Cory Phillips definitely has something to prove. The now Lawrence, Kansas-based singer/songwriter and his group, the Band of Light, are currently delivering his second studio album, SEXTHIRSTYLOVEHUNGER, released end of May 2021. The entire collection is brimming with summer party gold. It’s been over 10 fast years since he released anything larger than a single, and this long-awaited follow up to Phillips’ self-titled 2009 debut is meant to make up for lost time. Phillips and his bands have played coast to coast for a decade, amassing fans drawn to his erotic singing and bedroom funk. Yet only the time that Covid-sequestering afforded him allowed for the definitive recording of his decade’s better work. The new album is an effort in innovation. In the midst of the health crisis, new freedoms and limitations developed for the musician with a secret life pursuing his PhD in climatology at the University of Kansas. Gigs cancelled, tours off, Phillips converted part of his house into a recording studio and brought in his Lawrence/Kansas City-based ‘Band of Light’ along with wizard engineer Robert Rebeck (Tech N9ne) to complete the 14-song hitlist of retro-tinged solid gold.

Her music follows the touchstones of Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, and Dolly Parton. Rosy delivers hymns, ballads, and folk melodies with a mesmerizing rawness that sweeps up her audiences. Landing a performance at the renowned Stagecoach Festival in 2020 solidifies her legitimate place in Country Folk music but it did not happen overnight. In addition, Nolan is a veteran of touring nationally and internationally grabbing new fans from quite different landscapes like London, New York, and Northern California. 14 Apr 2021 04:0 - 55min - 650 - Chad Ferrin
Born in a small Minnesota town straight out of a David Lynch film, Chad Ferrin spent his formative years on a farm. The brutal winters, social isolation and exposure to violent animal slaughters influenced the predatory and survivalist themes he would later explore cinematically. In 1988, Ferrin sold his home in Minnesota to finance his first film, UNSPEAKABLE. Lloyd Kaufman, president of notorious genre production house Troma Entertainment, took a personal interest and distributed the film. After a multi-year relationship producing, writing and directing for Troma, Ferrin sold his 1968 1/2 Ford Mustang to finance his independent hit, THE GHOULS. Called “Haskell Wexler’s MEDIUM COOL revisited”, hailed by Variety and a winner of numerous international festival awards, THE GHOULS was an underground commercial and critical success. Ferrin immediately followed up with EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL!, a film teeming with dark humor and social commentary in the vein of Russ Meyer and Dario Argento. In 2009, SOMEONE’S KNOCKING AT THE DOOR took the festival circuit by storm with tried-and-true psychedelic grind-house style. In 2015 Ferrin was hired to bring the acclaimed graphic novel THE CHAIR to the screen. The success of that collaboration with producer Robert Rhine was followed up on the Fantasia Festival hit PARASITES and the gonzo, horror comedy EXORCISM AT 60,000 FEET. His latest feature "The Deep Ones" will be opening on April 23rd at the Laemmle NOHO 7. Watch the trailer here: vimeo.com/519644453

Classically trained in voice from the age of 5, Nikhil Korula first lent his dulcet tones to sing with the likes of opera giants such as Placido Domingo, pop stars, Barry Manilow and the late Luther Vandross. As a boy soprano, Korula performed at Carnegie Hall by the age of 10 and also sang for one of Danny Elfman’s first film scores. In 1990, Nikhil Korula performed at the 32nd Annual Grammy® Awards with Mike and the Mechanics, sharing the stage on that fateful night with legends, Ray Charles, Miles Davis & Don Henley. However, after graduating from the USC Thornton School of Music with a Bachelor’s Degree in Operatic Vocal Performance, his creative talents drew him to the intense world of songwriting, jazz and improvisation which led to his playing many acoustic sets throughout Los Angeles. This experience, in turn, helped him to collaborate with some of the city’s finest jazz musicians to form the Nikhil Korula Band (NK Band). Due to its ever-increasing fan following, this vibrant musical act has traveled all over the globe playing festivals such as BONNAROO (2008 & 2009), PLAYBOY JAZZ FESTIVAL (2011), THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL (2013-2019) & SUMMERFEST (2007-2019), gathering worldwide attention one fan at a time. 6 Jan 2021 04:00 - 55min - 639 - Jackson Stokes
