It's a podcast about saints, from people who aren't. Take a trip through the liturgical calendar with comedian/theologian Anna Dominey and her saint obsessed friend/comedian Matthew Chadourne. Every other week this pair of non-believers will go through the life, death and after-life of that day’s obscure saint. In an attempt to understand what it means to be "good".
- 94 - Saint Laurence O’Toole– 14 November
This episode we head to the darkest period of Irish history [Citation Needed] with the life and times of Saint Laurence O’Toole. Sure he started off as a prince but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have a childhood as a professional hostage before rising through the ranks to become the Archbishop of Dublin. Along the way we learn about his difficult relationship with his dad, his less than stellar negotiation skills, a near cudgeling, and get some bad news about a dog Matthew once met. Plus Anna get a real-life (totally not stolen) relic and Matthew get a miraculous windfall. https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/saint-misbehavin/id1547078763 and subscribe wherever you can. Sat, 02 Nov 2024 - 1h 06min - 93 - Saint Pelagia the Harlot – 8 October
We start off strong with a cool name and then it’s all downhill from there as we talk about the life and times of Saint Pelagia the Harlot. A crowd of people looking at her ass (by which we mean donkey) leads to a nosey bishop making her feel bad for selling her ass (by which we mean her ass) and then it’s all fake eunuchs and eating disorders until she’s dead on a pile of olives. We also try to answer the age old question of whether actors are a good hang or not. Plus Anna faces some harsh karma and Matthew promises to invite Anna to the next Saint Misbehavin’ staff meeting.

Tue, 15 Oct 2024 - 1h 04min - 92 - Saint Giles – 1 September
This month’s episode is pure poetry as we bust into the life and times of the highly recommended Saint Giles. He’s a sweet, if chronically misunderstood, man who loved animals and solitude and we discuss his close relationship with a deer, a king who does not know when he’s not wanted, his “expertise” in lactation, and whether PETA is front for Big Meat. Plus, in a shocking move, Anna Climbs a hill and, predictably, Matthew has another giant baby.

Tue, 10 Sep 2024 - 1h 12min - 91 - Saint Philomena – 11 August
In today’s episode we try to figure out how important being real is to being a good person with the life(?) and after life of Saint Philomena. From humble beginnings as a pile of dust, she became the daughter of a Greek King and, after several false starts, a martyr. Along he way we meet ham wives, questionable nuns, and have a run in with our old nemesis, Emperor Diocletian (booooooo!). Plus, Anna and Matthew try desperately to scrounge for some corporate sponsorship and ice cream.

Sat, 01 Jun 2024 - 53min - 88 - Saint Dunstan - 19 May
This episode we check in with Saint Dunston, a seemingly affable guy who had no problem making enemies wherever he went. He out lived a large number of E-named kings, if you call living in a tiny room or a ruined abbey "living". Also, Anna becomes a hero at her work by sharing her non-convictions and Matthew is needlessly persecuted.

Sun, 31 Mar 2024 - 1h 07min - 84 - Blessed Mark Barkworth - 27 February
If there's one thing we learn from the life of Blessed Mark Barkworth it’s when to get out of England. It’s a lesson he didn’t learn himself but along the way he became a priest and enemy of the state (thanks to the Pope), gets some useless pseudonyms, and becomes a horrible cellmate. Plus, Anna gets a miraculous gift to help with her recovery and Matthew is here.

Hey Look at that, we're back again! After a brief hiatus for health reasons were back at it with the life of England's own Saint Edward the Confessor. Sure he was a king but was he much of a saint and also was he king? As far as we can tell he wasn't very invested in his job, had a pretty unsupportive mother, and never figured out that there was even a south of France. Plus, Anna get better and employed and Matthew give a shout out to some lovely words form a saintly fellow on the other side of the globe. Please rate, review, and subscribe wherever you can. Sun, 28 Jan 2024 - 1h 03min - 82 - Ain’t Mythbehavin’ Ep. 13 – Huldufólk
This week, Matthew chickens out on his original topic because it was too creepy so he switches to tales of the Icelandic Huldufólk. But it turns out this isn’t just tales of fun elves who throw parties in your house while you’re asleep, it also includes slavery, man-eating cats, peeping toms, the patriarchy, and so much more. Plus, Anna does an epic thing but Matthew brings a real January energy to podcast.

