Then it all fell apart in a devastating 16-10 loss that dropped them to 2-4, and they lost another QB to injury. Coming off their bye week and their 1st win since opening day, the Dolphins looked good early, with Tyler Huntley leading the offense on two scoring drives, including a 10-yard TD pass to Tight End Jonnu Smith. The Dolphins defense dominated the first half until the final :16, when a breakdown in the secondary gave Michael Pittman Jr a 33-yard gift to set up Matt Gay’s 52-yard field goal as time expired to make it 10-3. Then things got a lot worse for Miami. Raheem Mostert (11 car, 50 yds) fumbled the ball on the opening drive of the 2nd half, giving the Colts the ball at the Miami 46. With star RB Jonathan Taylor still out, Tyler Goodson (14 car, 51 yds) scored his first NFL TD from seven yards out to tie the game at ten. On the Dolphins next drive, Huntley suffered a shoulder injury. Enter Tim Boyle, the 4th QB to play for the ‘Phjns this season. On Boyle’s first drive, FB Alec Ingold fumbled, giving the Colts the ball again. Miami’s D forced a punt, and on the Colts’ next drive, they stopped the Colts inside the five yard-line, forcing Gay’s 22-yard FG that gave them their 1st lead. The Dolphins offense drove down the field before Ingold was stuffed on 3rd & 1. Sanders missed from 54 yards, and the Colts kept the lead. On the Colts’ next drive, Gay’s third field goal of the game- from 38 yards out- made it 16-10. Boyle led the Dolphins on a 9-play drive before turning the ball over on downs with under a minute left to end the game. Huntley finished 7-13 for 87 yards and a TD. Boyle was 8-13 for 74 yards. Devon A’Chane ran for 77 yards on 15 carries, for Miami. They ran for 188 yards on the day. Smith led Miami with nine catches for 76 yards and the touchdown. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle were held to one catch each, and just 24 total yards, as Miami continues to struggle getting the ball into the hands of their playmakers. Richardson- back after missing two-plus games with a hip injury- went 10-24 for 129 yards and no TD’s. The Dolphins D held the Colts (4-3) to 284 total yards and one TD, but they couldn’t keep them off the scoreboard late. The Dolphins (2-4) are hoping that QB1 Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) will return to practice this week, and play next Sunday at home against the Arizona Cardinals.

Mon, 7 Oct 2024 - 30min - 3803 - Locked On Dolphins POSTCAST: Dolphins Pull Out Tough 15-10 Win On The Road At New England
Alec Ingold scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 3-yard run with 4:00 left, and Jason Sanders kicked three field goals to make up for three botched kicks by Miami's special teams on Sunday as Miami beat the New England Patriots 15-10 in a key division matchup. New England (1-4) still had two more chances to take the lead after the Dolphins' missed on the 2-point attempt, but the first ended after a replay review overturned a catch that had been ruled a touchdown, and the second died at the Miami 11 when Jacoby Brisset hit Hunter Henry for 25 yards with 4 seconds left- in the middle of the field, with no opportunity to stop the clock. The Dolphins scored the final 13 points of the game, while their defense stopped the Patriots offense on every 2nd-half drive after a field goal to open the 3rd quarter. Making his second start replacing Tua Tagovailoa, Tyler Huntley completed 18 of 31 passes for 194 yards and an interception. Tyreek Hill caught six passes for 69 yards, and Jaylen Wright ran for 86 and Raheem Mostert added 80 on the ground for the Dolphins, 2-3. Miami had lost three in a row while shuffling through three backup quarterbacks since Tagovailoa sustained his third diagnosed concussion in Week 3. The Patriots celebrated a go-ahead touchdown pass with 63 seconds left, but replays showed Ja’Lynn Polk’s second heel came down on the end line. Sanders’ 54-yard field goal on Miami’s first drive gave the Dolphins, whose only other win came on a Week 1 kick with no time left, its first lead of the season. But when Sanders went back out at the end of the first quarter for a 41-yard attempt, he doinked it off the left upright. The Dolphins also botched another field goal attempt when long-snapper Blake Ferguson rolled the ball to the holder and Sanders didn’t even get a chance to swing his leg. Miami also had a blocked punt, setting up the Patriots at the Dolphins’ 23. But after a drive that included two offensive holding penalties and just five plays, Joey Slye pulled a 33-yard field goal attempt wide right. Dolphins Running back De’Von Achane left with a concussion in the first half and did not return. Safety Jevon Holland left the game with a hand injury and did not return. WR Odell Beckham Jr. was active for the first time this season and was targeted twice, but did not have a catch.

Tony Pollard had a 4-yard touchdown run to go with 88 yards on 22 carries. Huntley brought the Dolphins (1-3) within 10 when he scored on a 1-yard run with 3:40 left. He was intercepted on the two-point conversion attempt, and the Titans recovered the ensuing onside kick. Huntley was called for intentional grounding in the end zone on Miami's last effort at a comeback, adding two more points for the Titans. Tyreek Hill was held under 50 yards receiving for the third straight game with 23 yards on four catches. Linebacker Emmanuel Ogbah intercepted Levis and secured the ball between his knees to end a promising opening drive for the Titans. The Dolphins gave it right back when Huntley threw a backward pass to Hill that went off his finger tips, on a play that was overturned to a fumble that Tennessee recovered. That was the first takeaway of the season for the Titans, who entered the game with a minus-7 turnover differential. Miami has not led a game this season. Their only win came in the opener on a walk-off field goal by Jason Sanders. Sanders made kicks of 44 and 56 yards tonight. Dolphins RB Jeff Wilson Jr. injured his knee in pregame warmups and did not play. LB Jaelan Phillips left in the third quarter with a knee injury and did not return.

Sun, 8 Sep 2024 - 26min - 3770 - Locked On Dolphins POSTCAST: Tyreek scores 80-yard TD, 'Phins Beat Jags 20-17 on GW FG to Win Opener
Tyreek Hill in the lineup, scores 80-yard TD after pre-game incident with police. Tua Tagovailoa + Miami's big-play offense got off to a very slow start, but got going (just enough) in the second half. Miami ran for just 83 yards, and was held to three field goal attempts in the 4th quarter. Jason Sanders kicked a 52-yard field goal as time expired- his second made kick of the fourth quarter after a costly miss. Sanders had missed a game-tying attempt earlier in the fourth. He is 8-8 on game-winning kicks in his career. Tua- who looked out of sync with his plethora of weapons early and even sometimes late in the game- ended up going 23-37 for 338 yards and the 80-yard bomb to Hill. Hill led Miami with seven catches for 130 yards and the score. Jaylen Waddle added five for 109, and also drew an important pass interference penalty later in the game. Tight ends Jonnu Smith and Julian Hill each caught one pass. De'Von Achane caught seven balls for 76 yards, and ran for 25 yards and a touchdown. Raheem Mostert added six carries for nine yards and two catches for ten yards. Jags offense looking sharp early, with Lawrence and the Jags moving the ball at will against Miami, scoring TD's on two of their first four drives. The Dolphins defense played fantastic after halftime, holding the Jags scoreless while limiting their run yardage and putting big pressure on Trevor Lawrence and forcing the Jags off the field on every possession in the second half.