For guitarist and singer-songwriter Jackson Stokes, great musicians make great neighbors. Even as a youth weaned on classic rock- his first concert was Lynyrd Skynyrd- Stokes was unaware that living across the street from his St. Louis home was guitarist and singer-songwriter Devon Allman. Allman’s family tree is impressive as the son of Gregg Allman and nephew of Duane Allman of Allman Brothers Band fame. Yet, Stokes knew little of the legendary group. Encouraged by his father, and holding his guitar, the 11-year-old Stokes knocked on Allman’s door. Allman, two decades his elder, heard something special in the young Stokes and encouraged him to continue learning and growing as a musician. Stokes dutifully attended Allman’s Honeytribe rehearsals, sitting quietly in the corner while the group worked up its repertoire. At 14, Stokes had developed into a prodigious firebrand with a passion for the blues, teaming with another area wunderkind, Marquise Knox, and performing his first professional gigs. By 18, his experience playing in high school garage bands, and with an All-State school jazz band, expanded his rock-and-roll palette. He attended Drury University in Springfield, earning a degree in music therapy, while maintaining a friendship with Allman, who encouraged Stokes to further sharpen his songwriting skill. In Memphis in 2012, Allman produced a five-song EP, Witness, from the Stokes-led band, Delta Sol Revival. DSR toured regionally until 2016 when Stokes and Allman began discussing recording his solo debut. The pair returned to Memphis for the initial sessions, as Allman invited Stokes to join the Devon Allman Band for 2017, and subsequently the Devon Allman Project for a world tour in 2018. On days-off from the road, Stokes continued work on his album, organically building the full-length. In May of 2019, Stokes put the finishing touches on a striking inaugural effort. Produced by Allman, it is a lean and focused set of rock-and-soul, including an ambitious Talking Heads cover, and a depth of original material ranging in style and subjects. From the Memphis stroll of the opening “Can’t Getcha Out,” through the reflective acoustic closer, “Take Me Home,” the debut encompasses Stokes’ wide swath of influences and tastes. There’s the ‘60s R&B update that morphs into modern rock on “Slave,” the staggering punches of overdriven guitar on “Time is Now,” and the midnight seduction of “Contents Under Pressure.” A flourish of pleading guitars finishes the slowly climbing blues-rock centerpiece, “You and Your Partner,” while David Byrne meets Southern funky on “Life in Wartime.” As well, Stokes welcomes the sunny-days slide guitar of The Allman Betts Band’s Johnny Stachela to brighten the Southern sway of “Sins Are Forgiven,” complementing that with the chunky Saturday night blues of “Whiskey.” Naturally, the nine-song record offers plenty of the fiery guitar that has been the calling card of Stokes’ career for this first decade, showcasing the stellar reputation he’s earned sharing the stage with such icons as Robert Cray, The Wailers, and Robert Randolph, as well as Warren Haynes, Lukas Nelson, and Marcus King. Yet, it’s a conspicuous emphasis on Stokes’ escalating songcraft that also shines as brightly on this initial release. Born in Michigan, but raised on the east coast until his mother moved the family to the west coast, Derrick Smith found himself jammed in the middle of the late 90's during the east vs. west beef. Because of his sister, he started playing guitar while recovering from a jaw injury. “She had been gifted one and I thought it looked cool so I asked her if I could play the Am chord and fell in love. "I write most of my songs in G major key which naturally has an Am conveniently one whole step away.” Derrick started to listen to bands for the first time once he became a guitarist in training which opened up a whole new world for him since he listened to only hip hop and R&B throughout high school and college. Deep down, though, he wanted to learn how popular guitar players play the instrument. He soon fell in love with the music of Dev Hynes, especially his live recorded performances, and decided soon after that he wanted to be a musician and started gigging out in his early-mid 20's. Inspired by his love of music, LOVE, the creator GOD and nature, Derrick Smith aka Studded Leather, an artist name he branded himself with, is still on the path of writing his life out in musical stories that show all the sides of his life experience so keep your eyes and ears open for his songs and music that will paint your life with goodness. soundcloud.com/damn-de IG @studdedleathermusic
18 Nov 2020 04:0 - 55min - 633 - Galit McCord