Just in time to be late for the holidays, Matthew and Anna talk about the real reason for the season: Saturn, the original shitty dad and party god of Roman mythology. This episode has creation myths, baby eating, and we come up with a great plan for the city of Cincinnati. Plus, Anna has an epic journey along the ring road and Matthew plans an odyssey to the New World!

Note: This one is out of order due to an upload mix-up. Hope you still enjoy it
After subjecting Anna to several end of the world myths, this month Matthew swings in the other direction with the Chinese creation myth of Pangu (probably the coolest dude we've covered since Enkidu). It's got giant eggs, hairy giants, questionable axes and so much more. And at the end we get everything!

Sun, 14 Jan 2024 - 1h 07min - 79 - Ain’t Mythbehavin’ Ep. 11 – Finn McCool
This week we head to ancient Ireland to discuss the hero who most sound like an item on the McDonald’s desert menu, Finn McCool. It’s a fun romp through the Irish countryside as we learn about his (literally) cool Dad, being raised by a pair of lesbian Druids, his love affair with a deer, and his fool-proof strategies to get out of a fight. Plus Matthew takes an epic journey to Scotland and Anna stands in line to keep her community safe.

Sun, 31 Dec 2023 - 1h 06min - 78 - Ain’t Mythbehavin’ Ep. 10 – Xenu
This week we court controversy as we relate the most recent mythology we’ve ever done and tackle the tale of Xenu. 75 Million years from start to finish, this story take us from the mysterious (yet familiar) planet Teegeeack to the equally strange Clearwater, Florida. Plus, society continues to celebrate Matthew as “world’s greatest Dad” and Anna surprises everybody with a legit good literary reference.

This week it's the tale of ancient Greece's greatest inventor (he invented the axe!) Daedalus. It's a tale of his inability to keep himself (and his son) out of trouble, a recounting of his many contributions to the world (such as sex cows), and we correct a story that everybody knows but gets the wrong moral from. Plus, Matthew is a champion and Anna defeats the intro.

Mon, 18 Dec 2023 - 1h 09min - 76 - Ain’t Mythbehavin’ Ep. 8 – King Solomon
This week we continue on from last week’s episode and cover Kind David’s son, King Solomon. Famous for his wisdom, temple, wives, magic rings, and demon helpers, we go thought he life of this complex but mostly terrible dude. Plus, Anna does a little painting and Mathew turns out to be the worst person ever.
Sun, 10 Dec 2023 - 1h 30min - 75 - Ain’t Mythbehavin’ Ep. 7 – King David
In this week's episode, we discuss the life of King David: giant killer, foreskin collector, wife stealer…you know just your regular old king stuff. He’s basically a serial killer but also one of the biggest heroes of the bible. (Go figure.) Also, Anna tries to prove she’s cool by dropping some hipster references and Matthew is a hero for keeping his family from murdering each other. Thanks for subscribing!

- 73 - Ain't Mythbehavin' Ep. 04 - Noah
This week we dive back into floods with the story of Noah and the biblical flood myth. Plus, Anna does an epically villainous act and Matthew meets a person!
Sun, 19 Nov 2023 - 1h 38min - 72 - Ain't Mythbehavin' Ep. 03 - Gilgamesh
This month we put the “Mess” in Mesopotamia as Matthew introduces Anna to one of the oldest stories of all time; The Epic of Gilgamesh. They talk about it’s influence on other epics (including the Bible and the Avengers), the poor judgment of the gods, the relative scariness of farm animals, and what a much cooler dude Gilgamesh’s friend Enkidu is. Plus Anna touts her one piece of knowledge about this story in an attempt to become Matthew’s hero and Matthew takes an epic, feminist stand.
*Please note* Mathew’s audio is a bit muddled this week. We did our best to clean it up but it’s not the best quality. Sorry.
Sun, 12 Nov 2023 - 1h 14min - 71 - Ain't Mythbehavin' Ep. 02 - Ragnarök
We start with the end of Norse mythology as we discuss the myth of Ragnarök. This myth has everything: Dragons, giants, wolves, squirrels, someone eats the moon, a ship made of fingernails, trees, and much, much more. Plus Matthew pitches some more side shows, Anna derails the whole conversation with discussion about a couple who had a bunch of kids and we make a plan for a pretty great party next year that you’re invited to!

