The injury bug has bitten DE Marcus Davenport again. The Lions edge rusher had a very solid game on Sunday but now is Doubtful for this week vs Tampa Bay due to a groin injury. This was the concern with Marcus, who missed 13 games last season. Can Josh Paschal step up in his absence and does this mean playing time for James Houston? Also- a big injury for the Bucs O Line as well as in their secondary. We also make our prediction and a tacky story coming out of the LCA.

The Lions needed overtime to upend the LA Rams at Ford Field tonight 26-20. David Montgomery with the walk-off One yard TD run. Lions struggled at times in this game and needed a Jake Bates 32 yard FG to send the game to Overtime. Lions won the toss and marched down the field to end it. Jameson Williams with a career high 121 receiving yards and a TD. Give the defense credit, they bent, but did not break. We hand out our game balls and more.

There is nothing more scary than seeing Penei Sewell in pain on the ground. That took place today in Allen Park as the Pro Bowl RT injured his left foot. The lions said it was a foot injury and he is being evaluated as we speak. Sewell was able to walk off the field with a limp and did not need a cart. We discuss that. Some major news out of Allen Park today as the Lions waive/injured Antoine Green. The wideout was trying to step up and become the team's 4th WR but now he is gone. Green suffered a neck injury and concussion the other night and now if he returns he would have to be on IR. The team also has added QB Jake Fromm. We discuss that and more. We recap last night's 14-3 loss again to the Giants. Backup QB remains a concern. PFF grades are out and there were some scores that made no sense.. at all. Also, a backup O Lineman is done for the year and a wild prediction about the NFC North.

It was not a great night for the Lions. They fall to the New York Giants 14-3 in Preseason Game #1. Lions offense could not get going under Nate Sudfeld, who started at QB. Hendon Hooker did better, but the offense only managed a Jake Bates 53 yard FG. Defense did alright and there were some positives.

There will be a fresh Kicking competition with the Detroit Lions come tomorrow. Michael Badgley's season is over due to a torn hamstring, so that means Jake Bates has the job for right now. Lions will be working out other kickers and signing someone shortly. Badgley goes on IR and he is out for the season. Bates was a cult hero for the UFL's Michigan Panthers. Also, Day 3 camp observations. An ode to Jerry Jacobs. And a bold prediction that might not be so bold.

It has already started at Training Camp. The Lions working in Jahmyr Gibbs at wide receiver a little bit. The kid showed flashes last year of stardom and now OC Ben Johnson has him running routes and working with the WR group in drills. The Detroit Lions have renamed 222 Rod Wood Drive's facility, the Meijer Performance Center as the grocery chain has purchased the naming rights. Bates, who is known for hitting 60 yarders with ease at Ford Field, will compete with Mike Badgley and James Turner for the kicking job. It is a job that is in flux every year for the Lions it seems. Bates was All-UFL after making 17 field goals during the season for the Panthers. In addition, should the Lions entertain bringing back Adrian Martinez? It was an awesome sight today to see Lions HC Dan Campbell back on the sidelines at Organized Team Activities. Campbell missed Rookie Minicamp for personal reasons and the Lions got him back today. Aidan Hutchinson, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs all make the list as well. The funny thing is: Not a single NFC North player outside of Detroit is on it. What a job by the Lions to get this contract done and completed. Detroit has now spent 444 million dollars on 3 of their own free agents this offseason: Goff, Sewell, and St. Brown.