Galit McCord; LA based singer songwriter A wise man once said, “There are two great days in a person’s life—the day we are born and the day we discover why”. I was born in Israel, served in the Army, and graduated college there with a degree in psychology. Never dreaming then, that in a few short years, I would be living in Berlin producing Hollywood films including one with Tom Cruise, starring Colin Farrell and Selma Hayek, called “Ask The Dust”. I thought I had found the “Why” of my birth. But, as another wise man once said, “Men make plans, and God laughs.” I got married – pregnant – and had children. FOUR! My children became the greatest production of my life, but it wasn't long before I realized that rearing children was a kind of production that didn’t leave time for any other. My early years of motherhood left little time for traveling the world making films. However, to keep my creativity going I continued to indulge myself in my life-long habit of writing poetry. Little could I have guessed that my passion was actually my avocation, on the way to becoming my vocation. In the beginning, I started to convert my poems to a radio songs format, and write many new songs as well as perform them. As a result my songs have become an extension of my creation. As it was when I gave birth to a child, so it came to be when I gave birth to a song. And that is how I discovered the authentic “Why” of my birth – write, perform, and share my creations with the world. Songs that tell stories – and reflect upon the human condition -- in the best of times, and the worst of times -- always offering a light at the end of the tunnel, through self-empowerment. My dream is to break the stereotype of a woman and a mother, that at above a certain age can never make it in the music industry. “If you’re over 30 you’re dead”. The role of your womb may be over for this lifetime but your ability to create is there for the rest of your life. So yes I’m dying to say, “ I did it and so can you”.

Ramsey Denison grew up in a small town in Florida where he spent most of his childhood playing with firecrackers, watching Saved by the Bell, and making terrible movies with his friends at the television station where he worked as a teenager. A member of the editor's guild, Ram has cut over 30 television programs and worked on hit shows like Naked and Afraid, Catfish, and Criss Angel Mindfreak. His debut documentary What Happened In Vegas went to #1 on iTunes documentary chart in June 2018 and drew positive reviews from Village Voice, Los Angeles Times, and The Hollywood Reporter. His second documentary, Money Machine, got a perfect 10 out of 10 review from Film Threat and is slated for theatrical release in July, 2020. MONEY MACHINE MOVIE Synopsis: Los Angeles CA- In his first acclaimed feature WHAT HAPPENED IN VEGAS, director Ramsey Denison exposed violence, murder and corruption within the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Denison's first documentary became a surprise hit that went to #1 on the iTunes documentary chart in June 2018 and in his searing new film MONEY MACHINE, he shines a light on the cover-up and police corruption around the 1 October Vegas mass shooting that killed 58 people during the Route 91 country music festival near the Mandalay Bay Resort. Featuring an exclusive interview with killer Stephen Paddock’s brother Eric, this riveting new documentary feature exposes information MGM Resorts International and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department would prefer to keep secret about what drove mild mannered millionaire gambler Stephen Paddock to open fire on a crowd of over 20,000 people at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival. MONEY MACHINE also features harrowing, never before seen footage of the deadliest mass shooting in US history and examines what really happened to the millions of dollars raised for victims through the #VegasStrong campaign. Called “heartbreakingly intense” by Film Threat in their perfect 10 review, MONEY MACHINE digs into layers of police corruption and collusion between the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and casino owners. On October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd of over 20,000 concertgoers from his hotel room at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. In a matter of minutes, Paddock killed 58 people and wounded more than 400. It was the largest mass shooting in the history of the United States. Yet, just a couple of years later, Vegas seems to have forgotten about it completely. Needless to say, mass shootings are not good for business, and it didn’t take long for the Vegas money machine to get to work making this one disappear. In the aftermath of remarketing Las Vegas as a safe destination for tourists, many questionable practices were put into place—one of the most shocking being filing a lawsuit against the victims of this devastating tragedy. On top of that, despite the popular #VegasStrong movement and nationwide fundraising, there’s still a huge question of where all that money went. An enthralling documentary about the dark side of the