- 69 - Saint Notburga– 13 September
Saint Notburga was a nice lady who helped the poor, blah, blah blah, basic saint stuff. What I really want to talk to you about is this: Do not eat wood. We at Sait Misbehavn’ cannot say this strongly enough. It is our official position that eating wood is bad for the human body as our digestive tacks are not designed to process wood for nutrients. Please, we ask that if you are thinking about eating wood that you do not and if you have been eating wood that you immediately cease for your own health and for the sake of those who care about you. Plus, Anna spreads some dangerous misinformation about unsustainable diet choices and Matthew tries to set the record straight about the impossibility of a lumber based diet. Sun, 27 Aug 2023 - 1h 10min - 67 - Saint Junipero – 1 July (Part 2)
Sorry it took so long but here is the exciting/depressing conclusion of the story of the life of St. Junipero. Don’t worry, it’s not just all colonizing, it’s only mostly colonizing but occasionally there is a sombrero riot and jerks get shot with an arrow. So you have that to look forward too. Plus, Anna isn’t the sickest person on the podcast for once and Matthew spent a lot of his week editing out all his coughing from the audio.

Oh boy, this is a bad one folks. Take a trip to the New World (always a bad sign) with Saint Junipero. He was a “missionary” in Mexico with an aversion to horses, a misunderstanding of bats, and a love of the inquisition so great we have to do two episodes about him. Plus, Anna over-pronounces her limited Spanish Vocabulary and Matthew has an Enterprising Father’s Day.

Sure he was rich, powerful, and had a hot wife but that doesn’t mean he didn’t give back to the community and not just in the form of a lot of churches in one specific part of Italy. He also helped a guy one time by appearing in his kidnapper's dreams. Plus, Anna witnesses some instant karma form God and Matthew become a better burrito based ally to the LGBTQ+ community.

Hope you like Cornwall because this episode we talk about the well-travelled but Cornish centered life of Saint Petroc. From exalted beginnings in possibly the best family in Welsh history to his shame based travels with (and probable end because of) a wolf it’s a wild tale you won’t want to miss. Plus, Anna does something she describes as “not actively bad” and Matthew talks about all the joy he gets from the sexy stars.

It’s an episode featuring a detailed description of what 79ing is, Dracula’s crisis of faith, an account of how Paris wronged the Chadourne family, a temporary miracle, and we even make time to discuss the life of Phillip Neri. In this episode we spend some more time in the Old Testament and inside a whale (big fish) with the world’s worst prophet Jonah. Is there more to this story then just his maritime adventures? You bet there is and we dive into the deep end of all the symbolism and metaphor you demand of us! Sat, 29 Apr 2023 - 58min - 60 - Saint George – 23 April
It’s everybody’s favourite dragon slaying patron saint of England, Saint George. He had one life but a lot of conflicting deaths but we can all agree he got tortured a lot, had zero instinct for self-preservation, and he was always there for his fellow man (as long as his fellow man was rich or doing colonialism.) It’s a tale of cave living, herb eating, real estate schemes, getting fatally stuck in France, dealing with trauma through fire, and learning how werewolves are made. Welcome to medieval France; where abbeys multiply like rabbits, cars are extremely dangerous, birth isn't much safer, and Saint Collette roams that countryside making every one as poor as possible to make them spiritually richer. Sun, 05 Feb 2023 - 1h 04min - 54 - Saint Sebastian – 20 January
The third century has never been hotter as we talk Saint Sebastian. An undercover Cristian who was probably too good at conversions and got so many people into trouble before betraying his best friend and getting shot with a bunch of arrows and thrown in a sewer. Plus, Anna miraculously figures out risotto and Matthew is afflicted by a toddler. Please rate, review, and subscribe wherever you can. It really helps the show. And tell a friend! Thanks. Sat, 21 Jan 2023 - 1h 03min - 53 - Saint Kentigern (AKA St. Mungo) – 13 January
We’re back in Scotland this week talking about Saint Kentigern (better known as Saint Mungo) and dragging bigots. It’s a tale of kidnapped babies, unreasonable last requests from strangers, lackluster miracles, and narratively extraneous volcanos. All with a light motif of very poor Scottish accents. Plus, Anna explains Goo™ and Matthew is very lazy.