Las Vegas economy, MONEY MACHINE exposes Sin City’s darkest secrets… including its culpability in this country’s deadliest shooting. - Courtesy Cleveland International Film Festival MONEY MACHINE will be released July 3rd via the innovative “Theatrical-At-Home” platform and will screen at select cinema screens across North America in association with Ryan Bruce Levey Film Distribution and PR. Texas born & California raised, in Alameda, Patrick Baker aka “The Dark Sea” lives in Los Angeles. Patrick grew up between two musical worlds: his parents record collection from the pop/rock of 60’s and rock/hiphop of the 90’s. Patrick used to bring his guitar with him to high school every day and spent 6 hours a day playing guitar. While studying jazz at SF State and songwriting at The Songwriting School of Los Angeles, he played guitar in bands in the Bay Area before moving to LA to learn music production from Cre8 Academy in Hollywood. He’s spent the last few years songwriting and producing for local artists around town. “The Dark Sea” writes emotionally honest lyrics dealing with his struggles with depression, loneliness, interpersonal relationships, and social issues. The sound has been described as Pavement fronting the Foo Fighters. He borrows the dynamics and a lot of the clean/distorted heaviness from the early-mid 90’s era. “I never intended to be a singer. I was always frustrated with writing songs for others to sing so I decided to learn how to sing a few years back. One of other my goals is to inspire people to play guitar as well.” Patrick grew up listening to some of the best guitar riff music: Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, and Metallica mostly because he wasn’t sure there’s anything sexier than a great riff. Currently influenced by Red hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles and Smashing Pumpkins, his next project will have a more urban flavor with lots of guitars because he is on a 90’s alt rock kick right now. Recently, he released his 1st release as the Dark Sea “My Brother’s Keeper” and a Leonard Cohen cover and under his producer handle Pbutter, you can take a listen to “You Want It Darker”. Look for his upcoming alt rock EP in the next few months. Website thedarkseamusic.com Instagram or Facebook @thedarkseamusic

Joe Laurean started playing guitar in 1988 one fall afternoon after discovering Guns 'N Roses. He was about 13 then and never looked back at life without having a guitar ever again. Since then, it's been his breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As a teen, Joe would skip most parties to try and make his fingers fret chords and practice, practice, practice. Fast forward to 2002, Joe was home one day in Pasadena in his living room, staring at his two guitars. Bam!! The idea came to him and his head said to swap out those two necks. At the time, he was a small guitar repair enthusiast and so decided to set up a business with a friend and so they worked out of an old mansion on Lake Ave. Back in 2002, Joe had been customizing old guitars, building them from parts to satisfy the guitars he wished he could have when he first started out playing. Joe is a strat guy so that's what he started out mostly customizing, but he built a few single cut LP styles and even a few basses. In 2018, Joe got to take things a little further and joined Guild USA in Oxnard, CA. Joe Laurean is part of building some of the most iconic acoustic guitars now. The Guild USA famed dreadnoughts, our parlor sized M20s, and of course our jumbo acoustics are off the charts. Ailie is extremely grateful for the training she has received as a vocalist and songwriter, with a Bachelors of Music degree from the University of Southern California and a few world-class, Grammy-nominated music teachers, mentors, and collaborators to attribute to it, but she is even more grateful to have learned that, ultimately, music comes from the heart and soul, not the head.

Horrible Haikus was originally launched through a Kickstarter campaign in 2018 where it smashed its funding goals and gave birth to the greatest game humanity has ever known (according to that one drunk guy in the second test group). In addition to the Horrible Haikus game, a book of poetry was also released featuring some of the haikus as they were originally written before being deconstructed for the game. These books have brought joy to many, but shame to our families. 