Sun, 08 Jan 2023 - 1h 05min - 52 - Saint Stephen – 26 December
This year we’re skipping Christmas and going straight to Boxing Day as we celebrate the life of Saint Stephen. He was a waiter for God and Christianity’s first martyr (yay?). We get into his whole (thin) biography, his sweet face, his disputed place of stoning, his inappropriate patronages, and the terrible traditions associated with his day. Plus, Anna builds community with he neighbors in card form and Matthew get a miraculous day by himself.

It’s some sassy times as we follow the life of Saint Lucy of Syracuse (the old one) as she travels from Sicily all the way to another part of Sicily before things get really heavy and all her bones get misplaced. Plus, Anna is adjacent to saintliness by blood and Matthew keeps his family going for another week.

Sun, 11 Dec 2022 - 1h 06min - 50 - Saint Andrew – 30 November
It’s some original apostle nonsense with Saint Andrew this week; defender of orphans, fighter of wolves, master of branding. We cover the whole story from his humble beginnings as a spied upon fisherman to his grisly (but distinct) death and even follow his well-travelled knee caps. It’s an adventure not to be missed. Plus, Anna takes a stand against the world cup and Matthew “apologizes” to yet another nation.

Sun, 27 Nov 2022 - 1h 09min - 49 - Saint Hilda– 17 November
Put some gravy on your chips and take a journey to ancient Yorkshire with Saint Hilda. Born in exile (in a royal court, so don't worry) she rose up to be a princess abbess and a champion of culture. It’s a series of life lessons, messed-up snakes, and rocking harp covers of all your favorite hits until she ends up a restless spirit in a ruin. You know, typical Yorkshire stuff. Plus, Anna did the rare saintly/stupid act and Matthew enjoys a semi-miracle out of the US.

Sun, 13 Nov 2022 - 1h 07min - 48 - Blessed Alpaïs of Cudot– 3 November
Stay in bed this week as we bring you the life of Blessed Alpaïs of Cudot, a nice young lady afflicted for…reasons by god or possibly the devil or possibly just bad luck. Despite being bedridden and stinky she manages to get a lot done. From advising queens to being the church’s best shakedown artist she proves that you don’t have to go anywhere to get somewhere in this life. Plus, Anna is on the road (or at least the phone) to wellness and Matthew apologizes to yet another nation. Sat, 29 Oct 2022 - 55min - 47 - Saint Frideswide– 19 October
This episode Anna and Matthew become pilgrims in their own town as we discuss the very Oxford based St Fiedeswide. (Full disclosure: This episode has a lot of very specific talk about Oxford and the surrounding area so consider yourself warned). We get into her eye for design, her dozens of lady “friends”, and her questionable attitude towards cat calling but we never settle on a pronunciation for Frideswide. Plus, Anna donates her body to science and Matthew gets a sign…to the head.

Sun, 16 Oct 2022 - 1h 02min - 46 - Saint Francis of Assisi – 4 October
This episode it’s the one and only Saint Francis of Assisi (Ol' Franky Aces to his friends). He may have been a great saint but he was a terrible businessman, soldier, and son. But otherwise a lovely man who really took the time to spread the love of Christ to birds, besieged Muslims, and other indifferent groups. Plus, Anna is grateful for our new research and Matthew’s parents visit is miraculously extended.