575 Games plans to launch expansion packs for the current version of the game as well as a more family friendly version in the not too distant future. We are also currently developing several new games for both adults and families. Joy Graysen is an LA based recording artist, performance coach and activist whose mission is to help people learn to trust love and find their true voices. Born Joy Holly Stimmel, in New York to Sam and Honi, Joy was a child of music. She began singing before she could walk or talk and, as a result, feels that music was her first true language. By the age of three, Joy could sing in three part harmony and play three instruments by ear. She felt more fluent with music than any other form of communication from the beginning of her life. Joy realized that when she was singing, she felt an enormous sense of love and belonging and wholeness; but when she wasn’t singing, she felt a deep loneliness. She longed to feel the level of love she experienced while singing in all the other areas of her life. Joy began a journey to discover how to connect the freedom of music to everything else in her life. What she discovered became the foundation she uses as an artist and a performance coach to free herself and others into their own lives by freeing their true voices. Inspired by artists like Sting, Joy writes and creates music from a cinematic point of view, to showcase the magic that happens when we surrender to love and let go of the need to withhold it. Her lyrics reflect her journey to find the most authentic truth. Simultaneously working on her next release, Joy is also writing her book called, “Finding Joy, The Great Experiment,” to capture and share all of the discoveries and realizations she has had about what it means to truly live, to love, and to be who we authentically are. 27 Nov 2019 04:0 - 55min - 599 - Doug Messenger
Doug Messenger was born in New York on Long Island on March 9, 1942. After his dad got a new job opportunity, his family decided to made a big move to Mexico City, Mexico where he spent most of his younger years from the age of 4 to 17. Doug's passion for learning landed him back in the United States where he studied at Princeton in New Jersey, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. While traveling back to visit family in Mexico in the summer of 1962, Doug met the love of his life, Jeanne Thompson. Doug and Jeanne soon married after he graduated from Princeton and he worked at Bethlehem Steel's Export Office in New York City. Doug knew he was destined for more so he quit his job and decided to move to Boston, Massachusetts to enroll in the esteemed Berklee College of Music. Unfortunately, Doug's wife, Jeanne became very sick so he was only able to attend the music school for 2 years, but he knew he wanted to play music so played in R&B bands all over Boston, one of which was the best band in town with Roger Pace, considered to be the white James Brown. As a side musician, Doug had the thrill of backing up some of the best soul and R&B legends of our time including Al Green (1965), Chuck Berry (1966 & 1971),Etta James (1967), Dee Clark (1966) and a 415lb singer called Lotsa Poppa (1966). In 1968, Doug also played guitar for Darrell Banks for the song,"Open The Door To Your Heart" and Dyke & The Blazers, "Shotgun Slim," in 1970. One of the biggest songwriters Doug worked with was Van Morrison from 1971-1973, where he played guitar and arranged songs for Van's album, St Dominic's Preview and got the chance to collaborate with piano legend, Vince Geraldi. After one of his house band shows, as fate would have it, Doug ended up playing Monopoly with Jimi Hendrix (Doug is still bitter that Jimi landed on Boardwalk his first time around the board), known at the time as Jimi James. They would meet again in 70s, a few months before Hendrix passed away. Over the years, Doug played in over 20 house bands from 1965-1975 and was hired for sessions for Warner Brothers, MGM, ABC, Original Sound and a few for Motown in 1971 & 1972. Doug also played with songwriter/composer, Jackie De Shannon and also played in a band called Mudd with Willie Weeks on bass and also backed up Carly Simon on "Speak Out To Me," but now Doug wanted to start his own band. Ironically called The Police, Doug's first band came to a halt when his lead singer died of a heroin overdose. It took him 5 years to find the next 3 members of his next band, The Pickles, who were making waves on the LA scene and just as they were about to get signed, one of his lead singers died in a car accident. Doug knew he had enough of playing in a band so he turned his rehearsal space into a recording studio in 1984. By the time he acquired enough gear in 1988, Doug officially opened Hard Drive Analog & Digital Studios in 1990. He got his Stephens tape machine that Pink Floyd THE WALL & Steely Dan’s AJA was recorded on and Fleetwood Mac “Rumors” was mixed on in 1987. Since 1990, some of the incredible music talents who have come through to record at Hard Drive Analog & Digitial Recording include Joe Pass, Jimmie Eat World, Joe Bonamassa, Cindy Blackman, The Plain White Ts, At the Drive In, Mars Volta, Neon Trees, New Found Glory, Nikhil Korula Band, Robben Ford and Beck's first single, "Loser" was also recorded here. Doug has also recorded the background music for the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and Country Music Awards. Over the years, Doug has also recorded 7 albums with the blues label, Delta Groove Records, one of which won the WC Handy Foundation Blues Album of the Year. Currently, Doug Messenger is working with Paul Denman, Sade’s producer and Daniel Ash from Bauhaus and will be recording the 8th album of the Nikhil Korula Band in January 2020. 23 Oct 2019 04:0 - 55min - 595 - Greg Leon