This episode we fly into the interesting life of the dull St Joseph of Cupertino. From his humble beginnings in a stable to his equally humble life as an monk, we get into his school years (stupid), his work life (pointless), and his monastic career (annoying). All that and tales of his donkey father. Plus, Anna takes a day off for the Queen and Matthew returns from his pilgrimage to Ireland a changed man.

Rejoice! We are back from our summer break with more saintly nonsense. This episode we bring you the tale of Saint Rose of Viterbo, a nice young lady and defender of the Pope who spent some time in a fire and had some poor fashion sense. Plus, Anna volunteers her time (and money) to a good cause and Matthew miraculously endures a comedy festival of his own making.

Sun, 04 Sep 2022 - 1h 00min - 43 - Saint Sigismund of Burgundy– 1 May
Hoo boy, is Saint Sigismund this our worst “Saint” yet? Well, he was a husband who didn’t remember his wife’s name, a father who threw his son down a well (also bad for the community), and a king who stole some monks robes to hide out after losing a battle. Not to mention what his dad did! So yeah, this one might be a new low for saints but a new high for comedy. Plus, Anna miraculously dodges covid yet again and Matthew recommends a different podcast about a different saint.

It’s a trip to colonial America (uh-oh) as we discuss the life and miracles of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. A nice young lady who like to do typical gal stuff, got a crappy name from her family, and fled to Canada for a better life with…[checks notes]...The Jesuits!? That can’t be right. Plus, against her better judgment, Anna helps her neighbor and Matthew almost has a nice holiday in Wales.

This week we take on the hagiography of maybe the most famous saint in the world, Satin Patrick. You know the name but do you know the story? Was he an innocent young man, kidnapped by sheep-launching Irish pirates to become the spiritual leader to a nation (some of whom were quite thick) or did he shirk his duties and run off to Ireland to become the greatest con-man of the fifth century? Listen in to find out! Plus Anna gets some culture and Matthew asks the forgiveness of the good people of Finland.

This week we are trying to show support (in our own odd way) to Ukraine by talking about their patron saint, Saint Josaphat Kuntsevych. He is an intense guy who tries to heal a schism between east and west (man, some things never change) and gets hit by an axe for his trouble. Plus, Anna kindly watches Matthew’s baby so he can experience the miracle of a night out with his wife.

This week we prove that three heads are better than none with Saint Sigfried. Hear about his life which was as exciting as it is vague, his trips from nonspecific England to Scandinavia, his poorly located churches, and his attempts to win back the people of Sweden from the pagans. Plus, Anna gets older and wiser(?) and Matthew give some advice to everyone on how to minimize crying.

This week we fire it up with Saint Blaise, the bishop/doctor that may have had seven heads but couldn’t use a single one to think his way out of trouble. Along the way he does some pretty impressive miracles, becomes a terrible step-dad and inspires Anna to start the #NotAllOxbridge campaign. From his origins in Ireland give jobs to his relatives and having dreams about cool circuses, to his final days in France slowly moving through the countryside performing miracles for all sorts of (rich) people, we cover it all! Plus, Anna does a nice thing for birds and Mathew makes the pope very happy.

Sun, 16 Jan 2022 - 1h 07min - 35 - Saint Seraphim of Sarov – 2 January
This might be our most mind blowing episode yet as we travel to the Russian countryside to talk about the life and legacy of Saint Seraphim of Sarov. It’s got blatant workplace safety issues, bear assistants, miraculous swaps, stupid thieves, and even a useless trip to space. Make sure stick around to the end to hear the worst possible patronage ever in a segment that almost destroys Matthew’s brain. Plus, Anna gets a Christmas gift from the government and Matthew thinks he’s dodged Covid yet again but has he spoken too soon….

It’s an extra special Christmas miracle show (that is not live, sorry) where we talk life of Saint Nicholas, possibly the greatest detective of the third century and a pretty nice guy (if you're with two other people). Marvel at his zip line acumen, his uncanny aim, and his fights with heretics, storms and butchers. Plus, Matthew takes a state mandated pub quiz and Anna learns about the history of Soviet anti-religion posters.