Greg Leon was born on May 19, 1958 and grew up in Glendale, CA, a foothills community of Los Angeles, and immediately made an impact on the blossoming live hard rock scene of Hollywood's Sunset Strip in the late 1970s. Primarily playing guitar and handling vocals, the acts that he fronted were Suite 19, with future Great White/Dokken drummer Gary Holland and then future Motley Crue drummer, Tommy Lee and the Greg Leon Invasion, with bassist Joey Vera (later of Armored Saint, Fate's Warning and Anthrax) and drummer Carl Elizondo (later of Jag Wire, and playing under the stage name Carl James). The Invasion would release the "Every Time" b/w "Stay With Me Tonite" 7" single with Vera on bass who was fired when it was discovered by Leon that he had been moonlighting with Armored Saint. Vera's replacement, Chuck Stevenson and Elizondo played with Leon on the Greg Leon Invasion picture disc released by Azra/R2R in 1983. He took the place of Randy Rhoads in Quiet Riot, and as the pre-George Lynch guitarist in Dokken. (Don Dokken has since made the group's first EP, which graces Leon on the cover, available for download to the public). During this period Leon also had a considerable local reputation as a guitar teacher, working at Rhoads' mother's guitar studio in Burbank. Leon had several incarnations of the Invasion and played with various LA acts after his exciting early days. Leon also had a brief time with Greenworld Records' Midwestern act Vyper, while at the same time gathering a name for himself as a guitar amp modifying specialist. KOPPS tell a tale of society's ongoing need and want to constantly acquire more and more things, while bringing up the question on whether anything will ever be enough? Their new single " OH DANG DANG " (produced by Daniel Armbruster of Joywave), which premiered everywhere yesterday via Nakid Magazine, is KOPPS' satirical way of voicing concern of our nation's collective sanity around worshipping "stuff". “OH DANG DANG” is a car crash of a song combining elements of pop, alt, and even a little nu-metal," Front-woman , Patricia, states. To me, this song represents the agenda of never being able to get enough. Objects and fads come and go, but the desire to accumulate for the average North American remains."

14 Aug 2019 04:0 - 55min - 587 - Brian Justin Crum
With millions of viral views from his time on America’s Got Talent, Broadway credentials, and chart-topping singles, the singer-songwriter and entertainer Brian Justin Crum knew he was destined for stardom from a very early age. He first fell in love with performing after his mom, a single mother, put her kids into an after-school theatre program so she could work. At 7 years old was already telling his mother he was going to be a star. Fast forward years later and barely out of high school, Brian was cast in the Broadway musical “Wicked.” It was his first taste of Broadway. Soon he was living in New York City and landing roles in the musicals “Altar Boyz,” “Grease” and “Next to Normal. “ But it was the role as Galileo Figaro in Queen’s rock theatrical “We Will Rock You” that got him closer to that lofty promise he made to his mom at 7 years old. The reviews celebrated his performance as a “triumph,” and earned him a handful of awards for Best Actor. He was well on his way to being a star. Brian continued that trajectory when he was cast in America’s Got Talent Season 11. As one of the most talked about performers, Brian earned a 4th place finish with renditions of Queen's "Somebody to Love", Radiohead's "Creep", Phil Collins' In the Air Tonight and Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror.” His performances from the show turned even larger viral sensations online, garnering millions of views on YouTube, some of the highest online statistics seen by the show’s emerging talent in its now twelve successful seasons. With a growing fan base invested in both his music and his roles in anti-bullying and LGBT efforts, Brian’s star continues to rise. Between dropping covers like Robyn’s “Show Me Love” which soared to #2 on the Billboard Dance Charts, touring the country, and competing against 50 top talents on “America’s Got Talent: Champions;” Brian’s next move may be his biggest yet: his debut EP.

Kara Connolly has it all - charisma, a commanding stage presence, an emotive voice, and that rare gift for writing songs that are simultaneously heartfelt, sincere and undeniably infectious upon first listen. Given her ability to connect with an audience, it’s no surprise that Kara sold- out the iconic Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, the very venue that Katy Perry and Sara Bareilles got their start, before ever having released a single song. And now with her full-length album, Life in Rear View, released, Kara is beginning to reach an audience as universal as her songs themselves. Connolly’s debut music video for the title track has garnered over 200K views thus far and her record, a unique, genre-bending blend of storytelling, percussive instrumentation, and pop hooks, has received high praise in a variety of tastemaker publications such as The Line of Best Fit, Hollywood Life, Popdust, and Parade Magazine. Considered a journey from breakdown to breakthrough, Life in Rear View begins with heartbreak and ends in triumph as Kara reminds us, through personal experience, the importance of friendship, vulnerability, acknowledging our self-worth, and never settling for less than the love and respect we deserve. As an artist, she’s, most recently, packed The Peppermint Club in West Hollywood and performed on KUSI News Good Morning San Diego. As a songwriter, she's written songs that have topped Spotify Fresh Finds lists and Kara's supporters (or Karakeets as they have so proudly claimed their fandom) continue to connect with Kara for her empowering originals and sincere, engaging personality. Kara’s upbeat and colorful take on modern feminism, produced by Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson) and mastered at the legendary Capitol Records, is out now. karaconnolly.com instagram.com/karaconnolly facebook.com/mskaraconnolly twitter.com/mskaraconnolly youtube.com/karaconnolly

He majored in Classical Trumpet and soaked up whatever he could regarding composition, arranging, singing, theory and jazz harmony – spending countless nights sneaking into the piano studios afterhours to write songs. Upon graduation, Wilkins received a scholarship to study Mandarin in China, and spent the better part of a year at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Beijing Language and Culture University. In 2008, he returned to Montreal to perform locally and at colleges and clubs in the north-eastern U.S. Shortly after, he was approached by Pascal Shefteshy, an acclaimed engineer and producer working for famous producer Pierre Marchand (Sarah McLachlan, Rufus Wainwright) to record an album. They got to work, and then just as their limited budget was running out, Marchand announced that he was going to India for three months, leaving the door to his studio open and Wilkins and Shefteshy in the position to record an album without compromise. Wilkins' first independent release "Back Of My Head EP", was featured on NPR's All Things Considered and prominently featured on the NPR music website as “Piano Pop, Beautifully Arranged”. The single reached a top 50 position after only a few weeks of tracking on commercial radio and stayed in the charts for more than twenty weeks. His second single, “Through To You" was launched to radio stations across Quebec with impressive results, hitting top 10 adult contemporary, reaching 6th position for 5 consecutive weeks. Ben Wilkins debut self-titled album, signed to Milagro Records, was released in stores across Canada on October 18th, 2011. Wilkins was scouted by S.L. Feldman & Associates and toured through Quebec and Ontario – headlining theaters and opening for artists such as David Usher, Eric Lapointe, Cowboy Junkie, Matthew Good, and Kim Mitchell. He was named in the top 5 favorite arts in the Chicoutimi Jazz and Blues Festival and his various live formats, be it a band of seven, a trio or solo, have been very well received by audiences and critics alike. BEHIND THE CURTAIN.... Guns. Drugs. Booze. Broads. Cheaters. Liars. Broken bones. Broken dreams. Dead thugs in black Caddy car trunks. Fistfights on the corner. Prejudice. Bigotry. Misogyny. Oh, just a typical day in my hometown - Providence, RI - where working-class heroes STILL hi-five to Mob rule, the Catholic church and a good Italian meatball. Who rescued me from the fate many friends met at the end of a bullet, a bottle, a pill? Aretha, Sly, Tina, Teddy, Barbra, Stevie, Frank, Ray, Isaac, Bassey, The Isleys, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart, Neil Young, Hendrix, Joplin, Sarah, Ella, James, Tower of Power, Earth Wind & Fire - their lives, their songs - my own personal Life Soundtrack! My secret I.V. tube, dripping knowledge no adult could provide, pearls of wisdom that guided & calmed me, fired my imagination, & helped me rise above and get the hell out in one piece. Out, from the fire to the frying pan. Pounding the gritty NYC streets, I fought TOOTH & NAIL for every gig, crumb and credit, while singing songs - theirs and mine - on sidewalks and in dark clubs. One VOICE of thousands, in the shadows, searching for