This week we talk about a pair of sole brothers, Saint Crispin & Saint Crispian. Christians by day, shoemakers by night; these twins lived life on the edge until the Roman Empire caught up with them and abused the noble tool that is the awl. Also, as a bonus we have the tale of the Blessed Carlo Gnocchi. Yes we make fun of his silly pasta name but then we find out he was actually a nice (if intense) guy. We dive into the spiritual journey that took this shallow, social-climbing dick and turned him into a pious, social-climbing dick. Plus, Anna has a “near death experience” and Matthew becomes a man on a mission.

CW: Due to the martyrdom of this saint, we discuss violence against women and sexual assault.
This episode we seek to understand the lessons of the life of #StrongBeatuifulPeasent Saint Solange (not Beyoncé’s sister, Matthew asks that right away) a beautiful and pious child, who could heal with her mere presence. Plus we get into how her dad was a bad wine farmer, have a surprise return of the Christmas Star, and try to figure out where to put halos on cephalaphores. Plus, Anna blows it (and by “it” we mean an inappropriate kiss) and Matthew has some important messages for the gentlemen listeners.

Sun, 02 May 2021 - 12min - 13 - Saint Mark - 25 April
We’re not going to lie to you; the life of Saint Mark is very confusing. Who is he? Did he write the gospel that bears his name? What does any of this have to do with Lions? None of these questions are answered in this episode but we do get into how he kind of fell into evangelism because of nepotism, the relative stumpiness of his fingers, how he liked to get naked at parties, and why it is important to always eat breakfast when you’re the messiah. Plus Anna make a stand for criminal justice!

It’s a lot this week as we talk about a saint who was a lot, Saint Gemma Galgani. What’s the deal with her pharmacist dad? Why was she too much to be a nun? Sat, 03 Apr 2021 - 06min - 10 - Blessed Jeanne-Marie de Maille – 28 March
This week we have some frivolous conversation about the life of Blessed Jeanne-Marie de Maille. She isn’t a saint (thanks patriarchy!) but she was still a pretty great person who lived a good life. You can hear how she was the least silly Baroness of Silly there ever was, her adventures sleeping in a big pile of dogs, and her later life as the nicest lady for miles around. Plus Anna and Matthew speculate what French Halloween is like and Matthew gets the world’s most precious souvenir.

Mon, 08 Mar 2021 - 08min - 7 - Saint Abba the Great - 28 February
Mamma mia, here we go again! In this episode we take a chance on the life of St Abba the Great. Will the tale of his life be our Waterloo and have us calling S.O.S? Probably not. Turns out he was a real super trooper and a guy capable of not only good deeds but great personal growth. We also learn how to thwart desert muggings and face our limits about what saints we can and cannot talk about. So listen to Anna knowing Matthew, knowing St Abba.
Um, something…something…Dancing Queen. They can't all be Gold.
Also, Matthew mentions the Oxford Food Bank, if you would like to also donate to them please contact them here: https://oxfordfoodbank.org/

Sun, 28 Feb 2021 - 1h 12min - 6 - Saint Valentine - 14 February
What a get, it’s our first big name saint on the show! This week we travel from Italy to vaguely Africa with Saint Valentine (all three of him). And marvel at his life of annoyingly trying to convert friends and his miraculous curing of the adopted (of blindness). Plus Matthew talks about making mayonnaise which Anna insisted is a metaphor for Valentine’s Day. It absolutely is not.

Today we seek to understand the whole life of St Don Bosco (but mostly get bogged down in the first half and ramble quite a bit). Also, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs.

This week we tackle the life of St. Anthony the Great and witness his many battles with animals and “demons” (probably also just animals) and question how many servants is too many servants to still call yourself a hermit. And while Anna teaches Matthew about the life of this important spiritual leader, Matthew teaches Anna about some of the great Monster Trucks of the ‘80s. So everyone’s life was enriched.