meaning, truth, my sound, MY unique version of love & redemption. Then, a life flipper: a job slinging cocktails at NYC's Blue Note Jazz Club - an education no money could buy. Face to face with living legends - jazz icons who rose up through decades of social injustice to create JAZZ. More creative marination, incubation, trials by fire. Onwards from NYC to Canada. England. L.A. I persevered. I pursued. I forged 'The Dream' ...which led me to: NOW. HERE. WITH YOU. And about NOW?? Well, birds fly. Presidents LIE. Bells RING, & SINGERS SING. No one hears life the way I do. That 's the way I sing it. I wake up with songs in my head. I am a human compilation disk, an amalgam of all styles of music I soaked up as a kid - pop/jazz/funk/soul - plus years of survival on Mother Earth. I NEED TO RECORD the MUSIC. SONGS & MUSIC saved ME. Maybe I can do the same for some lost someone? In the here & now, I tilt forward, through the deluge, the onslaught, the competition, and in doing so, create MY OWN UNIQUE NICHE in an ever changing world! Flanked by an amazing ensemble of stellar soldier musicians who vibe with my equal parts DRIVE, EMOTION, OBSESSION & PASSION, I stand on the shoulders of giants, ready to take it to the next level. Forget being politically correct—she’s here, she’s pissed off, and she calls herself Bugsy. Spitting bars and belting hooks on stilettos in the name of females everywhere, Bugsy’s music has the unique effect of making people dance and simultaneously burn the patriarchy to the ground. From the fun-loving bounce of her debut single “Fuckboy” to the foot-stomping politically charged “Boss Woman” (coming out in March), Bugsy combines silky R&B vocals with raunchy rap to give feminism the foul-mouthed voice it deserves. Complete with backup dancers, room-shaking 808’s and a packed audience each time, her shows are more of a rally than a musical experience. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, future is female, and—middle fingers in the air—Bugsy is at the front of the pack, leading the charge. Kate’s record sold 250,000 copies in the US and the songs were licensed extensively on TV. Next up came Matt Nathanson’s album Some Mad Hope, which Eric recorded with Altman. The album spawned the double-platinum single, “Come On Get Higher.” Then came albums with Natasha Bedingfield, Trevor Hall, William Fitzsimmons, Walker Hayes, Rosi Golan, Bethany Dillon and Adema, spanning genres from pop to folk to country and metal. After establishing Marlay Studios in North Hollywood in 2010, Eric worked with artists such as Taylor Swift, Sia, Michelle Branch, Natasha Bedingfield, The Milk Carton Kids, Carney, Aqualung, Dan Wilson, P!nk, Rachael Yamagata, Brooke Fraser, Switchfoot, and Boyd Tinsley from Dave Matthews Band. Along the way, Eric gained valuable experience working alongside hit producers such as Ryan Tedder, John Alagia, Dan Wilson and Charlie Peacock. In 2014, Eric was nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year for his engineering work on Taylor Swift’s “Red” album. Eric focuses on mixing music and film score in stereo and 5.1 surround and producing/co-writing with artists. Recent projects include OneRepublic’s Netflix “Once in a Lifetime” in 5.1 surround, indie band The Lighting, the main title to the Netflix show, “The Haunting of Hill House”, country artist Nora Collins and pop band Castro. Eric works out of his own studio in Los Angeles, Marlay Music. eric-robinson.com

Sarah Reich (Performer, Choreographer, Instructor, Composer) has emerged as one of the new leaders in the Art Form of Tap Dance. Sarah has been sought after to perform, choreograph, and teach in over 40 countries. "I want to continue to bring tap into mass media with great respect and quality," she says, focusing on "reprogramming the minds of the general public on their perception of tap dance." Sarah has become one of the art form's pop culture ambassadors, thanks to her appearances in videos with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox. Her videos with them (A Star Wars–themed tribute, "The Tap Awakens," & “Thriller”, a Michael Jackson cover featuring Wayne Brady) have garnered millions of views on YouTube, all receiving rave reviews. She has toured the world with Postmodern Jukebox playing prestigious venues such as Radio City Music Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera House as well as a televised PBS special filmed in Las Vegas. With her Tap Music Project intensives in various cities, Reich teaches tap dancers how to dance with more musicality, communicate with musicians and write music. Using a live band in class, she instructs students on how to "scat" rhythms or transcribe choreography with rhythm notation, among other skills. Sarah is developing new, and exciting works with her company Tap Music Productions, with her debut Tap Jazz Album entitled “New Change”. This album is originally produced, composed from percussive tap rhythms, and performed by a great selection of musicians to create a unique sound. She hopes this is just the beginning: "I want to be the first tap dancer to win a Grammy Award". Sarahreich.com
